Tiny Jewel Box in downtown DC provides excellent customer service and turnaround time especially for Rolex service / repair related matters and ring repairs. I had a wedding ring and an engagement ring in need of repairs and they have provided me with detailed itemized quotes readily submittable to the insurance company. This was particularly helpful as I did not need to go back and forth just to get the form part sorted to have the items repaired. Unlike many of the other area stores that is considered authorized retailer for Rolex, Tiny Jewel Box actually has an onsite Rolex technician who can assist you on the spot. This is nice as the last time I took my watch elsewhere, they had to mail it off to the Houston factory and it took several months for it to return. Consequently, I was very pleasantly surprised when I went in to the store expecting to do the same mail out and wait for months ordeal. My watch was inspected on the spot with minimal wait time and it turned out I can just have my jubilee bracelet adjusted on the spot. This was helpful as I didn't want the crystal to keep banging against hard surfaces because it was too big around my wrist. It was really gracious of them that I did not need to make a separate appointment just so I can have the jewelry and watch service related matters addressed. There are many other retailers who has no appointments available for me to get items serviced or receive a mere quote for service. (Looking at you, Tiffany's and other jewelers) That part alone is huge, since it saves me so much time, and at no point did I feel unwelcome. Parking is available around the store on a street level and some paid / free. It's best to swing by during the weekdays to avoid road closures and otherwise. In the last few days I've tried twice to buy a watch but they were either too busy or did not have enough staff. Maybe watches are just that popular right now. I was told it would be a 20-30 minute wait. I love their inventory and I bought an expensive watch there last year. But it might be better to go to Tysons for the watch I want (fortunately not a Grand Seiko which I would have to buy at TJB). I worked with Alicia to design a ring. I have to admit, it's a little scary to do. I had read reviews from other local jewelry stores and there were people left spending $1000s of dollars on rings they didn't like. That's FAR from the experience I had here. Alicia did a great job making sure I felt comfortable and was direct and transparent throughout the process. My boyfriend and I had gone ring shopping passively a year prior and I found a ring that I loved and saw in their store. A round center stone with two rows of diamonds on the band and baguettes in the middle. When we went back to look at it again, I noticed the band/stones were smaller than what I remembered and saw in the picture I had taken. Beyond that, I really wanted the center stone to pop. You see this in three stone rings or a ring with half moon diamonds surrounding the stone. I was so taken by the band on the previous ring that I fell in love with, that I decided I wanted to design a combination. Alicia exceeded expectations with every detail she added to the ring. The baguettes, which I loved in the previous ring were accentuated and the half moons did just as I wanted. On top of that, she added this beautiful scroll design to the side along with what looks like a heart surrounding the diamond. I AM IN LOVE! The service has been impeccable too. The ring was spinning on my finger. There's a balance between allowing it to comfortably come off and prevent the spinning. Alicia's team added slopes in the center which did the trick. My fiancé and I chose TJB for our wedding bands and engagement ring, working with Travis to choose an engagement ring and eternity band (for me) from their in-house Roslyn Collection and simple platinum wedding band with milgrain trim for my fiancé. We had about 3 or 4 visits with Travis to choose the engagement ring and pick the right carat size and exact diamond, then he ordered the diamond for us and we came in to look at it in-person before purchasing. We got engaged just 10 weeks before our microwedding (18 guests) so we needed a fast turnaround on production of the rings, and Travis and Jeri and the TJB team worked to make sure we had the engagement ring as quickly as possible and then the wedding bands on time. We have bought some other jewelry (diamond earrings, a Cartier watch) from TJB before, and after yet another wonderful experience, we will continue to make TJB our jewelry store of choice! Consistently first-rate yet down-to-earth service over seven years as a customer. Travis patiently helped my wife and me (gradually...) settle on her dream floral-patterned engagement ring and wedding band. TJB mounted our own diamond for us. (Earlier, they sold me a lovely silver bracelet. I used that bracelet to propose during a vacation, so that we could choose the ideal rings that my wife would love.) This shop is also a certified Rolex Service Center, and their watch experts rejuvenated my '93 DateJust inside and out, so it sparkled and ran