I was a Federal Contracting Officer Rep, and had run my own Archaeological Contracting business, so I was fairly knowledgeable about the ins and outs of contracting, from both sides. I called around a dozen companies to get quotes for my rather involved HVAC/Water Heater project Because I had had so many no- shows on prior projects. I received all estimates but one, and with no charge. I used a spreadsheet to compare equipment, warranties, and followup maintenance. I also took into consideration such things like availability, knowledge, and responsiveness while placing highest value on hard data. Tipping Hat was not the cheapest, but they were the only company to offer a 10 year parts AND labor warranty on their products and services. Add a prompt, upfront estimator in Adam, who was super responsive with adjusted estimates when I made changes to the original project, and the company having offerings and maintenance plans pricing on brochures, and I saw transparency as a company standard. Huge Value Added. Do some research online about the "best" hvac to buy and you'll find one caveat repeated: it's not so much the brand of equipment but the installation quality and post sales support. Adam came out to finish the contract with financing which I got on the spot, and we set up a two and a half day schedule for the installation. The project took a crew of five 2 long days to complete and now I have a 98% efficient HVAC installed with a tankless water heater, whole house humidifier, air purifier, water ionizer, and my AC moved, with new exhaust installed that brought the whole system up to code. They left me a year's worth of furnace filters and I have two maintenance trips that are included to switch the system out at season change. My level of purchase does give me VIP acces, but since I'm a retired and disabled senior, that's not a luxury, but a wise investment in my house. Tipping Hat has been treating me well, the system is working fine (so much quieter!), and I have no buyer's remorse. TH is my go-to business for all things heating, cooling, plumbing, and electrical from here on out. Talk to Adam and he will be straight with you. The crew is mostly young but knowledgeable and without attitude; they like their job and it shows in how they respond to their customers. They embrace the company culture of Service, which I find rare and spea to their craftsmanship. From the first 5 minutes with Landon McGill, he authentically made me feel like I was the reason Tipping Hat exists. I found them through HomeAdvisor because I wanted to consider a company that worked with an AirBreeze evaporative cooler to replace my existing cooler. When Landon arrived, he took the time to understand me and my family's wants (comfort) and needs (medical). I felt like he was on my side, versus just trying to sell me something. The way he advocated for me through the whole experience - start to finish - makes me want to be an advocate for Tipping Hat. On Friday, 10-16-2020 Tipping Hat Plumbing, Heating & Electric sent Patrick Sweeney, Tyler Amato and Dustin Friedman to install a tankless hot water heater and repair a water line. Patrick had originally given us very fair, thoroughly-explained, bids on all work, and graciously came in to consult with Tyler and Dustin on 10-16--his day off--to cover all that we'd previously bid on. Tyler, and Dustin, like Patrick, were very professional, knowledgeable, and explained everything they did thoroughly. All three technicians arrived promptly even a few minutes before 8:00--we'd told them the earlier the better, so that was great. Not only did they install the hot water heater and repair the water line that had pin-hole leaks in it, one of which was in our crawl space. They even built a nice, out-of-the-way wall, as an extension to our stair well frame, on which to mount the tankless water heater. Then, without charging us anything extra, and staying even a full 9 hours to get their work thoroughly done--done the right way--they roto-rootered our main basement drain, fixed a broken drip line from our furnace, re-connected our clothes dryer exhaust pipe--which prevented our furnace from sucking in any more lint, which can be dangerous--and explained how they could fix a leaking drain trap from an upstairs shower, which could potentially present a bigger problem if not fixed soon, since it was up against the Freon line to our air conditioner. They even went further, by consulting with us about having our gas furnace thoroughly cleaned, for the sake of its longevity and our safety, explaining how lint build-up in it could cause an explosion. They truly seemed concerned about our safety, as customers--which is the attitude that insures long-term customers and long-term positive reliance on service, which greatly reduce my and my wife's anxieties. Tipping Hat also has a fantastic structured followup--up to a 10 year warranty on their work, and an inspection plan for the entire heating, plumbing and electric system every 2 years. Finally, Tyler and Dustin cleaned up well after they were done, which we appreciated, especially after such a large job. We highly recommend all three of these technicians, as they know their stuff, and care about creating safer, stress-free living environments. I think we share a fear of plumbing problems--especially water leaks--and gas leaks or furnace and water heater malfunctions, with most home owners, which these technicians alleviated. We also realize that "handy men" seem to be hired quite often by the less reputable companies. Tipping Hat service technicians, however, will never sell you short or slap things together to hurry a job for the money. They are professionals, who are willing to go beyond expectations to please the customer. OK, so first the good about the company. The installers they use work HARD to