My wife and I went here last night. She ordered the shrimp fajitas and I asked for a combo of a taco, enchilada, and chile relleno. I wanted to try as much as I could since we had never been there. The shredded beef and taco shell were very good and the relleno was above a erage with a tasty sauce. I did not eat the enchilada but tasted the sauce. It was good. The chips and salsa were very good and so were the rice and beans. My wife's fajitas included overcooked shrimp (to be expected) and way too many green bell peppers, though all was tasty. The guac was quite good on the side. The service was admirable, earning them a nice fat cash tip. We have decided that this will be our sit down, Americanized Mexican place when we are in Eugene. Normally very happy at Tio Pepes. I normally get the carne asada, or the chile rellenos, and they are good. I have been wanting to try the fajitas... Lunch version of Steak fajitas.... Huge amount of peppers, onions, etc... nicely cooked, still a little crisp, tasty. Steak? Maybe 9 or 10 small bites, kind of tough and chewy, no char or browning, just gray meat, and not much flavor. Tortillas.. ok, refried beans were cold and runny, the pico was good, as was the guacamole So this was basically veggie fajitas with smidgeon of meat. Not what I wanted. When I mentioned it, they said that was the standard lunch fajitas... and the full dinner portion has more meat (and more expensive too). But the thing is, based on the lunch fajitas... I walked in and asked if there was a wait for a family of five and was told there was no wait. I walked outside in the pouring rain to unload my family and walked back inside only to be told there is now an hour wait. There were clearly open seats available and an open table for 6 clearly in view, but apparently something changed within the few minutes I unloaded my family and they would not seat us. I feel frustrated and will certainly not be returning to eat here. read more

Came here often growing up and finally made a return after 5+ years. I will say it looks and feels the same walking in now as it did then. Service is very friendly and often checked in to see if we needed anything else. The margaritas were delicious, I would definitely come back solely for them. All around great experience. Friendly, attentive staff. Colorful decor with traditional music for a cultural atmosphere. They have spicy red beers like a Bloody Mary but beer. Delicious food. Hands-down our favorite go to meal is a large guacamole, a couple of sodas and the incredible enchiladas trio. Tried Tio's for delivery again, this time ordering the Tio Pepe nachos with chicken and the shrimp fajitas. They called us not long after we ordered online to confirm some details which was nice but also confusing, because the description online for the nachos said they came with beef but they asked if we wanted shredded or ground beef or chicken. They also asked what type of tortilla we wanted with the fajitas. This wasn't an option when we ordered online so seems like there might be a couple of things to fix in that regard. We received our food super fast so that's awesome. Was disappointed to see that they're still using Styrofoam containers. The fajitas container had gotten punctured at some point so was leaking in the bag. The nachos were hefty! The flavor and everything was good, however, the chips were basically broken down to soggy tortillas by the time we got them so mental note for next time, that's probably an item better ordered when eating in the restaurant! The fajitas had good flavor, I enjoyed them. It came with about 7 shrimp, my only complaint is that they were tail-on, meaning I had to pull the tails off by hand before eating. They forgot the tortillas they called and asked about so that was a bummer but I guess it just saved me the unnecessary carbs. The fajitas were flavorful enough to have on their own so that's fine. While my overall rate didn't change, I did want to update the review for having tried something new and give some advice. read more

The tex mex here is very good. Chips and salsa are very standard fair. Chalupa was well made and even had guac which most places don't add without charge. Tamale was good but not memorable. Beans needed a touch of salt. Rice was well made. Chile verde was super good, very succulent pieces of pork. Service stunk, water sat empty halfway through the meal until we left. I can't believe I've forgotten to review tio Pepe, until now. I've been eating at this restaurant for well over a decade. Certainly before the time of yelp. With all the years and miles since my first visit, they've remained one of my favorite places when hunger strikes. Sometimes I just go for the pico and taquitos. But I've enjoyed all the dishes I've had here over the years. I wouldn't say they're the best at any singular dish, but they're consistently good/clean/gracious. Ordered Enchiladas Rancheras through Postmates for $15.85 and all I got was very small amount of cheese inside the enchiladas (see pictures attached). I had to dissect the enchiladas to look for meat but I did not find anything. This dish came with rice and honestly confused why it costs $15.85 as they sell enchiladas a la carte for less than $4. This is our go to when we are craving flavorful, quality Mexican cuisine. EVERYTHING we have tried has been consistently delicious. Especially their Chile Verde (thick, flavorful sauce and the pork is always tender with no fatty chunks). Their salsa tastes great, and their potato tacos are highly recommended. If I wasn't so addicted to their Chile Verde, I would try their many other dishes but I can't get enough.
