We finally tried this place a few weeks ago after I had this on my list for quite a while. I have to say that it was a very shocking disappointment. They have a Mexican food buffet that they put out. Online, I saw that they do a different buffet for breakfast, so I assumed the dinner buffet would be fresh food. We came for dinner and everything looked like it had been sitting there the entire day. Things were dry, crusty, and some were soggy. The yellow queso was terrible. There weren't a lot of options either. You had to ask what everything was because nothing had labels. It was pretty awful. They do ask you if you want flour or corn tortillas with your food so we were able to choose those. The tortillas were good. The guy who greeted us and seated us was very nice. Overall, I can pretty confidently say that we will not be back. They would need to completely overhaul what they're doing for that to even be a possibility. read more

We go here pretty often, they have great taco specials on Monday and Thursday. Their tamales are delicious, love the jalapeño ones! They do have some language barriers at times and have messed up orders. They stay busy on nights they run specials and it's recommended to go early. Sitting can get limited and they do try to correct errors if made. Service is always nice. read more

When we offered to pay for our drinks that were already provided the owner kindly said if we didn't see what we wanted on the buffet she was happy to fix for us. wow this place was very delicious! it is a step up from their other location which is a rather small taco stand. they have many tables and seating in here, both booths and chairs. very heavy solid wood furniture, finely finished. they have a bright blue atmosphere with many decorations, it is very spacious. the service was very good and accurate. our waitress was quite nice. we paid up at the front after the meal. but back to the food, it was amazing. i loved the pollo con queso (chicken with cheese), it was so flavorful and perfectly done. the mexican rice was very tasty as well. we ordered chips and salsa and it was definitely worth it, very good flavor and texture of salsa. the chips were thick, and also good. the tortillas that came with my meal were also very nice. would highly recommend, what a gem! read more

Tacos and pupusa night. Worked up an appetite after running some errands and was glad to had found this place. I just can't say no to tacos, they are my favorite. I was glad to see that they also have pupusas, which are also so delicious. It's a very clean facility, the staff is very friendly and you feel welcomed. Stopped in for taco Tuesday, it is a good deal with most tacos being a dollar. We had a large service and ordered 40+ tacos. The asada tacos were well cooked and seasoned, carnitas was also delicious. The chicken was a lil under seasoned, the lengua was good (although cut into cubes, which made for interesting eating). I had tried Purple Burrito several times before and was never very impressed because I felt like the meat wasn't flavorful enough (specifically the beef and pork on the tacos). I used to live in Mexico and ate street tacos all the time, so I have very high standards when it comes to tacos. The past couple of times I have gone there, though, it was delicious. Last night I ordered tamales - one of my favorite dishes - and loved them. Usually I don't like tamales at Mexican restaurants in Springfield, but these were great. Tonight I went back and had a fish taco - same story: one of my favorite foods in Mexico, but always when I eat them here in Springfield, I'm disappointed...but not this time. It was the best fish taco I've had in a very long time. I also had fried ice cream for dessert - glad I was planning to share it, because it was huge! Very good, though! I have also had the taquitos before and liked them pretty well. By the way, the location I went to last night and tonight was the one at Kearney and West Bypass. I checked in at at yelp and received a free churro. I ordered the California burrito and it was HUGE! The ingredients were fresh and I could tell this is high quality food. It was big enough for me to eat for two meals. It only cost me 7 bucks! My friend ordered the fajita and it cost under 10 bucks. Ambiance could be a little bit better and have a Mexican theme feel. Maybe play some music instead of having the TV blaring in the background. I just recall my experience at Oscar's in San Diego and how they played traditional Mexican music. Their namesake food item, the purple burrito, is such a ridiculously great deal at $8, that I don't see any reason to slum it at any random fast food restaurant when I can just pay $8 at Purple Burrito for an entire meal. Honestly, I'm not a big fan of these guys who go, "I know fill-in-the-blank ethnic food because I lived in timbuktu for 70 years durrrrrr..." I really couldn't care less, guy.
