Firstly, im typing this on a Kiiboom Phantom Lite 81 with Rose Quartz keycaps and Keygeek Keylin Linear switches that I bought from the Tiny Keyboard shop! This place is awesome. How lucky am I to live so close to a keyboard shop?! When I was first exploring getting a mechanical keyboard, I was watching so many Youtube and instagram videos trying to figure out what type I wanted and what sound. It was awesome to be able to visit Tiny Keyboard Shop and actually test out different layouts, switches, keycaps, and more! The first time I went, I fell in love with the Evo80 in Butter Yellow with oat switches, but it wasn't in stock. I put my info on a sticky note and the guy was really nice and saved my info and texted me when the keyboard came back in stock. It was pricey, but well worth it, and now I keep the Evo80 at work to use. There are a selection of keycaps at the store that are made by small business owners but they're pretty pricey, ranging from 80-90 bucks per set. Theres also lots of switches to choose from and a keyboard that has many different switches on it so you can test the sound and then go buy a bag of switches. Typically the staff there is really awesome and they taught me how to gently remove my switches to ensure longevity - and, if I ever had an issue, they said I could come back and they'd help out. Only reason we're not at a 5 star review is just because it depends on which worker you get - one guy was just KIND of helpful - still nice and chill but didnt get up from his seat, whereas the other time I went, the guy followed me from keyboard to keyboard explaining the different pros and cons between each one. Tiny Keyboard Shop hosted a keyboard-building workshop at the company where I work, and it was a massive success. They were a pleasure to work with in the weeks leading up to the event, taking care of ensuring our large team of 25 was able to select their desired layouts, cases, keyswitches, and keycaps. Tiny Keyboard Shop was even able to handle creating a custom keycap with my team's logo! They were very professional and organized during the event itself; with 3 representatives from Tiny Keyboard Shop in attendance, there was ample support for answering ad-hoc questions and working 1-on-1 with anyone who needed it. The boards (Neo60 and Neo65) were excellent quality, and the entire event was offered at a reasonable price fitting in my team's budget. My team says it was the best team activity they've participated in in a very long time, with the added bonus that the "swag" that resulted (these awesome keyboards) are used by my teammates everyday. I would definitely work with Tiny Keyboard Shop again and highly recommend trusting them with your own team's onsite/offsite team-building activity. read more

Incredibly nice staff, helped me a lot and gave me good switch suggestions. They have a lot of switch options and the switch tester they got is really nice and helped me find switches! The switches they have are amazing value and usually beat online prices! ($33 for HMX firecrackers) I have built a keyboard from them and got my HMX switches and loved a lot of it. My onlycomplaint is that they have an extensive keycap selection although they are quite expensive and may be overwhelming for someone trying to buy or build their first keyboard, I would wish for my budget oriented Keycaps for 60-70 dollars. Cool shop but parking is very bad. Very very bad parking, enough to make you want to give up going to the shop. One time we got locked up in the parking garage nearby too. Also the last time I was able to actually park and come in here, they had some small business towards the front of the shop that were selling artisan stuff but it's easy to mistake them as working for the store. They become dismissive and unhappy when you ask them questions. Kinda off putting overall a cool shop with a decent amount of stuff if you can get in. read more

