I am extremely disappointed by the service and professionalism of this company, and would urge people to steer clear. We hired them to do bartending for us on our wedding night, and they hired first time bartenders and did not batch make cocktails as we had planned. As a result, the lines were incredibly long (our friends weren't on the dance floor because they were in line), and the cocktails did not taste at all like they did during our tasting. We brought this up after the wedding and they agreed to give us a partial refund. This was over 9 months ago and they haven't returned any of our calls or emails since then. They are clearly still operating but just avoiding us... It's very unprofessional to provide a significantly subpar service and then not deliver on a promised refund (that was in writing). I really hate writing bad reviews for small businesses but given this is a customer service driven industry, this is just unacceptable behavior and I want others to know before deciding to continue with Sheild. read more

I happened eat here during the first annual Tacos and Tequila event and the Public House and was very surprised. I had their special Shrimp Ceviche and my fiance had the special Taco Soup and we both enjoyed the a lot! The ceviche took me back to our vacation to Puerto Rico and was as fresh as any I had on the island. My only wish was for more spice, it wasn't hot enough in my opinion. Otherwise the flavors were great and the freshness was awesome. My fiance loved the taco soup. She relished the flavors and wanted more and more. Then she ended our meal with their frozen cookie dough and loved it! We'll definitely eat here again! read more

Natalie is amazing! Not only did she tailor a five-day meal plan to fit the needs of our 25-person film crew, and our rather disparate dietary needs, she made it happen within our budget. Each delicious meal had gluten-free, dairy-free, vegan, vegetarian, and even Paleo options. All while staying within our budget(!). Over and over again, the crew commented how this was the best food experience they had ever had on a film set, or even with a personal chef. Natalie was incredibly friendly, knowledgable, and accommodating to our bizarre schedule and needs. She prepared three hot meals a day, with snacks and desserts that everyone could enjoy. Always up before we began the day and the last one to go to sleep. Her presentation was impeccable and she left the kitchen spotless. I was shocked how many fresh vegetables I ate over the course of the shoot--- her recipes were incredible, and healthy. What could be better than that? Her lemon herbed chicken was definitely one of my favorite meals, the kind of dish that is perfect wedding or party food. This meal was better than what was served at my wedding. The BBQ pulled pork dinner, or pot roast, mashed potatoes, and vegetable medley kept our crew coming back for seconds. I can't speak highly enough of the quality of the food. She sourced most of the vegetables from local farmers and only served high quality meats and eggs. Fresh focaccia bread warmed us from within. Her popcorn bar, with four kinds of sweet and savory toppings, boosted morale on the last day. Whether cooking for an individual, a group, a wedding, or a film crew, Natalie's repertoire is hands down, freaking amazing. We will definitely be using her again in the future. We highly recommend her for any of your personal chef/catering/cooking/crafty needs! Just ask about her peach preserves. One taste says this is the best decision you've ever made. We had the absolute BEST experience using Sheild catering for our wedding. Natalie the chef was beyond accommodating of our vegan diet. She helped us come up with a custom menu to fit our dietary needs and even all of the non vegan members found everything delicious. Dan the catering manager was so helpful for coordinating time and place for the food delivery and was just an overall pleasure to work with. We knew all the details would be taken care of, and the less worrying on the day of your wedding the better. Finally our banquet server Amelia was so sweet and set up everything perfectly and helped out so much with making sure clean up was prompt and that everything ran smoothly. Sheild catered our wedding at Silvan Ridge Winery in August 2022. Dan was amazing to work with. He was very responsive to our emails and was very flexible to factor in our wishes for our guests. We had a last-minute guest inquiry regarding food allergies and Dan and his team were quick to make a special meal to cater to our guest's needs. On the day of, our food was amazing and everything we asked for! Our guests were raving about how great the food was, and we could not agree more. The crew assigned to our wedding was great, they were very helpful and the service during our cocktail hour and buffet dinner was outstanding! The only issue we ran into was the handling of leftovers and saving food at the end of the night. We reached out to Dan separately to discuss this, and he was very responsive and answered our questions. Overall, Sheild and Dan were a pleasure to work with and were a very special part of our big day! read more

