On Sunday, 05-19-13, I went to the Autotire in Eureka, Mo. store ID #942, 85 Hilltop Village Center Dr, Eureka, MO 63025, and requested the AC Tune Up service for my 2000 Plymoth Neon. While waiting the manager had a long conversation with me about her personal life, including the history of her cheating Husband with the Wife of her married friend, and how now she is dating an Italian that she met on Match.com. I didn't want to be rude and tell her I was not interested, so I stood patiently and listened to her. Then a previous customer came in and complained about the extremely poor service that they had received, and how that Store Manager had been rude to his Wife. I waited and waited and eventually after 2-3 hours later they came and told me my car was finished. Then they informed me that it was still not blowing out any cold air. They recharged my compressor and ran die through the system to check for leaks, but found none. They said that the air might kick in while I drove home or tomorrow or whenever they didn't know. To which I replied sarcastically, so should I wait to pay until it comes on. They laughed and said no but if it doesn't come on I could come back for a diagnostic check and the manager said she would not charge me for it.
So the following day Monday, 05-20-13 I returned to the Eureka, Mo. Autotire Store ID# 942and had the diagnostics checked after waiting another 3 hours they had come to the conclusion that I had a bad compressor and it was beyond their abilities to fix. I then took my car down the street to a different shop for a second opinion. The opinion of the other mechanics was that any AC Certified Tech. would have tested my compressor first before filling it. They also checked the amount of pressure to my system to the factory specification listed on the inside of my hood, and then informed me that my compressor had been way over charged. The factory recommended pressure is.76 and their gauges were reading 1 almost 2 in the red zone. They then recommended that I return to Autotire with this information and request a refund of my $150.
So I returned to Autotire and calmly requested a refund, explaining why I felt one was due. They asked to see my receipt I handed it over and the Manager pulled out a red pen and started righting notes on it. That I only requested an AC Recharge, but I was specifically charged for the AC Tune Up Service. Which I believe should first be performed with checking the AC compressor to even find if it is even operational.
I was refused a refund, the store manager and I got into a yelling contest, me saying that I paid them to do a job that they did not do, them saying I didn't know what I was talking about and I wouldn't get a refund. I drove away in my non-air conditioned car yelling out the window, repeatedly asking the same question over and over again "Have You Ever Had A Satisfied Customer?" read more
