DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY Research their history on the Better Business Bureau website. They have engaged in similar practices in the past. My 86-year-old father hired them to replace two toilet fill valves and flappers. They charged him $677 twice, totaling $1354. Despite multiple attempts to contact them, I was unable to obtain a return call. I eventually spoke with Cyan, Kevin, and Jillian (none of whom were able to assist). I left several messages and sent two emails. Finally, I spoke with Marissa, the manager, who insisted that the price was reasonable for Castle Rock, CO. She now requires my father to obtain another quote, learn to navigate the internet, scan and email her the quote in order to price match a fair charge for the same service. They are not honoring their 100% satisfaction guarantee, which is prominently displayed on their website and in the paperwork/invoice that I had to request from them. My father was unaware of the typical charge for this service and did not inform me until it was completed and paid for. He even tipped the technician, Cameron Woods, $20 to purchase lunch after the job. He accepted the tip! This constitutes fraud against the elderly on an unprecedented scale. I posted on Nextdoor seeking advice and received over 80 comments from plumbers, neighbors, and handymen who indicated how unfair this situation was. I will report them to the Federal Trade Commission, the Attorney General's office, the Colorado Electrical Examining Board of Plumbers, the Better Business Bureau, and local news stations to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future. read more

I bought an air conditioning unit from this company last summer and everything went great. UNTIL this summer when it stopped working. My house is heating up to 80 degrees and I have dogs and an elderly mother living in my home. I called Tipping Hat on Monday, June 29th and was told there were no "warranty" appointments until JULY 10TH. I was told if I call another company to fix my air conditioning, my warranty would be void. I spent several thousand dollars to NOT have this issue this summer. They said they would watch for cancelled appointments to see if I could get something sooner. I called again today, Wednesday, July 1st. They told me that "warranty" appointments aren't a "thing." This is completely ridiculous. I can't hire a different company, because I obviously need the warranty since the crap air conditioner they sold me already stopped working after barely a year! I had to have a deep cleaning on my furnace. Steven did a great job. The problem I had the guy that came the day before said I had to pay ahead of time. He charged me $750. Unfortunately I needed done right if way. The next day after Steven cleaned it he told me it was $500. I told him I already paid. For a deep cleaning I saw it should cost around $400. I would strongly recommend Tipping Hat from my personal experience. I had someone from Nextdoor charge me $2000 and fix absolutely nothing and give me a strong quote on a new furnace. The furnace they were trying to sell me was an 80% efficiency furnace at a low price. Tipping Hat looked at my bid and gave me a bid on a higher quality and more efficient furnace at the same price. Tipping Hat is a professional operation. Their in-house electrition was here at no extra charge and resolved some electrical box issues I planning on paying extra for. What a horrible customer service experience, and we are done with tipping hat for any services. Those two techs had the nerve to try scare tactics, which we will never fall for, and quoted us for work to be redone that was previously done by tipping hat. I have had nothing but trouble dealing with this company over the past 5-6 years - including during the initial installation. They do not do what they say they will, they constantly bump appointments. I have finally had it and am going to use a new service company even though I have paid for a few more years of maintenance through Tipping Hat. I took off work twice and they no showed. The day they did show up on time, novices sat around for 2 hours waiting for a supervisor. Thankfully they subcontracted job out, and it got done. Now this is on me, but once the floor was torn up, the price went from 4k to 15k. I should have gotten more quotes before letting them work on my home. Call to get an aproximate price of replacing a kitchen faucet-I had already purchased the exact faucet. Turn on valve under the sink. I also asked about replacing the insides of tiolet--again I had product. I asked for an aproximate, knowing situations arise--was told no more than $150 for both. Thought that was more than fair--I wrote down the numbers and the gentleman's name who helped me. When the techician arrived--he was very nice and courteous--told me $507 just to replace faucet. He told me not to worry, he would take off $100. Really??? He then went to his truck and had theinitial phone call replayed--verifiying everything I was told. I had a really disappointing experience with Tipping Hat. We purchased their two-year "no breakdown guarantee" furnace rejuvenation service, yet our furnace failed barely a year later. That guarantee turned out to be useless as the cost for it was only to be applied to future services with them, which their prices were double the price that every other company estimated. On top of that, it took them several days just to come out and take a look even after expressing serious concern because it was cold outside, our furnace stopped working, and we have a baby in the house. When they finally arrived, they showed up with both a technician and a salesman who came across as extremely pushy. The whole interaction felt more like a sales pitch than actual help. I felt like I was being scared into purchasing more than what we needed for the house and current age of our HVAC systems. In addition, both gentlemen spent the entire sales pitch talking down to me as my husband was at work and they must have seen me as a damsel in distress-- I understand that I don't know much about HVAC, but we've worked with other HVAC companies (that ended up with our business) who never belittled or condescended me as a sales tactic. I don't need an HVAC technician to tell me to "breathe", I need them to fix what is broken for a reasonable price and do so respectfully. Given the inflated prices, slow response time, and uncomfortable pressure tactics, I strongly advise against using Tipping Hat for HVAC services. read more

