HEAVENLY! We ordered a few pastries and a couple of breakfast sandwiches. The breakfast sandwiches…read morewere yummy but the real stars were the pastries. The cinnamon roll was SO delicious. Staff was very friendly and the space had ample seating.

We got a chocolate croissant (only decent thing I got, but don't compare it to an artisanal made croissant where it's a dark golden brown with flaky crispy buttery layers). Their "croissants" are more like anemic, soft, moist bread. Also, got a cheese Danish. Starbucks sells a better cheese Danish than this place. The Danish was dry and hard and the center filling looked like it was pre-made frozen and just placed on top of the Danish. Finally, the worst of the worst, I got a personal size dutch apple crumble pie. Now THIS looked like it was made from scratch and I had hopes for this one. However, I took a piece of the crumble topping and ate it. It had an unusual funny taste. Almost like it was made with lavender. Didn't taste quite right. Then, when I got back to my hotel, I really dug into it. It wasn't just the crumble that was off, but the entire pie tasted of rancid spoiled butter. I had to spit it out, it was horrible. I can't believe they would serve that. I don't know how old that thing was, but they need better quality control. The only people I could see giving this place 5 stars on the food, are locals. Tahoe is behind when it comes to quality high end artisanal pastries. I have yet to find a decent coffee shop. Their sign boasts "Voted Best in Tahoe", but you'll see that almost every spot here has the same sign, from ice cream shops to bakeries to whatever else because there's literally nothing here. If you're from a big city, don't come here. Service was pleasant. No complaints.

What a lovely find! I had never been to Genoa and it had been years since my husband visited so we…read moredecided to take a drive there when we were in the area. The town is absolutely charming but what caught my attention was Sierra Chef. We made our way to the door and I was immediately in heaven as we entered the building. The store was filled with amazing Italian food items including pastas, sauces, and cheeses. There were chef prepared dinners for you to order to take home. Italian pastries and gelato tempted us. I gave in and ordered a pistachio gelato which was divine. My husband ordered a cookie and espresso which he said was perfectly prepared. I wish we would have had more time at Sierra Chef because we would have ordered more food items to try. The next time we are in the area, we will be making a stop to pick up some tasty treats!

Sierra Chef - Made In Nevada [Genoa NV]…read more I followed the garlicky smell of the savory prosciutto flatbread and our noses led us here at this Italian bakery called Sierra Chef. The minute we walked inside the smell of baked pastries, cookies, and sweet & savory treats permeated the store. Ahhhh... Sierra Chef also offers cooking classes for adults and children in their commercial kitchen. Saw a few ladies behind the counter taking the class and having fun at the same time while I perused through the items offered... some fun handcrafted kitchen items laid out on the back table. We were just looking for dessert since we already had brunch across the street at the Flutter & Buzz Cafe. I asked for gelato and chose dark chocolate flavor. Waited while the employee went towards the back to scoop our ice creams. I had no idea how huge the servings were when she handed the cups to me. I should've just asked for one cup to share. It was delicious though. We sat and enjoyed them outside at their outdoor patio. The weather was beautiful and perfect for gelato. Mangia Bene! Review #3734