take care of things. When they were installing a furnace and A/C system, they damaged my water heater. The young man doing the work found parts for my water heater, made all repairs and corrected any concerns immediately. The installers who put in the Furnace and A/C were friendly, efficient and kind. So on the installation side, kudos to the team. BUT! Kodiak was the salesman working with us on the installation. Frankly, he flatly lied about the capability of the system and about the content of the warranty and service. THAT behavior is unacceptable. His description of what we were buying vs what was delivered was so misleading that it rises to the level of fraud to get a contract. I am someone who does not like to deal with this kind of stuff, so I bought the premium warranty and paid more than 20K to get, according to Kodiak, a full service agreement for 4 years, a system that would regulate my home to within 2 degrees between the floors of my townhouse, and would clean and humidify the air. When I told him the basement was much cooler than the other two floors, he stated that the A/C system needed a certain calibration that could only be done when the temperature was above 70 degrees (this was in December in Colorado - so think 30s) and that an installer would come out to adjust the A/C system then. He also told me when I objected to certain language that seemed to limit the system agreement that he was writing in a revision and we would get the entire signed agreement via email. Fast forward to JUNE, and we requested the review to get things sorted. The basement is still freezing and the other two floors are warm. Shawn (Sean? Not sure of the spelling.) came out and again was a nice installer - but the gist of the matter is he pretty much informed me the sales pitch was a load of BS. There are no sensors to regulate, there is no service warranty for 4 years except on the Humidifier (weird) and I got fed a line to upsell a HUGE amount for nothing. Basically their warranty promises are a scam - BEWARE! Once the system is installed you discover that the company makes empty promises, and flat out lies about the system capability, performance and their warranties under service categories. The good news for me is I am an attorney and have no qualms about filing suit to get things corrected. So, at least for me, I am going to fight until I get a fair deal, have the system removed under their guarantee, or take any steps necessary to get things corrected. WILL NEVER CALL AGAIN Looking at reviews online caused me to call Tipping Hat. The very pleasant and helpful scheduling person made me believe they did indeed have good customer service. WRONG. I called on a Thursday morning to schedule a rooter for a clogged toilet line. I was a little surprised when they scheduled for Saturday without offering an earlier appointment or asking how urgent the call was but I took the Saturday appointment. Late Friday afternoon I received a call from Amanda, and when I called her back I spoke to a representative who said she was on the phone so he would help me. He looked up my account and said he needed to reschedule my appointment for Monday. I told him we couldn't do that, because the line was worse, we can barely flush the toilet, and we have a houseful of guests coming Sunday and we only have the one bathroom. He was very polite and pleasant but simply stated he had no one to send on Saturday. There was no questions about the urgency of my problem, and no offer to perhaps reschedule someone with a less urgent problem in order to keep our appointment. So I am left with a toilet that can't be used without five minutes of plunging in order to flush with a houseful of guests coming Sunday, and it is 4:20 pm ON A FRIDAY AFTERNOON! Needless to say, I was upset and put in the position of needing to stop working so I could make calls to find a plumber who could come out before Sunday. Many were charging a fee for emergency service to get someone out quickly. It looked like Tipping Hat was going to cost me money before they ever showed up because of canceling my service call at the last minute. What good is a plumber if you wait two days for them and then they cancel on you at the last minute? I would have preferred a more expensive plumber that showed dup when they said they would. So BEWARE - if you actually need the work done when scheduled, you may be out of luck with this company! The story does have a happy ending, no thanks to Tipping Hat. The plumber I did find after Tipping Hat canceled came out early Saturday morning, was incredibly pleasant and did the most fantastic job possible. He charged us a reduced fee because it was a simple fix and he said he couldn't feel good charging the full fee when it only took him five minutes to fix. He spent another ten minutes telling us how to fix it ourselves if it happened again, and giving us maintenance tips and tricks to avoid problems. So if you're considering calling Tipping Hat, think again, and call Garvins Sewer Service instead. Garvins showed up as scheduled, and did a wonderful job for a bargain price. read more

