After a friend & mechanic passed away, I had a hard time trusting what mechanics told me. While I know cars fairly well, it seemed like sometimes I was getting sold on things that I didn't really need, or that they were taking a shot in the dark about what was really needed. I was referred to Speeler from another mechanic and it cost him my business. Speeler has become the shop I trust - from the service writer to the mechanics, everyone knows cars inside and out. This shop is the best by far that I have ever found. They take time to listen to you, and never do any repairs that you don't approve. I told James that my a/c was not working on the left side. James said they would check it out and send me a quote before fixing it. After checking it out, he called me and said the vent was just turned off. Another shop could have turned on the vent, and charged me a fortune saying something else was wrong. LOVE, love love these guys and their honesty. it's hard to find a shop like this these days. The engine on my son's recently purchased car stopped working. It was a Honda with low mileage, so we were suprised. We had it towed to our local mechanic that we really like. He took a look at it and as he disassembled it, found that the mounting brackets on the engine block were cracked. He said it needed a new motor! Since they didn't do engine swaps, he made a recommendation, but got no call back. We did our own research and found a Honda specific mechanic. He referred us to Speeler Automotive. While it was out of our comfort zone in distance, they referred a towing service that was very affordable. We sent it there and were very impressed with the operation. They removed the alternator and showed me what the problem was and gave me an option for repair, then a full replacement of the engine. UNFORTUNATELY, the best option was a full engine swap $$, but they found a cheap engine with 30,000km in Japan and explained how that was a possibility. They had the work done ahead of schedule and affordable. Though buying an engine for a car is less than desireable, I was extremely impressed with Speeler Automotive. Since then they've serviced my car, and my trust for them has grown. read more

Phenomenal experience! I called Speeler Automotive in High Ridge (am current customer) this morning due to a light being on in my car that said "ABS Brake". I completely panicked, especially since I just went through a car wash. Josh, the owner, told me to come on in since he could take a look at it. It was a battery issue; as soon as I arrived and turned off the vehicle, it would not start again. They ran codes, had a battery on hand, and the light went away. In the midst of all of this, I realize I went out the door this morning without my wallet. Previous to this event I went on a walk with my Spandex Sistas for a little over 3 mi. at 6 am, then on to Panera for my favorite Hazelnut coffee, car wash, and then the light came on. Josh was not concerned and said I will send you an invoice on Monday and you can pay online. Support small businesses!