This place is like mecca for keyboard enthusiasts - a place for someone new to the hobby to see what they might like, get answers, or ideas, or someone who's been in it for a while to try new switches or pick up some keycaps. Since this can be an expensive hobby, I like that there are a variety of price tiers of boards to select from, since it makes it a bit more accessible to everyone. It sounds like a couple people have had sour experiences with staff, but I thought everyone was great. Nobody was walking around interrupting shoppers' experiences or actively asking if anyone needed help, but they were readily available if someone had a question. I prefer that, since most of my shopping is wanting to type on new switches while it's quiet around me. Prices are super reasonable, and the selection is great. Came on a weekend to visit the keycap sets as I'd heard that this place was a good source of high grade caps. When I came, it was quite busy but there were a good amount of helpful staff available. There are a lot of keyboards to try! Good novelty for sure pressing them all. I was more interested in caps and a staff member was able to point me to their ABS cap sets. Their prices are pretty mindblowing- similar to drop prices (I'm guessing the owner gets them cheaper) which is practically a steal. Walked out with a really nice GMMK set! Right at the public garage in downtown San Jose, so easy to find parking. The shop is super small, but I love how they have all the keyboards out there for you to test out. They also have post its so you know how the board was made and what was used. We were immediately acknowledged when we walked in, but they didn't bother you with questions and what not. They allowed us to look at the keyboards and test out what we wanted. They did answer my questions. I love this place. It was very hard to leave. Tiny Keyboard Shop is a unique find! I like how they have lots of keyboards on display to test out as I knew nothing about keyboards previously. I was able to learn about the bases they offer, different types of switches (they have testers!), and see the super cute key caps. I was able to learn what I might want for my first keyboard from Spencer who was super helpful and friendly! They also sell accessories such as desk mats and materials needed to build your keyboard! They also have a big presence on social media (IG and discord) and do events to really build the community! They also announce new and special products on there which made me feel nice about securing a limited & exclusive keyboard through the shop! Parking is available in the same structure. read more

I am a writer and have been using what I thought was the best option, but this store's talented and friendly folks set me on the better path. Ended up purchasing: Zoom75 w/ Mirror Silver ($240) DK Blueberry Swirl Switches (90) ($44) They are always restocking and updating their stock from switches, keycaps, etc so keep that in mind! The keyboard shop is nice with so many displays of what is available. They also have a display and testing computer so you can try out some of the different keycaps! They have all the different items needed to put together a keyboard like lube for the different switches of film for them and more. So you can put together your own keyboard or just buy a premade themed one. The owner was super helpful and knowledgeable! I showed him the Amazon link for my keyboard and he was able to reassure me that it was swappable so I could purchase different keycaps that would still fit. As a keyboard enthusiast who joined the hobby during the pandemic, I was SO HAPPY to learn tiny was local and had a shop carrying the physical goods from a lot of big name vendors like CannonKeys, KineticLabs, NovelKeys, to name the ones I saw the most at the store. Especially for CannonKeys, which I know is based on the east coast, I imagine buying from the store saves you a few bucks in shipping and you get it right then and there. They also sell some modding tools like lube, stabies, switch openers, along with kits, keycaps, switches, and deskmats. Tiny also offers keyboard services too - see picture of pricing as of November 5, 2022. If you need help de/soldering, L&F, or putting together a build, tiny's got you! They even had a Mode80 that I typed on for a short bit, and it felt like test-driving a Porche cause I'm not looking at ultra-premium boards yet haha. The shop is across the street from San Pedro square food hall, so the closest parking is paid meters with a 2-hour limit. Not sure if there's free parking anywhere nearby, but you can try your luck! read more

I drove down from SF to visit this unique shop. The guy behind the counter was friendly and helpful. They had the Rainy 75 keyboard on the table and it was great to be able to try it out in person after seeing so many youtube videos about it. Good luck finding that one in any other shop! They had about ten other keyboards out that you can tap on. However, they didn't seem to have any keyboards with mac layouts. Sure, the one's available probably work on macs, but it would be nice to see some mac layouts. It would be great if they had all the mainstream brands available to try too like Keychron, Lofree, and Logitech etc. They could have every type including low profile keyboards, that way they would be a one-stop-shop for keyboards. If they did this, I bet most people that walked in would be able to find something that works for them. As it is, it's a very niche store. I still give it five stars for what it is, but it could be even better. read more