In April, we had Tipping Hat Plumbing-Heating-Electrical replace our 20-year-old forced-air heating system and add central air conditioning. At the same time, they replaced our electrical breaker box. The HVAC is a new Amana system, for both heating and cooling. The breaker box upgrade also added a whole-house shut-off and fixed some issues. We could not be happier with the entire process, from first sales visit through after-installation follow-up. Kevin, our sales representative, was knowledgeable and patient, and took the time to answer our questions and provide multiple options. We asked for three references, and Tipping Hat delivered. We call all of them, and they called us back. The final quote was accurate, and easy to understand. The financing terms were executed as promised. The electricians that replaced our panel, Chris and Chris (father and son), were efficient, careful, considerate, professional, and patient. They went above-and beyond what was required to make certain that our electrical service was replaced with a minimum of disturbance. They reviewed our service, checked the entire house when they were done, and even replaced a few faulty outlets. We will ask for then by name the next time we use Tipping Hat for electrical work. Jeremy and Zeke, the HVAC technicians working in our home the next day were paragons of professionalism and efficiency. The utility room is small land cramped, but they removed the old system and installed the new components without so much as scratching a finished wall. We choose to add a whole-house humidifier and an ultraviolet light air cleaner, and I think that both components will add value to the system. We also choose a replacement filter subscription, and now we will have filters delivered to our door. The installation came with a service plan, with multiple tune-up visits per year (important to us because we maintain our home systems diligently). They worked very quickly and carefully, tested everything, and left no mess in our house or back yard. We chose an Ecobee5 smart thermostat, and they helped me set up its initial programming. The new thermostat was wired with a minimal amount of drywall damage - and even that was repaired by Tipping Hat a few days later with no problems. The entire experience has been positive, and we look forward to having Tipping Hat help us in the future with plumbing/electrical/water heater upgrades in the future. read more

Kevin R showed up on the time frame after he gave me a courtesy call to let me know he is on his way. He diagnostic my air conditioning. He told me the bad news with empathy. He gave me 3 options to choose from and he also gave me the discounts and helped me with financing after he called at the office about my situation. I was very lucky to have some help. There was another guy (I didn't remember his name but his kindness) showed up to install my a/c. He was really professional and making sure everything is working in order. Next day, I have no hot water. I was very frustrated. I noticed the switch was off and I turned it on see if I am getting any hot water with no effort. Finally I got the hot water when Zabih P just showed up. I asked him if he could double check to make sure nothing is out of ordinary. His co-worker might have forgotten to switch it back on, not intentionally. I asked him about the filters I was told it was part of the package deal. I was wondering how this work. Zabih called at the office about the filter; he asked me I will be home; because he have to pick them up at the Home Depot. He did come back with the right size filters. I was very pleased how great professional and kindness he is. They are very lucky to have him! I gave his co-worker the rebate forms to fill out; because there are some area they have to filled out. HE told me, he will drop these office first thing in the morning. I called at the office about the rebate forms; I was told they will take care of it. I really hope I will get the rebate back; which I am still waiting for it. I received the phone call asking me if I did receive the package while I was at work. I did received the package; however it wasn't the right size. I called them to give them the heads up left in the message. I would like to return it back to them. NOTE: If these filters are the right sizes; I would still not keeping these. I knew there was lack of communication somewhere. They never returned my call. I would like to give them a big 5 stars. I signed up for a membership from Tipping Hat plumbing and, from the beginning, received inconsistent and conflicting information from multiple representatives regarding how the membership worked. This lack of clarity continued throughout my experience. I scheduled a water heater flush and was given a service window for the technician's arrival. When the window passed with no technician showing up, I contacted the company myself, only to be told that the technician would not arrive for another three hours. I should have been notified proactively, rather than having to call to obtain this information. During the visit, the technician informed me that my water heater needed to be replaced at a cost of $12,000. After researching typical pricing, this estimate appeared significantly higher than industry standards. I then requested a second opinion from Swan Plumbing. Swan confirmed that my water heater did not need to be replaced and stated that, if replacement were ever necessary, the cost would be approximately $6,500--nearly half of Tipping Hat's quote. Additionally, Tipping Hat advised that a pipe inside my wall needed replacement due to high pressure and quoted $2,200 for the job, reduced to $1,800 with my membership discount. Swan Plumbing was surprised by this pricing and confirmed that the pipe did not need replacement. They indicated that, if it did, the job would typically cost around $600. Notably, both companies stated they tend to be more expensive than average, making the pricing discrepancy even more concerning. I was also told prior to signing up that the membership could be canceled at any time. However, when I called to cancel, I was informed that although I could cancel, I would still be responsible for paying the remainder of the year because services had already been rendered. Once again, the information varied depending on who I spoke with. As a result, I now have two plumbing memberships but will only be using Swan Plumbing, as they were honest, transparent, and straightforward. My experience with Tipping Hat Plumbing was extremely disappointing. I rarely leave negative reviews, but I believe it is important for others to be aware of these issues before committing to their services. read more

