We picked up for an easy weeknight dinner & were so impressed! The restaurant itself is small, with 3-4 tables, and very homey! We ordered via Grubhub & left a comment asking for chili oil on the side and they saw it! I've asked this of other restaurants so many times (and have even gone to the trouble to CALL about my order to request it...to no avail...I digress) and this was the first time it's been granted. Hallelujah! The food was good & with a little extra chili oil & salt to my preference, AMAZING! I'm also stoked about the value - this is a new neighborhood find for us & having a tasty Thai spot that's SO REASONABLY PRICED is a huge win. My husband & I ordered the Thai fried rice with chicken, Tom Yum fried rice with beef (at the reco of a fellow yelper) spring rolls, and curry puffs. Everything was tasty & we'll definitely be returning! read more

I was at this pretty good Thai place a good while ago with a group as per most of my recent reviews where we mostly shared duck dishes as they only cost $18.95 here which reminded us of prices pre Covid. In all the cases, the duck had good textures being tender with a crispy outside and it was better than the pork or the fish. The spot is small and casual and was overall good quality though more for the price point with a couple dishes that I wasn't as big a fan of due to preparation or light flavors. My favorite of the bunch was the Panang/Phaenang Duck Curry with string beans, long hot peppers, carrots, kaffir leaves, panang curry paste, and coconut milk. It was well spiced and not too sweet from the coconut milk with some heat but not too much. Outside of the curry in general, I think the duck also worked the best with this dish. The Duck Drunken Noodles/Pad Kee Mao with broad rice noodles, chili, basil, Chinese broccoli, tomato, egg, peppercorn, kaffir lime leaves, and finger root was pretty solid also. The needles had good texture with some good wok hei though I wish they were a bit spicier and I also wish that the holy basil was fried a bit more. Otherwise, this duck was particularly crispy which went well with the noodles. The largest of the duck dishes though honestly my least favorite was one of their signatures; the Tiptara Duck for $26.95 consisting of crispy duck with snow peas, bok choy, and American broccoli, with sweet & sour chef's special sauce. The price point is $8 more than the other ones as the duck portion I believe was half instead of a quarter with there being a large leg along with several other pieces. The duck was nicely crispy though I found the sauce a little bit too sweet for my liking with it also having a more gloopy texture. This was fine. The Crispy Catfish In Ginger Sauce for $21.95 consisted of fried Thai catfish in ginger, onions, scallions, and black fungus mushrooms with ginger sauce. The sauce had a slight bit of sweetness to it and was pretty tasty with there being plenty of fish which was well prepared. This was decent though not my favorite but I did appreciate the mixture of vegetables with the fungus adding a nice texture. ‍ My least favorite was easily the Pork Prik Khing for $15.95 with with string beans and bell peppers sauteed with prik khing chili paste. The dish lacked the spice I associate with this dish being very light and almost on the bland end which was unfortunate and the pork by comparison wasn't that tender. The string beans could have been cooked longer as well and they also lacked a punch. I wouldn't recommend it at all. As the meal was cheap, we got a side of String Beans With Garlic (I believe $6 or so) which was a small and decent side. I wish the string beans; just like with the prik; were cooked a bit longer and were seared. This was alright. If the price point wasn't so reasonable, I probably would give this place a 3 as two dishes were very tasty, two dishes were alright, and two dishes weren't that good. However, the duck quality was excellent and there were a couple notably tasty dishes. Mid 3 rounded up for the price point. read more

Food 4/5 Service 4.5/5 Ambiance 4/5 Very decent Thai food for a good price point Drunken noodles 4/5: a little saucy and sweet but liked the flat noodles and the ingredients overall. Portion size was just right Papaya salad 3/5: good portion but too much fish sauce that made it a bit too salty. Would prefer more sour and spicy Thai fried chicken 4/5: very good and tender chicken Calamari 4/5: batter was just right for the calamari but didn't love the sauce pairing read more

