I had a distinct pleasure of working with Sam and Rebecca at Tint and Sound in Frederick Maryland. I had heard about their business from more than one other car/truck businesses that I have encountered. Sam and Rebecca have a very nice chemistry when working with their customers, and I am one happy customer of theirs. I am a very picky person and I like things done neatly and explained to me well, prior to any modification I make on my vehicle, which was a 2024 two-door Ford bronco Heritage. I was looking for side mirror cameras, as well as a front end camera to make driving. Just a little bit more safe as I'm a 67 year-old fella. Their work was impeccable. I went to Tint and Sound to install an aftermarket electronic blindspot monitoring system. I spoke to Sam about it, and he told me that they installed the system from Rydeen. He gave me the option of installing the system on the license plate or in the bumper. Since he assured me that both work the same way, we opted to go for the license plate one. The system started to malfunction within the first week of installation. I went on a road trip, and the system malfunctioned during rain and snow. The system would tell me that someone was passing me on my left when a car was actually passing me on my right. I told Sam about it and he didn't believe me. He asked me if I had proof. I told him I'm not going to take a video to show you the system is malfunctioning when it is raining or snowing due to safety reasons. Sam told me that he has been installing these systems for a long time and no one has had any problems. I called Rydeen Customer Service, and I told them about the issue. They told me that it is possible to get the wrong readings in rain and snow since the sensors are outside the car.  However, the system that is installed in the bumper of the car will not have that problem.  Since the system came with a one-year warranty and Tint and Sound provided a lifetime warranty on the labor, I asked Sam if he could install the bumper system. I told him you told me both systems work the same, but Rydeen says otherwise. Sam was reluctant to fix the issue. He gave me the option of sending the system already in my car back to Rydeen to diagnose the issue and install the same one. I told Sam that I was fine with that, but I would want the system installed in the bumper if the issue persists. Sam refused! Sam told me that I could not expect an aftermarket system to operate similarly to a factory- installed system. He also told me that I should not rely on these systems for safe driving. I told him that while I agreed with him about not relying on the system completely to check for blind spots, I'm not paying $1,200 for a system that malfunctions. If the system is not working as intended, I would like the bumper system installed. He gave me two options : get a refund for the labor or get a full refund, but he refused to install the bumper system. I opted for a full refund since Tint and Sound do not stand by the products they sell. When I went to get a refund, Rebecca at the front desk was nasty and did not refund the correct amount. I showed her my receipt, to which she said, "It is only a few dollars," rolled her eyes, and gave me my full refund. My whole experience with Tint and Sound was horrendous. Sam was easy to talk to and deal with, but he didn't give me the full picture and did not stand behind the products they sell. Rebecca was a nightmare to deal with. She doesn't know how to talk at all to customers! read more

I got a sound system installed in my 2024 Honda Accord a few months ago by Best Buy. I got Kicker speakers and they are supposed to be really good speakers. They made the sound crisper and louder as expected. Less than a week after install, the left rear deck speaker began to pop and sizzle randomly while I was driving. I took it back to Best Buy 3 times in the same day and the installer was unable to diagnose or fix the problem. Needless to say, I was annoyed and disappointed. I gave up and decided I would just have to deal with it. Unfortunately, about 3 weeks ago, that specific speaker went out. I had already decided that when I was ready, I would get new speakers and a sub installed with Tint and Sound. I asked them about my speaker problem and they strongly advised me to get it checked out before I just got everything replaced. Needless to say, they found the problem and fixed it in less than 30 minutes. Turns out, Best Buy installed the speakers in a way they shouldn't have and it caused the frequency limiter to get intercepted and subsequently cut out. I haven't been able to truly experience or enjoy my speakers without worrying about the popping and sizzling. Thanks to Tint and Sound, I'm able to enjoy the speakers I paid for! And I didn't have to pay an arm and a leg for them to diagnose and fix my problem! read more