Let me just start off with this, my house was a mess as far as electrical problems. I found out about Tipping Hat through Home Advisor, decided to use them based off the awesome reviews these guys had (and for good reason). I hired them initially to install a new outlet for the tv in my living room, moving an outlet out of the sunroom and 3 ceiling fan installs. Chad was the first electrician I had come to my house. This guy is one of the nicest and most professional people I've let into my home. Whenever he ran a little late or just needed to keep me in the loop, he always did! Chad and Nick installed my outlets and even replaced the outside one with a GFCI. They were very knowledgeable and explained everything to me perfectly. As they were going about their business, Chad noticed my breaker box was a model that is known for causing house fires, not to mention it was illegal because it was in enclosed space (sunroom). So he told me about it and recommended his Master Electrician Justin come in to take a look and verify that info. Fast forward a couple days Chad returns to install my ceiling fans (did an awesome job considering the wiring in my house is as if the house was built in the 1920's) and Justin comes a couple of hours later. Another extremely professional and knowledgeable electrician. Long story short, these guys saved my home from being burned down to the ground. Justin couldn't do the work that week but he had another electrician come in and replace everything. Steve was great as well. He didn't want to give up on yet another annoying outlet in my house and stayed until he fixed it. This company is amazing! I'm beyond satisfied with the work done and how they kept me laughing throughout the whole process! This was extremely stressful for me but these guys kept me at ease. I can't recommend them enough. We are first-time homeowners and got the news that our furnace of 21 years was on its way out. We came across Tipping Hat by chance and we are so pleased with the quality and level of professionalism we received. From start to finish they were very punctual. Austin H. arrived right on time and got down to business. He gave us the entire run down on our old furnace and was very detailed with his inspection. He took the time to show us pictures of the inside of our furnace and explained exactly what was wrong and what we needed to do to fix it. Well for starters I've always seen one of your trucks in the nearby neighborhood so when I got a coupon just in time for my water heater to go down you guys are the first ones I called. Skipping right to the technician, he did amazing!!! First off his professionalism was top notch!! I swear as soon as the 1st guy that does the estimate pulled off mr. Roman Piele came around the corner like a super hero. All same day response as Excel had red tagged my water heater over a small gas leak on a part that they don't make anymore so an entire replace was required, and let me tell you did he have his work cut out for him!! My gas lines went from 3/4" to 1/2" and back to 3/4" for no apparent reason at all. I had no handle for a shut off valve so a tool had to be fetched every time the gas had to be shut off to the unit. He even replaced some old furnace piping that was all over the board as well, which when he did that he so graciously took all the dirt and debree clogging my furnace out as well. He really just surprised me with how above and beyond he went for me... after one of the roughest weeks of 2020 he made it just a tiny bit better and for that I really do thank him and this company. I was able to take a steaming hot shower right after he left. Best one of my life!!!! He also went the extra step to make sure things were installed to prevent pressure in our pipes. Our house and most plumbing is from the 60s we need all the TLC we can get. Long story short, im calling yall again for my furnace and AC replacement here in a few months! I live in Bailey and it seems like no one likes to drive up here, even though the drive is shorter and much more scenic with less traffic than going from DTC to Thornton. We have a couple of Boiler repairman up here but they are always backed up for weeks so I figured I would give Tipping Hat {Heck, I'm a Texan so why not!} a try. My boiler is 22 years old, so past its prime and was having serious problems. No heat in the house you can deal with, with space heaters but when the thing goes out on you and you don't have hot water for a shower, then it's time for action. I had the boiler cleaned last summer and that technician {with another company} also stated the unit was already exceeding its lifespan. So I figured I would need to break down and buy a new unit soon. Chad had also come out just a month prior and cleaned and replaced a control module so he was familiar with the unit. From the prior visit I knew I could trust Chad and Tipping Hat so when Chad and I chatted via text {because cell service is spotty up here} about the challenges I was having I knew I could take his professional opinion. James Peckham came up and installed the new unit. James was professional and explained the process of taking out the old and putting in the new. The process took about 5 hours and Chad processed my application for the new boiler in just minutes. Yeah 12k might seem like a lot for a new boiler but when they last 20+ years, and my new unit is estimated to last over 30, it's worth it and simply a part of having a home. My furnace went out and the AC was on its way out so I was looking for estimates on what it would cost to replace a furnace and AC. I got 3 different estimates. Ultimately I decided to go with the Tipping Hat because I felt that