A small Thai restaurant near Chinatown / lower east side. Inside has about 5-6 tables and there's one outdoor table. Service was just okay because it was just one waitress handling everything and one chef I think. There's a nice lunch special that is available all week between 11-3pm that comes with your choice of entree + appetizer. I'm not sure if the lunch special portions are smaller than the main menu but there was more than enough food that I couldn't finish. There's also mango sticky rice that I wanted to try but was unfortunately way too full after my meal for dessert. Food was okay but nothing special. We ordered the basil fried rice with pork and the massaman curry with chicken. The prices are amazing! read more

The restaurant is quite unassuming, but don't let that deter you away! The service is straightforward - I really do appreciate not having someone stop by every 10 minutes to ask how I'm doing because let me enjoy my food in peace! We've gotten the edamame, drunken noodles, and curry here before and they were all delicious! Thai eggplants are used in the curry and they were perfectly cooked and ripe. I've had many curries with eggplants that were under-cooked, which took away from all the goodness. The other vegetables (and the edamame) were all fresh as well. The drunken noodles were painfully and deliciously spicy. No farang spice here! Would definitely stop by for a fast, delicious meal when I'm in the neighborhood again! read more

It's a cute little place with kind service! I ordered the drunken noodles with beef to take out but it was meh. Super colorful but flavor felt lacking. The beef was also very tough and for some reason didn't taste like beef to me. The lunch special comes with an appetizer so I got the crispy spring rolls which I thought it was pretty yummy. read more

A nice quiet neighborhood spot for lunch. Mid afternoon we were seated right away. The menu gives you the levels of heat designated by pepper signs. You select the protein with shrimp, chicken, pork or beef. The Massaman Curry was mild. My Penang Curry had a good sense of spice, a bit too much for my wife. Soft music played in tge background. It was nice. read more

We ordered takeout. My friend picked up the lunch so I can't comment on the service. The flavors are on point. But the portions were extremely small. We both ordered a curry (green and redl. Her curry had 3 slivers of chicken, and mine had 8. Sounds like a lot, but the amount of chicken could fit in my small fist. Will not return. read more

Tiptara - Pad Se-Ew - Thai Near Me - New York, New York

Didn't love this place. Menu wasn't very authentic, and all the food was mediocre. best dish we ordered must've been the papaya salad which was pretty good but i wouldn't rave about it. The pad thai lacked flavor in my opinion(and i'm a pad thai enthusiast). Mussels were pretty good, came with a lot. Most menu items were a good price point value. Tomkha, wasn't for me-- this was the first time trying it though. Place was super tiny and quant but that means only about 20 ppl could be seated at all at once which was fine w me, just something to be aware about if on a time limit. Service was super kind and sweet, definitely need to be patient here, the host seems to also be doing alot of work in the kitchen as well. Giving it's a 3 over a 2 for good price point. Overall, i really wanted to love this place, but the food just wasn't up to par. read more

I visited here for lunch. I got the lunch special which comes with an appetizer and a main dish. Depending on your protein, the price will go up, but you're likely to spend under $20. The spring rolls were standard and the pad see ew was good. The waitress was on top of everything. The food arrived fairly quick as well. The place is pretty small so they will provide you with your check right away. They have a good amount of foot traffic so they need to keep it moving. read more

Charming Thai spot that made me feel like I had escaped the LES for a moment when I stepped in. Came for a weekend lunch/brunch? after a late night and it was the perfect oasis. The space is downstairs and makes it a sort of hidden gem and the food here is great. I got a drunk noodles which was delicious with a Thai iced coffee. The iced coffee was a tad too sweet for my liking but I gulped it down nonetheless. Portions here are pretty large (I think they also have happy hour and lunch specials that are a great price for those interested). The space itself is pretty small and intimate with good service! read more

I get my lunch specials here during work - it includes an appetizer and a main dish. I don't think it's that spectacular, but it does the job. I don't like that the pad thai dish uses vermicelli-like noodles. Also, the pad thai tends to be very salty, taking away from the overall flavor. However, I do recommend the green curry. It has a good balance between spicy and creamy. The service is really fast, it only takes about 10 minutes of prep. I've only done take out, but the inside looks very cozy! read more

