2025 Update: Service (5): Absolutely lovely. The person womanning the register, dining room and phone lines was killing it and so charming + friendly all around despite wearing her many hats. We had a takeout order that was timed exactly as she said it would be. Takeout Packaging (1): This is the type of takeout packaging that makes me self flagellate and resolve never to do this again.... Most items came in polystyrene -- e.g. non recyclable, non compostable styrofoam. And each of the sopes we received in our order (three per order) came packaged separately in small containers, which was wildly inefficient. (Why not have all three sopes in an order come in a single container at least?) Some of the order was packaged in aluminum and clear plastic containers, which usually recycle if clean. Food (3): Let's start with the good: The kitchen still uses beautiful, ripe avocados. And stewed animal proteins were commendably slow cooked and tender. But the "sopes" were made with very thick cut, flat, hard, dry, packaged tortillas, not the boat-like kind with a ridge, shaped by hand from masa, freshly fried. We are spoiled by our access to the latter, so Tio's current version was quite disappointing. In years past, I remember the sopes being made from masa harina and griddled at least, if not deep fried, not just reheated from a package. Sauces used for enchiladas and other dishes were quite clearly straight from a can or a jar. Food was serviceable for our hurried meal, but not something we feel like we need to do again, especially given how far Latin and South American cuisines have come in these parts over the last 10+ years. There are inflationary pressures everywhere, and Tio's portion sizes remain enormous, so it makes sense that quality would have to concede some ground. It has clearly done so since our last try. If something has to give, my personal druthers would be for portion sizes to be smaller and/or prices to reflect inflation, rather than experience this kind of reduction in quality. My girlfriend and I went to Tio's on Wednesday September 27th for dinner. This was our first time. Our waiter appeared to be the only front of house staff working on this night and he was wonderful. We were the only two eating in. We had some delicious margaritas, the best guacamole we have ever had and 2 awesome meals. My girlfriend had the tacos and I had the Huaraches. Total including drinks/guac was $55 before tip, so $25 per person date night is very reasonable in 2023! Will go again soon. read more

Hands down the best Mexican restaurant I've been to. Fresh, homemade and authentic. Going to Tios felt just like going to my "aunt and uncles" place. Right when you walk in, you immediately feel at home. The feels, the vibes, bring you right in. Its not a huge restaurant nor is it your typical food chain so don't expect that. It's a family owned business with close friends that work here. They truly take care of you and are extremely sweet and attentive. Expect to be greeted with a smile and chips with salsa. Can't say no to that! Going for the first time I was just expecting the typical "Mexican" food that I'm used to: melted cheddar cheese, lots of sour cream, the usual. I was completely wrong. Upon ordering different things on the menu I particularly fell in love with the Huarache. Not only was it vegetarian friendly it was amazing. Made with a fresh handmade tortilla, fresh ingredients, crispy vegetables, crumbled white cheese and delicious aaahhhh-vocado. This dish was outstanding. Some of the dishes are big enough to share. I would recommend splitting a guacamole with chips and sharing a plate. You will be satisfied with all the flavors that explode in your mouth and the refreshing fresh ingredients will leave you wanting more. Bottom line, go for the margaritas, don't skip guac, come hungry but make sure to split your food. You will love it. Just be patient, don't come rushed and be nice to them. We order from here once and awhile and tonight we had a complicated order and they went above and beyond... they don't offer sides online order but they sent black beans and rice - and we aren't all vegan here but one of us is, it was like they read my mind. I've driven past Tios restaurant several times and wondered how it was. Well, I'm sorry I waited so long to stop in. It's a diamond in the rough! When we arrived, it seemed as if there was a dinner rush and it was nearing the end. Several tables had not been clean, but we found one and were told to sit where we wanted. When our waitress came over she was super sweet and polite! She asked if we needed menus or were ok with the QR code and asked if we wanted to start with drinks! Wow! The Margaritas were amazing! We ordered Quesadillas and Chicken Enchiladas to share! Amazingly tasty and they looked great! Portion sizes were huge! Strongly recommend giving Tios a try! We will definitely be back. Called ahead letting the Owner know we would be 8 Locals celebrating 2 birthdays and asked for a table in the bar area not knowing the bar was not in service and we had to stare at the back of furniture all night AND the heat wasn't turned on and their thermostat said 55 degrees. What's worse the one waiter/bartender there to take care of us, the bar and their dinning room never asked if everything was ok while we sat there like idiots with literally our winter Parker's on. Did he really not notice all 8 of us were freezing? So no frozen margaritas. Drinks were hard to get. Waiter was more concerned with his order pad then guests. Guac was great, chips and salsa good too, but they added some neon food cool that looked like Christmas exploded on your plate and all I could think of is why taint good food with artificial food coloring? When I first entered, I was a little thrown by the fact we were greeted with a dark room full of children staring at us, like we were interrupting the show on their iPad. Thankfully, this was just the party room, and after making a quick right turn and walking down a short hallway, we came to the main dining room, which was very bright, and nicely decorated. The waitstaff was incredibly nice, and we were offered free chips and salsa, which was very good and very different than the "usual" free salsa that most places have. You know the kind I'm talking about. The food itself was more on the authentic side than a lot of the places I've visited, which was a very welcome change. The sauces were very tasty and meats were cooked very well. However I found everything to be so so rich. Incredibly rich, perhaps even more so than Jeff Bezos. I could only make it through 2/3 of the tostadas on my dish because of how rich they were. Even though the small side of guac I got was creamy and very indulgent, it was still very good. The best, most authentic mexican food that we've had on the East Coast. Our first visit here, we just drove by and decided to stop for lunch. We happen to be in the area for the day. It's not your run if the mill Mexican food that we've become accustomed to, this is authentic! Always a treat for your eyes as well as your pallet. Their American menu is just as delicious with the best Cobb Salad hands down in the area. Service is always welcoming & accommodating to special requests. What a nice little restaurant! We thought Tio's had very tasty, homemade food and although the margarita wasn't made with fresh lime juice, it was still a good size and pretty good. I had beef tongue sopes which were delicious. My husband(a die hard burger guy) had the Mexican burger and fries which he described as a good homemade patty with yummy melted cheese. Our friend had the chicken tacos and he loved them. The atmosphere was pretty plain but didn't detract from our experience. Not sure what some reviewers were talking about. I thought the food was excellent, authenic and fresh. Plus, they have fantastic prices. The service is super friendly and thoughtful if a little slow. I let this slide since this place is pretty new and they seemed short staffed. Hubs and I went on a Tues night and the dining room was over half full. Good sign. I got tacos as an attempt at an accurate baseline. I was pleasantly surprised that they offered lengua (beef tongue) as a meat option. It comes with 3, I got lengua, chicken and al pastor. The al pastor could be the best I've ever had. The portions are generous especially for the price. Three tacos (of which, I could only eat two) plus beans and rice for only $10! Hubbie got enchiladas poblanas with a mole sauce. Also a huge portion for around $13. He was also pleased to see an authentic mole sauce. Overall, we'll definitely be back.
