I had a great lunch today at Tina's Cafe. The tomato soup was incredibly creamy and delicious. Paired with a grilled cheese (created with cheddar) was perfectly browned. The service was very good (with the owner coming out from the kitchen to verify my dining companions' orders). It is a very cozy place for lunch. The location is right on Main Street across the street from the Warner Theater. read more

Such a gem of a hometown café! The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the food is absolutely delicious. I tried the chicken cranberry walnut salad, and it was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. The stuffed pepper soup was extraordinary--comforting, hearty, and bursting with flavor. We found ourselves in this quaint town of Torrington CT and were looking for a place to grab lunch and found Tina's Cafe. We ordered the Chicken Bacon cheese quesadilla and the turkey bacon and cheese spinach wrap both were extremely tasty! The sour cream and pico de gallo was phenomenal and the wrap came with the side of hummus and carrots which we chose, the hummus was fantastic with just the right amount of garlic that gave it a little extra zing. We highly recommend if you're ever in the area to stop by this wonderful café, the staff was friendly, attentive, and excellent ! read more

absolutely terrible. grilled chicken salad for 13 dollars, processed bagged chicken instead of freshly made grilled chicken. charged 3.50 cents for a can of sprite. sma container half full! Completely disgusting and disappointed. The manager claimed to have been the one to make the salad. I would hate to see a "small ", if this is considered a "full" sized. read more

The service and friendliness was top notch at this local cafe. My husband, two kids and I came from out of town for an appointment and stopped at cafe 38 for a much needed lunch. We ordered the blt wrap, turkey, bacon, and Gouda wrap, mixed berry shake, Italian stallion wrap and a cup of the New England chowder. Everything tasted amazing and was priced just right. BIG E BAKED POTATO??? EAT YOUR HEART OUT!!! YOUVE BEEN TOPPED... I attend the big E yearly and my go to is always the baked potato. Best of the best until my visit to CAFE 38. I'm not even the type that writes reviews but this baked potato was worthy of it. A Big Potato topped with Cheese, Chili, Broccoli, Sour cream, bacon, chives and butter topped with a sprinkle of salt and pepper. And it is hands down the best I ever had. The store is locally owned and operated and that's all I've been supporting during Covid. The place was spotless and the staff super friendly. Ohhhh and the smoothies to die for! I wish this place all the luck during these times as they deserve it. Also the ability to order online made the work order super easy to place. I've given it 5 stars as 10 was not an option. If you're looking for a nice little cozy place with friendly staff and a lot of options cafe 38 is the perfect little spot in Torrington. They have a great selection of sandwiches, wraps, and salad's along with good desserts and little specialties. it's not an everyday thing but when they have their loaded baked potato give it a try it's awesome! read more

I had the chili and a 1/2 turkey sandwich on deliciously toasted whole wheat bread. The chili was very tasty, not too hot n spicy which is the way i like it. The sandwich was also delicious. Fresh turkey, tomato, lettuce, cheese and spicy mustard. YUM! read more

First of all- they're on 38 main, not east main. It's right next to Warner Theatre. The food and service are excellent and fantastic respectively. The chicken wrap was fresh and very tasty. And the Hershey ice cream is Reasonably priced. They get an A from me. Check them out when you go to the theatre. read more

amazing little ice cream and treat store. As soon as you walking the door it is like you have been welcome home, the owner is one of the friendliest people I have ever met, and her daughter is equally amazing. Although we do not live in Torrington, I make sure we are there at least a few times a month just to visit S&S! The ice cream is great, but if you want a real treat, try one of the sandwiches, ever since my children experienced a garlic bread grilled cheese,nothing can compare in their eyes! (and I have to say I agree with them!) read more

This place isn't just a ice cream place. It does lunch as well. It has a soup of the day. I got creamy tomato which was perfect for dipping my tuna melt into. My mom got the BLT and the baked potato soup. Both were spot on. The nice woman working there also made it all the better. read more

Charming local ice cream and sandwich shoppe! This is a great place to not only stop by and have a hand dipped Hershey's ice cream cone, cup or milk shake but also to enjoy soups and made-to-order salads, wraps and sandwiches. The owner and her staff are very friendly and customer service oriented. My salad was freshly made with organic greens . . . a generous portion at a very reasonable price. The ice cream is delicious with over 20 flavors of ice cream, Greek frozen yogurt, sorbet and Italian ice . . . some sugar free & gluten free flavors too! Was at Warner Theater with my girlfriend for a show... needed a bite to eat so we found this spot. Very cozy, the owner and staff were as friendly as could be. I got a chicken salad wrap that was very good. It's not like a super posh panini and espresso joint, but they are fantastic at what they do, which is a more homey folksy feel, simple food, straight coffee, and a little area where they sell jewelry and trinkets too. Oh, and when I accidentally left without my card, the owner ran after us in the freezing cold to give it to me! That says a lot to me about commitment to customer service. I plan on popping in again next time I'm there for a show. 5 stars. read more

I walked into this ice cream shop last night during the DARE Car Show; I was greeted by the very sweet daughter of the owners. Simple, no frills, friendly, safe...my kind of place. I ordered a 2 scoop waffle cone of Maple Walnut and Chocolate PNB. Yummy, fresh, delicious Hershey Ice Cream....you can't get that from an ice cream truck. I hope these folks make it. The food was fresh, organic and beautifully done. The owner, Tina, was very accommodating to numerous food allergies and delivered exactly what she promised. I took my nephews for lunch today after a fun couple hours at Child's Play up the street. Some of menu choices for the day were perfect....hot dogs & PB&J sandwiches. Easily one of the cutest and coziest cafes I have EVER been to. Everyone is so sweet and the food is amazing. It's sad that it's so hidden on Main Street because they deserve so many more customers, but maybe the fact that it is harder to find is what makes it so special. If you're a coffee snob, you have to go to Cafe' 38! We head straight here every visit after we land at lax. The coffee is spectacular, the pastries are delicious and the people watching does not disappoint. We especially enjoy the baristas showing their shtick . read more
