It's a relatively complex operation (not to be done by the average home user) and they did it quickly, expertly, and at a very fair price. My 2014 MacBook Pro wouldn't start or charge due to liquid damage. Jason at MacSensei determined that it couldn't be repaired, so I bought a 2018 MacBook Pro that had been refurbished by MacSensei for a very good price and Jason did an excellent job with the data migration. This small shop really knows Apple computers! I took my vintage 17-inch MacBookPro to them to repair a defective graphics chip. They did the job in 2 days and advised me regarding the lifespan of my computer. (Alas, it's in its last months before total chip failure.) Even though they could try to repair the chip again, it most likely not be advisable. I was impressed by their honesty. They did not try to fleece me for future service. Rather, they advised me to seriously consider purchasing a replacement. I had several questions, which they patiently answered. MacSensei is everything you want in a computer repair establishment. They are honest, professional, and efficient. In fact, they were recommended by the local Apple Store. Once you go there, you will see why. $130 to replace iPad 4 glass. Cheapest quote I've found, altho this is a drop off today and pickup in a couple days deal. The store has a MAC and PC side, and they do repairs on both in house. The tech behind the counter seemed quite techy and was busy working on some repairs when I came in. Quickly quoted me $130 to replace the glass on my iPad 4, which is 20$ cheaper than UBreakIfix. Main difference here was UbreakIfix told me to come back in 3 hours and MacSensei would have me drop off the iPad for a few days. I suspect you could work with them on this and pick a day you could drop it off and pickup a few hours later. I may do that and head over to Drexeline Billiards to kill the time shooting pool. So, I didn't actually get anything serviced here, but the store seems nice, the tech competent, and the price right...If I get sick of my cracked screen I may give them a call and see if they can do the same day service...Otherwise, it may be worth the $20 extra bucks to goto UbreakIfix. read more

As everyone when my HP computer fan went south I was in dire need of service as we all have our lives dependant on this technology. I left message on Saturday for Mac Sensei and didn't if they worked on HP computers. I was pleasantly surprised to call a call from Jason on Monday morning and tole me he could help. He not only ordered the fan (which unfortunately took some time to be delivered) but told me about my older spinning hard drive and asked if I wanted to upgrade to a digital which would increase the speed of my 5 yer old computer immensely being that he already had the computer open it would only cost the difference for the drive and he had one in stock. Well I'll tell you - what Jason's recommendation to upgrade the drive was spot on, my old HP is now working better then ever and I can't believe the speed in which is so much faster. Jason and Mac Sensei has been a Godsend to find, not only professional, knowledgeable, trustworthy and pleasant to deal with but VERY reasonable in pricing......The only place to go for computer repairs. I went in assuming I would have to buy a new Macbook Air Charger for $70. However, when I showed the staff my charger, they made a simple swap of parts and made the repair for $1. On Tuesday 31 December I spoke with Jim about problems I am having with my computer. He said I probably needed a new hard drive and a new battery. He told me he would need my computer for about 6 hrs and he would call me before he did any repairs. He assured me it would be done before close of business. I made arrangements to return on Thursday, 2 January at 1000hrs, opening time. I left the computer at 1000hrs and waited to hear from him. I knew they closed at 1800hrs on Thursday and the time was 1615 hrs and I hadn't heard from him. I called and was shocked that he wasn't aware that my computer was in his store and he hadn't worked on it. I had to leave the country on 3 January at 1300hrs and had no time to leave my computer for him to work on. When I explained that he created a very difficult problem for me he replied, "what do you want me to do, I'm between a rock and a hard place on this." I explained that he created the problem he should find a solution for me. I told him he said it would be done by the end of the day. He then lied to me telling me, "I never said that". I assured him he did say that and he did not rebut my claim.I knew he had a refurbished computer similar to mine for $500.00 and asked him how much would he knock off the asking price. He went and asked the owner and came back with, "I'll take $20.00 off and I can't go lower because I won't be making any money of it.". I told him that was unacceptable and hung up. Bottom line: do not do business with this company. Jim is a liar and the owner doesn't care at all about problems that he or his employees create. If you need repairs of any type I ask that you go elsewhere and not patronize this establishment. read more