better than the day I got it. The maintenance was done on schedule, for at or below the estimated price. Finally, today the Tiny Jewel Box impressed me by cleaning a pair of my wife's earrings and an heirloom necklace free of charge -- they wouldn't even let me try to pay. Extremely low staff turnover -- a good sign that these experts like helping people find the right jewelry, and value relationships. While, I am not a person who fits the bill of Tiny Jewel Box's "typical customer", I have been to this store a few times. Mostly to get batteries replaced for my timepieces. In all of my visits I have been happy with their customer service and quality of work. The timepiece strap change or new battery installation has also included a tune-up on the watch. My timepieces have come back looking cleaner, and "younger" :) The service is good here (if you are okay with a little sense of elitist attitude that comes with a place like this). A true treasure in DC! I've been a customer at TJB since 2014 when I brought my vintage Rolex to be serviced. As I was a hill staffer on a modest budget for some years, I always hoped I would return one day to buy a modern Rolex, and although it took some time, I returned to the TJB in 2021 to really start my collection. Instantly, Brian Ehteshami put me at ease and LISTENED to what I was saying, and helped guide me through the process of building a collection. My sherpa if you will. I'm not your typical millennial as I've idolized the style of vintage Hollywood, and prefer elegance, over anything flashy. I have been a customer of the Tiny Jewel Box for years, and they are a truly great store -- one that has everything you need for gifts to an amazing watch collection for some of the most desired boutiques. Over the years, they have help me find special occasion gifts well thought out in advance and last-minute special gifts when time has gotten in the way and I've needed something instantly (thanks Sholeh F!). They've also helped me find watches -- one for my wife several years ago and more recently pieces for me (thanks Pouriya S!). All the while they've been thoughtful, attentive, and helped direct me to the right choices--including being realistic on how long things may take to obtain. As for the store itself, it's beautiful and in a great centrally located DC location, which has expanded over the years (as other stores have contracted). One of the best things about the store is that they have a broad range of gifts. You need the super important and expensive anniversary/birthday present, they have it. You want something a bit more modest for some other occasion--they'll help you just as much. Even when I hadn't visited them for several years, they still were just as helpful as the last time. During the pandemic, they have been supportive with video sales and they've followed strong safety protocols for in person visits. Horrible customer service. I came here before I was engaged to try on rings. My soon to be (now current) fiancé was pooped and I went on my own to try new styles and take pictures. Together, we had been to Brilliant Earth, Bensons and Charles Schwartz, but he was tired and suggested that I check out a few places on my own. Earlier that day I'd gone by myself to Mervis and had an awesome experience. I thought I would head over to Tiny Jewel Box because they are known for beautiful antique pieces and I'd admired them online. I walked in, dressed down on a Saturday in jeans and a wind breaker. When a sales person finally appeared I gave them my spiel and told them my budget (8k). In response she stated that "IF" that was my real budget I would be able to look at a variety of rings. At this point I'd like to point out that I am young and black and that the sales person was not. And maybe race had nothing to do with it and it was just the fact that I was not dressed to the nines. However, I immediately felt uncomfortable and sad in a moment that should have been joyous. Looking for an engagement ring should be a pleasant experience. Nonetheless, I brushed it off and asked to see a few designs that piqued my interest. She was very hesitant, slow, and disinterested and it felt like she'd decided I didn't need to see the rings because I couldn't afford them. I left feeling dejected and really quite surprised that a business in a city as diverse as DC would assume that you can look at customers and size up their wallets based on your perception of their appearance. But the gag is, both me and my fiancé are lawyers. We ended up increasing our ring budget significantly and I walked out of that store determined to never give a cent to them for any occasion. I would recommend diversity training. Honestly, people from all over the world come to this city, work hard, and become successful. You cannot look at someone and know how much money have. Please if you're a young person, a person of color, or not dressed in your Sunday best-- save yourself the trouble and go anywhere else. Their selection is nice, but you can find comparable engagement rings at the same price point at other stores in the surrounding area or online.