Shield Catering was amazing! I originally ordered from them to cater my niece's birthday party, but the party was cancelled due to the fires. I was able to reschedule my order for Halloween. The food was delicious, and the staff was so friendly and helpful. My sister has celiac disease, so finding a caterer who makes fantastic gluten free dishes was wonderful! I am reviewing the cafe, not the catering service. Had their tri tip sandwich today. One of my favorite sandwiches, so was looking forward to it, especially with horseradish sauce and sweet peppers. Unfortunately the sandwich had little flavor. The tri tip was well done and sliced thickly which only accentuated its toughness. There was a sauce on the sandwich, but no hint of horseradish. The ciabatta style bread would have been better served with a light sour dough roll. All in all, a disappointment . read more

Natalie and her staff catered our wedding events both the rehearsal dinner and the day of our celebration. They did a great job and getting to and setting up in a rural area without a lot of support. I am reviewing the cafe rather than the catering service because I haven't tried the catering service. I was very disappointed in the quality of the food during my lunch visit today. The baguette (which is the only option for a sandwich) was tough and stale. I discarded most of the baguette because it was essentially inedible. The pickle served with the sandwich was mushy. Worst of all, I found a piece of plastic wrap in the sandwich. Fortunately, I spotted it before it made it's way into my mouth. I will not be returning. read more

We were able to order exactly how much we wanted of each dish, and there was excellent communication from the manager on our order. Best of all, the food was fantastic! I couldn't be more pleased with the service and quality of the food. They had no problem delivering out to us 50 miles away and didn't charge an arm and a leg for it. They arrived right when they said they would and had the entire table set up at exactly 4:00 as planned. The delivery was friendly and she explained everything very well. We loved celebrating our daughter's first birthday with Shield's Catering. They were responsive during our planning sessions, open and creative during menu planning, prompt and warm during set up/the event/tear down, and most importantly, the drinks and the food was gorgeous and super tasty. Sheild catered my wedding for about 50 folks in our backyard in Eugene. Six courses: appetizers, main course, salad, cheese, dessert, chocolate. All very well done, we were very happy. Main course was cornish hens with a ginger/thyme/wine sauce and carrot medley. The cheese course [which we served with a local pinot noir] was very popular. Courteous servers and attentive. The crew came by a few days before and we worked everything out, which they pulled off without a hitch. The one, small issue was that they had told me originally they could pour wine but it turns out they cant. But we easily found someone else to do that, so no biggie. Not the cheapest bid I got for the meal, but it was certainly worth it. read more

Wonderful, caring, and creative company! They catered our wedding and everyone was thrilled with the delicious, organic food. I highly recommend them! We were incredibly disappointed with our experience with Sheild, especially given the positive reviews online. Early on, there were warning signs with poor communication and minimal follow-up - however they were undergoing a change in their manager and we decided to stick with them - WE ABSOLUTELY REGRETTED IT. Three days before our wedding, they still had not come to the farm to survey the site - something they had said they would do several weeks before - and as the bride, I was having to contact them and follow up. On the day of the wedding, my mother-in-law was having to deal with their mistakes right up until the ceremony started. Amongst the several errors they made, one of them included not bringing the coffee pre-made as was previously discussed - which consequently resulted in the catering staff blowing the power for our ceremony and disrupting ceremony music. Instead of providing an enjoyable, delicious experience - they added stress and frustration to our big day. The diverse, artisan bread from a local bakery we had paid for and requested was not brought - instead cheap, boring rolls were served. My father in law had to request the staff restock the buffet trays when they were low. Coffee cups were not brought. The rice was undercooked. They didn't even offer busing services. The list goes on. And afterward - no refund was offered for the mistakes made - hardly an apology when we called - several times - to follow up and discuss the mistakes made. The lack of professionalism was shocking to me, especially as someone who worked in catering for five years. I would NEVER go with this company again and strongly advise against it for your big day. read more