I've had a slow IMac for years. I spoke to Apple support 3 times over the years in attempts to fix the problem. Each interaction with apple support took hours of my time only to have the same problem continue. I took my computer to MACsensei and they knew right away that the hard drive that came with my MAC was too slow to handle the data on my computer. When my laptop crashed over the weekend, I was worried: Apples stores are closed, Apple tech support wasted my time and theirs, which is more typical than not. Who can say that having a working computer is not an essential service when we are all under stay at home orders but still having to run our lives. MacSensei to the rescue! I am a repeat customer and was so happy to speak with Yukio who invited me right over. Front door is locked so they are only letting in one customer at a time. Yukio and Jim and I all wore masks, and Yukio asked me to wait in my car while he opened up my laptop. Problem solved quickly, but this is not something that could have been done remotely or by me. 18 months ago, my 2012 MacBookPro (which I had purchased new) had gotten the devil inside. Tech @Genius Bar said it had to be sent to one of their authorized service centers, but since I hadn't backed it up in several weeks, to go to MacSensei or MicroCenter for disk retrieval since my disk would either be wiped or replaced. Chose former, closer to home. What a pleasant surprise, found out disk wasn't the issue, MacSensei fixed it in 1/3 of Apple's time estimate at 1/3 of the cost! If you want honest and reliable service for your Mac, especially out of warranty (or PC), MacSensei is your place. They also sell refurbished Apple products, which I wish I had known before I bought another MBP online (refurbished) which has turned out to be an almost-lemon. read more

Purchased a used laptop the other day because I needed to use for my business. I have purchased towers her and the past and they are still working 4 years later. The first one I picked out needed a battery when we went to turn it on, none of the other displays had the same amount of memory. Jeff put another one together on the spot since I was going to late for my appointment I told him I would stop back later. Two hours later he had the computer ready to go with more memory than the original and a couple of accessories a even downloaded a virus program that I had purchased. I purchased a home made computer (desk top type) from these people (they called custom built) about three or four years ago (for about a $1,000) . The computer never operated properly in that it did not allow me to down load documents or any files without the computer completely shutting down. Moreover, the folks at this establishment told me they were providing with Microsoft software, after which I learned there weren't genuine Microsoft products but either knock offs or what I suspect were probably pirated versions or something because it never really operated or look like the Microsoft version on the computer monitor. I contacted the owners and the same individuals who sold me the computer they said I probably "was not using the computer right". I live several miles from this place, so it is inconvenient to travel back and forth with work and business obligations for computer repairs. Finally after several months of not being able to get any real work done I hauled the homemade desk top tower down to the shop and voiced my complaint, the owners (the same guys behind the counter who sold me the machine) said there's nothing wrong with the computer we checked it out (notwithstanding they never demonstrated the computer functioning properly while in the store). I take the computer home and the same problem existed, whenever I try to download any document or software updates the computer shuts down. I called them back and they told me there's nothing wrong with the computer we checked it out. I happen to be in the area and I confronted them about the homemade computer lemon and they told me bring it again. When I brought the computer in the same routine went on again, only this time I watched them while they were "testing" the computer and they could not update JAVA or download any software although they claim that they did. When I brought the computer home the exact same thing happened. These people are criminals and scam artist I warn anyone to stay away from their homemade so called "custom built" computers, I suspect they are using knockoff parts and or pirated software of legitimate manufacturers which is why their homemade desk top never functioned properly. When I confronted them the same folks shifted the argument by saying it was "the previous owner who sold you a bad operating system". When I questioned them that they were same people behind the same counter who sold me the machine they shifted gears and said "they only worked for the previous owners then and now they are the owners".