they offered the best overall package for everything and had excellent finance options. From the start, I was impressed with how communicative they were regarding appointments on estimates and installation via text/phone. During the estimation process, Kevin did an excellent and thorough job of going through all of the the different options of specific furnace and ac units to choose from. I never felt pressured and he answered all the questions that I had. Everything was smooth and straight to the point. I scheduled an install and the work was completed in a day. Jeremy and Zabih were professional and the install went smoothly. They made sure to cover any areas that they were working on so that there would be no damages and it would be clean. After the installation, they did a great job of cleaning up and making sure no trash was left behind. Jeremy did a walk through of everything that was installed, how to operate/maintain the equipment, and went over the thermostat operation. Overall what could have been a stressful experience was really made easy and painless from start to finish by Kevin, Jeremy, Zabih, and the staff at Tipping Hat. My wife and I came home on a Tuesday evening to a hot House ( 88 degrees), just miserable. We never used Tipping Hat before but they could come the soonest, early Thursday morning. On Thursday the technician tore my AC and Furnace apart physically showing me how my 28 year old Furnace and 18 year old AC were shot. An hour later the quote/hvac specialist had some prices for me. I was expecting 15k to 20k for both units and probably another week to install. I was very happy to hear the cost was under 15k and they could install tomorrow. By 8:30 A.M. the crew was here, Austin was my head technician he was awesome. The whole crew was great, Austin said 6 to 8 hours for total install it took 7 hours. Unfortunately an hour after the crew left a sensor was triggered setting an Alert on my new fancy thermostat. Austin came back Saturday morning and checked out everything reset the alert and even went the extra mile to show/tell me the alerts and how to fix them. None of these Alerts needed tools to fix like check the filter or the GI switch needs to be reset, easy homeowner fixes. Tipping Hat has forever customer's with my wife and me. With the first 2 employees ( fix it guy, HVAC/quote guy), both knowledgeable and professional then the 8 or so install crew, with Austin leading where professional, knowledgeable, caring of my home and 3 dogs. Let me start off by saying Tipping Hat Plumbing, Heating and Electric is top notch......from the sales process all the way to the final product. We had the furnace, water heater and water filtration system replaced yesterday. The install crew showed up on time (and with a convoy). We went over the current setup, discussed the end result and they got to work. It was clear that all three techs treat the install like they were installing in their own home. They were thorough, careful and diligent as they moved the propane line for the furnace/water heater, ran new copper piping for the filtration system and added new vents and exhaust for furnace (among everything that goes into replacing a 25 year old furnace and hot water heater and a lackluster water filtration system). All of the techs were knowledgeable, friendly and courteous. I could not be happier...it was a big job and the Tipping Hat techs brought their A-game. Thanks the Sean for putting together a sweet deal and making the sales process painless and thanks to Roman, Chappy and Jacob for the finished product. The Tuesday before Thanksgiving, I woke up to a 52º house. My 30-year-old furnace finally gave up the ghost. I called Tipping Hat and was greeted by Nancy (?) at 7:52 am. She was immediately empathetic and got me on the schedule. Adam arrived at my house that afternoon and diagnosed the death of said furnace. He shared my options for repair or replacement and the price point for each. At no point did I feel pressured to choose one over the other. After deciding on the replacement, I was put on the schedule for the following morning. Floyd and Juan arrived 15 minutes before their scheduled time and let me tell you, they were the dream team! Professional, kind, and very careful of my house. They had the installation done well before the estimated time. They cleaned up after themselves, and they made sure everything was shipshape and I knew how to run the system. Then later that night, I got a knock on the door to find Adam standing there at the end of his day. He wanted to do a walkthrough to make sure all looked well and to double-check to see if I had any questions. We scheduled an appointment for a tune up on our furnace. Philip called to let us know that Chris was on his way and he showed up right on time. He was so courteous and helpful - he explained some of the parts on our furnace and showed us what to check for if we run into issues since it is an older furnace. While he was inspecting the furnace he noticed that our water heater had some corrosion on it since the two appliances are right next to each other. He suggested that it should probably be replaced in the near future (we were actually expecting this news when we bought our house) due to the amount of corrosion and he seemed genuinely concerned about the water heater and he wasn't just trying to make a sale. He gave some prices (which many of the other companies wouldn't do without charging for an inspection) for different options and told us about financing. We also need some of our electrical rewired so we called to schedule an appointment for them to look at what needs to be done. They were able to come inspect it within 3 days and we will be be getting both items fixed within a week and for a much better price than another company with great financing. read more