I purchased my Yunzii AL66 Black Barebones kit from here and the customer service from the workers were top notch! I asked for recommendations on what switches to purchase for a thockier sound and they recommended the milk tea switches. I couldn't be more happier. On top of that after numerous Reddit/online research for a replacement knob, I finally reached out to Yunzii's customer support online to see if they had any black knobs available. Although they did not have the exact same one, they had an item compatible. Yunzii's online customer service response was quick and very helpful. A+ for service! Okay, Tiny Keyboard Shop is legit! Although tiny (ha!), the shop packs tons of inventory, keyboard supplies, and model boards in the space. They have keyboards, switches, keycaps, cables, lube, pullers - everything you need to build your first board. They also have a switch/keyboard testing area where you can test various switches and boards to see if you like linears or tactiles, and what sound profile you prefer. The shop owner, Tiny, and her staff are always so helpful! The first time I went to TKS, I wanted to build an intro board so they recommended the bakaneko60 as the base, and answered all my questions (and I had a ton!) The prices are super fair, and I ended up snagging some NovelKey creams and the Cannonkeys Hydrangea keycaps. The build turned out super gorgeous and I was hooked into the hobby! TKS also hosts a lot of community events - you can tell how passionate they are about the keyboard community! Tiny recently hosted a gingerboard contest with amazing prizes, and is about to host a keyboard swap meet next weekend (1/29). I actually ended up winning a Devastating TKL with korbs switches and Spencer even soldered them on for me! I went back to the store to grab a pair of Osume dusk keycaps, and they paired perfectly! Tiny Keyboard Shop is a tiny(haha), cute keyboard shop in San Pedro Square. Parking is fairly easy as there is a parking lot right next to it. Very rare to find a keyboard shop. On a Sunday afternoon, it was busy but not too packed. The store had lots of good to purchase: from the standard items such as boards, switches, keycaps to other things such as lube brushes, desk mats, cables, and keycap pullers. There's lots of keyboards displayed to help many customers with ideas on with how to build their dream keyboard build. The display keyboards are encouraged to be tested, especially since the way to find the switch that works best for you are found through trial and error. There's a computer where customers can try it out on a speed test website. Each display keyboard has the case, keycaps, and the switches on a clear small index card description. They also do custom manual services such as building, lubing, filming, etc. Lastly even though I told the owner I was mainly looking, and not to purhcase anything that day, she was still really helpful/friendly, especially with all the questions I had to ask. Overall, 10/10. Was friendly experience, aesthetic/cute store, convenient area, and a go-to if one would like to build a keyboard but wants to dip their toes before full sending. read more

As an individual who knows absolutely nothing about building my own keyboard, I have been considering possibly building my own for a while, since I have had my old gaming keyboard for about 4 years now and want an upgrade. I have been to many craft fairs and markets in San Jose, and always wanted to participate in the create your own keycap workshop by Tinymakesthings but never got an opportunity yet, and have also been wanting to go to the Tiny Keyboard shop in San Jose. While I live over an hour away, I decided to make the journey a few days before Christmas, to possibly learn more about building a keyboard and check out the tiny garage sale. I was very excited as I often find small businesses to have very friendly customer service, and be helpful so while I felt a bit nervous going in knowing nothing, I figured it would be ok and that the employees would be able to help me out. I went in the store and first browsed around, trying out different keyboards. I saw one I really liked, which was the QK 100, with kat bliss keycaps, etc. I saw the build specs but was a bit confused on if the store sells all these parts, the cost, etc. I went over to the counter and there was a female employee, and also a male sitting next to her (although I am not sure if he was an employee or not). I asked her if the store sells all the parts on the build specs, and how it works. Truthfully, she was not very friendly at all, and actually made me feel a bit dumb for not knowing the answer to the questions I asked. She said that the keyboard comes in a kit, and then you can build it yourself by watching youtube or we can build it for you with a builders fee. I then asked how much it would cost for the kit for the one I saw on display, and she said it depends but that one might cost over $400 plus the builders fee (but didn't say how much it was for the builders fee). Even from just a few questions, she gave me attitude and sort of just brushed me aside. Honestly after that I did feel unwelcome. I still had a quick look around after, but was a bit surprised with the interaction I had. The shop had an Evo80 in stock and on display to try out. While I would have loved to purchase this at the shop and support a small business, I honestly didn't feel comfortable after the interaction, so I drove home empty handed and ended up purchasing the Evo80 online a few days later. Unless you know what you want, and don't need to ask any questions, I wouldn't recommend this shop as a newbie to the hobby. Of course this doesn't apply to all employees as I only visited once, and I do not like writing negative reviews about small businesses but I wanted to share my experience with others. read more