Monday before Thanksgiving -- Emergency sewer line clogged. Raw sewage seeping up in basement shower and utility room. Called several plumbers -- 4-5 told me they were busy and could come in 7-10 days -- unacceptable. Tipping Hat said they could send someone out that day. Zack showed up. He diagnosed the problem expertly. He tried to snake or use the cable in my main sewer line. Repeatedly -- could not get through my clog. Called his supervisor, Kodiac who came out in short order. He used the camera to help determine what we were up against. Using their technology of camera and water detector, they traced the main sewer line and figured out the location of the blockage. Good news -- they figured it out. However, bad for me, the solution meant excavation and a major expense. Kodiac provided options and alternatives and explained that all landscaping would be replaced so that when they were finished the outside would look just like before. I picked one option and we scheduled the "dig" team for the next afternoon. About 7am, I got a phone call, one of their dig teams was available, could they come now -- Hell yes. Come on - I'm goanna need to flush toilets sometime soon! So Tipping Hat dug out a 4' hole in my back yard, broke through a 70-year-old clay sewer pipe, installed a temporary plastic pipe so we could use water in the house and put-up safety measures over the excavated hole. With the holiday, they promised to return on the following Monday. The next week, the first thing, their dig crew is back and hard at work putting in a clean out valve and filling in the hole. Then they worked on landscaping, while the supervisor kept telling me, they were not professional landscapers, his team would not stop until they made it near perfect. (I had a 4' concrete slab that had to be replaced and leveled. Nice job team. So what I appreciated -- Tipping Hat made my emergency -- their priority. Yes, it was expensive, yes it was a lot of hard work in a holiday week, everything done by a professional, knowledgeable group. read more

This could easily have been a 5 star review. They did the work that they were hired to do in a timely manner at a fair price. However, they did permanent damage to my home in the process. I had new carpet installed a few weeks ago. This was not off-the-rack carpet; I worked with a good contractor to have it custom cut and installed so that there were no seams except in a couple of doorways, under floorplates. Very sadly, just a couple of weeks after it was installed, I discovered that I had significant pipe damage under the concrete floor and under that brand new carpet! We called Tipping Hat as we have used them in the past and were very impressed. They were great again about getting to us quickly, breaking the news gently and repairing the whole thing in less than 2 days. After they left, I discovered that TH had cut through the carpet rather than rolling it up and out of the way and left a large, jagged slice in the hallway. Fortunately, our carpet guy is a magician and got it pieced back together, but that seam is going to wear regardless. When I pointed this out to TH, I was offered an apology and the explanation that the "only" other option was to move "everything" (boxes, bins, furniture, etc) that was still waiting to be put away after the carpet installation. Had I known what they were planning I would've either rescheduled them and had the stuff moved, and/or had my carpet installer come to explore best options. I later discovered that TH had also cut through the carpet in a doorway in a way that cannot be repaired. Taking a minute or so to remove the floor plate and cutting under it rather than alongside it as they did would have prevented this. Do not use this company! We decided to replace our older water heater and contacted them to get an estimate. One of their plumbers came over to look over everything, told us what would be needed, time of the job and then proceeded to sit down with his extended warranty costs and total cost depending on what warranty we decide on. Well to say the least it was shocking! Price was $ 7200 to $ 6700. Are you f-ing kidding me, seriously? Requested a bid on a plumbing job replacing old drain lines and water lines all of which are completely exposed from some demolition in a bathroom that is getting ready to be rebuilt. Also wanted the toilet reseated with new flange, sink replaced and an overflow replaced on the bathroom above the bathroom being remodeled because of the new pipes. The dude came back with a bid stating $14,000. WTF? He did not reek of pot but clearly he must have been high. I could get my bathroom ripped down to the studs, rebuilt with all brand new fixtures and all the plumbing replaced with top of the line stuff for less than that. I gave 2 stars instead of 1 because they were punctual and showed up on time. I almost didn't give the extra star because they hound you until you book an appointment. The plumber never sent me the bid to the email I gave him after I told him the price was WAY high. Had Tipping Hat install a brand new AC/Heating system last summer. 20K. Last Saturday night April 4 the system shut down. No heat, no AC and the thermostat also doesn't work. Called on Sunday to their answering service, left all the pertinent information. Heard nothing back. On Monday the 6th, called again. I was told it would be 3 weeks or more until they could send someone out for a repair on a system with a 10 year warranty. The Temp outside is in the 40's. We had a smoke detector start chirping in the middle of the night (uggghhhhh!!!). First thing this morning, I reached out via the Yelp app for electrical inspection quotes. My only response was from Tipping Point and they responded within 10 mins of the request. I called to see if they could get someone out ASAP and got William scheduled for 9am. He came out and was awesome! He was super polite and friendly upon entering the house. What I loved is that he immediately put on his shoe protection coverings without me even asking (especially since we shampooed the carpets yesterday). We had a smoke detector issue that he solved in no time. It was super easy and he even showed me how to reset it, in case we ever need to do that before someone can come look at it. If anyone out there has been foolish enough to purchase the $3,500 service plan (like me) and is unhappy with the service, please reach out. We were so happy initially with the install of our AC unit but getting them to come out for the bi-annual service that's included in the service plan has been very disappointing. They have cancelled last minute more than a few times. When I tried to get a prorated refund on the plan, I was met with "your install was given a substantial discount based on your pre-purchase of the service plan". There is most certainly something uncomfortably questionable going on with their business practices. Very sad state of affairs. read more

