We stopped in to give this place a try. First things first. I wasn't blown away by the friendliness of the girl at the register. She seemed irritated at times through out our order. Mainly because it was our first time in as we didn't really know how to order here. Did not care for that. I got the Tinga Tacos. They seem to have a good lunch special. 2 tacos a side and drink for 10 bucks. Not to shabby. I enjoyed my tacos and the queso is pretty good as well. All said I would give it another try. I have not even tasted my food tonight because I am so unhappy. My family chose Tinga Tacos for our "Celebrate our Hispanic Heritage" dinner this evening. We should have went somewhere else. The guys in the back really did not seem to want to be there tonight. They messed up part of our order, so it was a 40 minute round trip to handle that. Since my family likes to eat together, I asked for 4 corn tortillas to replace the tortillas that were breaking down. Apparently, that was a problem. Think twice before trying this place. Tinga is a great spot for lunch! We came in with a larger group, and they had our food out in a very swift manner! I got the lunch special, which was two tacos, a side and a drink. The tacos were good. They were pretty slim on the toppings/filling, but the flavors were good and they weren't messy. My favorite thing on my plate was the guacamole--talk about flavorful, textured, and all around delicious! If I had known it was that good, it might've been my meal, compliments to whoever was slingin guac that day! While I didn't get one, I absolutely love that they have a cheese curd taco on their menu! I did the BYO with steak (which is shredded), jalapeño corn, cilantro, cheese, and taco sauce. Ummmm. Please may I have 10 more of these? They were perfect. The balance of filling to taco shell was perfect. The taste was on the spot. They were delicious. I also ordered chips and queso. The chips are super crunchy so if you have sensitive teeth you might want to bypass, or grow stronger ones, because the chips are awesome. The seasoning is . The queso is a bit thicker with chunks and I highly recommend. So, why only 4 stars, you might ask? Well.... it was just a tad on the pricey side. The phone did not eat first for this post ladies and gentlemen. Food was done quick, and customer service was exceptional. Although I think the $ on the business page on yelp should be changed to a $$ or maybe even a $$$ because 4 tacos cost me $18. Granted that two tacos were tri tip steak but the other two were just plain beef soft tacos. This was our first time at Tinga Tacos, and it was extremely disappointing. We ordered a variety of tacos so that we could really get a taste of everything - chicken, steak, pork, and tofu. The tacos were very small with not much meat inside. That aside, none of them had a flavor that kept us satisfied and wanting more. Even the corn tortillas had a dull taste. We did enjoy the crispy chips and their seasoning. However, the side of guacamole was not fresh and almost tasted like it was store bought, definitely not worth $5! Tinga Tacos occupies a much-needed space in the downtown Springfield scene by offering a dash of gourmet enthusiasm to the cadre of late-night dining options. When the drunk munchies strike and you want something healthier than Sliders, this is a worthy alternative that's certainly better for you - and arguably better tasting. I sampled three different tacos on my visit, each with its own charms and drawbacks. First up was The Crusher, a basic beef and lettuce taco that was on sale for an absurdly cheap price. Then, there was the Steak Jam, which was delicious in spite of, rather than because of, the titular fig jam that was included. And, at last, the pièce de résistance, the Udder Delight, which was as close to taco Nirvana as this menu could get me. My memory's a little foggy thanks to events earlier in the evening, but I'm fairly certain my bill for all three slices of tortilla-wrapped goodness was under $15 and probably closer to $12 - which is a pretty good value compared to some of the other higher end taco restaurants that have been popping up around the country recently. That said, Tinga Tacos suffers from the same affliction that has burdened every other restaurant at this end of McDaniel: there is almost no seating. So, depending on the time of night (or day), be ready to wait or get your food to go. But, beyond that, there's a lot to love at this downtown paean to internet food memes. read more

Only downside to places like this is you are paying almost $5 for a single taco. Obviously out or eat food is always more expensive, but considering you can make these at home extremely easy (and i do), for about 75 cents a taco or less, its one of those things people tight on money might stay away form. Tinga tacos is a wonderful place! It's a quaint place with some of the best tacos and margaritas on tap! The owner and her daughter are some of nicest people and they make you feel at home. I tried the crusher. I got one with chicken and one with beef. Both tacos were delicious. The margarita was so good and strong. Also they have a deal where you get three tacos and get a side for free. We also had their quest and chips. The chips are homemade and the yummy. The quest is soo good! After an event downtown, my lady friend and I decided to try this little place. Wow, I'm glad that we did! With our three tacos we got a free side, which saved us $4.50, which is a win in my book. The girl running the register was pleasant and engaging, and the food came out quickly! The queso was tasty and the chips were seasoned up in a really yummy way!