I had them install an aftermarket unit to add apple car play to my Lexus. The work was done efficiently but after using it for a couple of weeks, it really didn't do what I wanted as it made using much of the cars electronics more difficult-- not their fault, I think intrinsic to an add-on not able to fully integrate. I brought it back and they went through all of the issues with me in detail, and agreed that it was not really what I wanted. They uninstalled it and gave me a full refund, more than fair, as some of the fault was mine for not realizing up front what losing access to my sat radio if I wanted to use car play would mean. Called this place to get my subwoofer installed after getting annoyed at best buy for waiting 2 months to get it installed and then they called 1 hour before and said they could do it. I arrived and the service was great. Had to wait a little because of another appointment before mine with some issues. But soon as my vehicle was back they completed it in an hour. I visited T&S to remove my old headlights that were installed poorly (Rockville sound shop that has absolutely gone downhill) and had even worse light output. I also had T&S install new fog lights (front and rear) as well as a back up camera. Sam clearly explained the price up front and ensured that we were both clear as to what will be performed on my car. Sam even helped with headlight bulb selection without unnecessarily pushing for the most expensive options for products/works like other shops typically do. Work was accomplished quickly and without cutting any corners. Sam and his team were friendly and were eager to make sure I was satisfied once the job was done. T&S did an excellent job on my 2015 Mercedes, I have to admit I am pretty picky. Without knowing much about tinting, I went ahead and got my car windows tinted from a shady place with a very poor quality film. I got a repair order from MD state police as the tint % was not within the legal limit. For the next few days, I was on the hunt for finding the best tint shop and the best film for tinting. Upon that research, I found 3M crystalline is one of the best films in the market for heat rejection. I also read that tinting is useless no matter what quality film is used, if the installer doesn't do it right. So my next step is to find the shop who can do it right. Not every tint shop carries this film. 3M films are sold only through very few certified dealers. There are only 2 shops in Frederick area that carries 3M films. Tint & Sound (T&S) is one of them. After talking to the first shop (Auto Trim and Design) regarding quotes and other basic info about the film, I didn't feel comfortable and confident doing my tinting there for some reason even tough it seemed like a big shop. But when I spoke to Sam from T&S, he was very friendly and answered all my questions patiently. On first impression, I felt they were honest. He took pride in saying he was in this business for about 20 years. Their price is also competitive. On top of it, there is a $100 promotion for 3M crystalline films. So I felt really confident and have decided to get my 3M tinting done here. For now, I got my existing tint removed from T&S and fixed my repair order. I am happy with that service. I will be getting by 3M tint soon from T&S. I will update this review further after that. read more

I had them install an amplifier on my Jeep and they did that. However I had no base or midrange. When I went back and asked the tech said he had to turn it down because the speakers would cut out. I took the amplifier out and adjusted the frequency and gain and now I have base and it doesn't cut out. No effort to tune the amplifier probably wouldn't use them again or refer them. The owner replied back and said the stock speakers couldn't handle it, however two things. 1. I told them I upgraded all of the speakers. 2. When I asked them about speakers they said they couldn't recommend anything and suggested a woofer. I talked to another installer and suggested they didn't try to do any tuning. read more

Overpriced for poor service. I had my windows tinted here a few years back, got the executive package which comes with a lifetime warranty against defects. Tint held up great, no complaints there, cost $250. Moved out of state, and back into the state recently, so my vehicle had to pass inspection which required a window tint test. Long story short I had to get the tint removed, not surprised, no big deal. Called T&S to have them remove the tint, they quoted me $100, which I thought was high, so I asked them if it was something i could do myself and they explained it required steam and adhesive remover, so I went with it. I show up to drop off my car, maybe 30 minutes after I talked to them to get the quote and THEY WEREN"T EVEN THERE! They left a sign on the door saying they went to get breakfast. The guy from the tire store showed up at the same time, we were both amazed. So I leave the car, they remove the tint. I come back to pick up the car and the windows are all frozen over, I assume its just frozen condensation from the steam. Go inside to pay and they charge me the original $100 PLUS $15 EXTRA for adhesive removal, the adhesive removal that they mentioned when I got the $100 quote. I payed it. So get in the car and leave and half way home I realize that the windows are in fact frozen from condensation, but mixed in with the frost is adhesive and/or adhesive remover that THEY DID A SHIT JOB OF REMOVING! Long story short, I paid these people $115 to peel the tint off of my window, and supposedly remove the adhesive while at it, and I still have f**king adhesive all over my windows. DO NOT USE THESE A**HOLES. read more