I had a main drain backup. Flush the toilet and water comes out the pea drain the the basement. This happens every six years in early spring, like clock work. I called Tipping Hat at 9am and the very courteous woman that answered set me up for a window from 11 to 1. Ten minutes after 11, TH was on scene. An extremely pleasant tech named Brandon knocked on the door and introduced himself. I walked him to the basement and he got to work. This man was as polite and professional as I've dealt with in some time. He wore show protectors and did a great job respecting my house. He ran a camera down my drain but since it was full of water, the view wasn't very good. His supervisor, Julio, came in to help. They power snaked my drain and the clog cleared. Then they reran then camera and visibility was perfect. My drain was in perfect working order minus a place where roots clearly come through. When it was all said and done, my drain was cleared and functioning, the entire run of pipe cammed and inspected. They cleaned the entire work area and capped my drain. They removed all their tools and I paid the bill. The entire bill for all that labor and and cam work. 125 bucks. The work done was worth every penny but I can't say enough about Brandon and Julio. They were professional and hard working while being funny, chatty and downright friendly at the same time. It was a joy having them in the house. Julio made some recommendations on work that would fix the root problem but at no time tried to upsell us into expensive fixes I didn't currently need. Neither brought any pressure to the situation nor treated me like I was stupid. I hope I don't need this companies services anytime in the near future but if I do, Tipping Hat is who I'd call. read more

We were extremely pleased with the service we received from Wayne and Mark. They went above and beyond to ensure our satisfaction. We called yesterday for an appointment and Wayne came promptly at the agreed upon time. He quickly performed an evaluation of our problem and also evaluated our water pressure issue. Turns out, he probably saved us from a disaster! He and his partner Mark resolved our problems with professionalism and knowledge. I had a technician come out because my gas water heater kept shutting down. He spent a good 1+ hours trying to figure out the issue, working with the manufacturer on the phone. He seemed very thorough, and it was determined that the gas valve was bad. The water heater was under warranty, so I got a free gas valve overnighted. They quoted me a whopping $586 to replace it the next day, which I reluctantly agreed to, which only took 1 hour. But the problem persisted. It turns out that it was not the gas valve, but low gas supply pressure, which I myself finally diagnosed and had the technician verify on a second visit. He then told me I would need to re-pipe the gas line which would be thousands of dollars. If he had diagnosed that at first, I would not have moved forward with the job and could have saved $600+. I am planning now to convert to an electric water heater. I really wanted to give a good review, as the technician was very nice, responsive, and came out very quickly, but in the end, the problem was misdiagnosed and now I am out $600+ with no recourse. So in the end, I will not be using them anymore since they are way too expensive and apparently have inexperienced technicians. read more