We always order takeout and Tiptara has quickly become my go-to for "what are do you want to eat?" conversation that happens so often. Their red curry with tofu is SIMPLY DIVINE. I don't know what they put in that curry or where they get their tofu, but it's a dish I will come back for again and again and again. Solid Thai food at decent prices and speedy pickup. read more

AMAZING THAI FOOD at an amazing price. We ordered Thai iced tea, drunken noodles and Tom yum fried rice. Everything was fantastic. We didn't ask for a spice level and the default was not too spicy so I would ask for a specific spice level if you're looking for a kick. Tom yum fried rice was a stand out - never had anything like it - highly highly recommend. Prompt and fast service. Quiet hole in the wall space. read more

Very good food. My go to take out spot for Thai food !!! Quick service and good prices

Actually really enjoyed this hole in the wall thai food. They weren't busy when me and my bestie stopped by and we were seated promptly. The wait for the food took a little bit but they had to put effort into making delicious dishes. I couldn't get enough of their sauce that came with the curry puffs and chicken satay with sticky rice. The curry puffs were really flaky, soft, flavorful and delicious. The chicken satay sticky rice was interesting but it was a good combination. The noodle & rice dish were fragrant and had a kick along with some authenticity to it. It was very cozy and small in this restaurant and I can't wait to come and try more dishes. read more

Came at the undying recommendation of a dear companion, and Tiptara definitely lived up to their panoply of compliments for the spot! I ordered the lunch special - tofu Pad Thai with crispy spring rolls for the appetizer, specifically! The spring rolls were delightfully warm, with a deep savory flavor that was complimented by the sweet sauce that adorned it. (Side note: the dishes are so pretty?!) While I didn't get a photo of the tofu pad thai, it was very delicious. No notes. Pictured is the crispy spring roll, a really great Thai iced tea, and 1/2 of a duo of very pleased Tiptara fans. Everything - from the company, to the decor and ambiance, to the food, to the kindness and attentiveness of the staff, to the banger hits playing throughout the restaurant - was incredibly pleasant to experience. read more

Tiptara - Thai Dumplings Pad Thai Noodle - Thai Near Me - New York, New York

I had a fantastic dining experience when I ate lunch at Tiptara. This is hands down some of the tastiest Thai food I have had before. Best Thai restaurant in the Lower East Side! The staff was extremely attentive and the service was great. The food came very quickly as well! With the 20% discount going on right now coupled with the reasonable prices of the lunch special it was well worth the price considering the portions and quality. The edamame was freshly steamed and coated with a generous sprinkle of coarse sea salt that complemented the tender texture of the beans. The amount that was provided was abundant, especially for a lunch special appetizer. The vegetable soup was shockingly delicious. It contained a panoply of fresh and colorful vegetables (carrots, broccoli, cabbage) and aromatics (like scallions). The broth was chock full of umami flavor without being too salty or heavy. I was most impressed with the Pad Se-Ew. The tofu was perfectly crisped on the outside and tender on the inside and had an incredibly satisfying mouthfeel. The noodles were chewy and smoky without being gummy. Bits of egg were interspered through the dish, offering subtly integrated pops of flavor. The vegetables were sauteed an ideal amount, wilted and caramelized in certain parts without compromising any structural integrity or crunch - they were neither overcooked nor undercooked. Fresh garnishes like the lime slice and herbs on top further escalated my dining experience. My mouth is watering thinking about this right now, hence why I am writing this review at 1am. The staff courteously offered me a refreshing Thai Iced Tea on the house after my meal which further cemented my impression of the excellent service. They also have comfortable outdoor seating options if you are COVID-conscious and/or want to soak up the Lower East Side ambience. I will definitely be back! read more

Found this place on Yelp and decided to give it a try. This will probably be my new go-to Thai restaurant. The noodle portions are big and it is so flavorful. I ordered a chicken drunken noodle and my fiancé ordered a chicken pad see ew, we were both very full afterwards. You can taste all of the spices and flavor. There was a perfect balance ratio of meat, noodles, and vegetables. Some restaurants try to skimp out and add a lot of extra onions and peppers but not Tiptara. The fried calamari is perfectly battered and seasoned well. Definitely give this place a try if you are in the area. Food: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Price: 5/5 read more
