We walked in to see a great seafood restaurant setting. They had boats, fishes and fishing equipment and I can't forget the 2 alligators that greeted us as we walked in. The four of us were seated in a booth with both open ends, I loved this concept because I like sitting in booths except for getting in and out when you're sitting on the inside. The waiter was great we had some questions and he admitted to us he had only been working there three weeks and went and got someone to answer all our questions. He even gave us a sample of one of the side dishes to make sure we liked it. Everything on the menu sounded great, I got the grilled snapper with rice and coleslaw for the sides. Came to this place on a recommendation to get some local wild fish. We were created by 2 alligators. Of course anyone who lives in okeechobee knows alligators are in the wild everywhere here. We sat down to a rather empty place. I think people eat later here. Greated by a spirited waiter. He was very pleasant. The menu is extensive with all sorts of seafood. From fish tacos to grilled wild snapper. Several sides as well. My wife and I had the snapper and one other friend ordered the wild grouper. We also had the seafood chowder which was some of the best I have ever eaten. They could had used a little more meat. The dinner came and we ordered the 4oz portion but there is an 8 oz too. It was plenty along with rice and cole slaw and a copious amount of Fred broccoli. I couldn't had been more pleased for. $14 meal. They have several grea desert entries but not today. The wait staff were nice and the food was tasty. The atmosphere was very casual. It was early afternoon so the place was not busy. The manager had a meeting with waitstaff right next to our table which was a tad distracting. Dessert came out fancy like in a douple chipped plate. Staff wear jeans which is no issue but there was a lot of pulling up and tugging on those jeans. The more I sat there the more uncleanliness that I saw. The adorable fishing decor was dusty, there was clutter near the front entrance, shoe scuffs at the host stand, doors were thick with grime and bathrooms coated with drips and smudges and seat covers not offered. We've just moved here and we're making an effort to try the local places. Our hope is that we'll find some great local spots and make them our go-to spots. Tin Fish is going to be a contender! Our server was a bit discombobulated but I believe she was trying her best. It wasn't crowded and our food came out fresh. Calamari was very good! We got the spicy version but will probably try the regular next time. It was good, but the spicy seemed to come from a drizzle of bottled hot sauce. Neither one of us ate the fries (he commented that the seasoning tasted like a packet from ramen noodles). Slaw left a lot to be desired but our tacos were amazing! What a surprising little gem, smack-dab in the middle of Florida! My mother and I stopped here on the way to the East coast of Florida for lunch. Upon walking in, I almost peed my pants. I was looking back at my mother as I opened the door...so the large fake gators on the floor scared the living bejeezus out of me when I turned my head around! So forewarning..there are lifelike gators right as you walk in. The ambiance here is very casual, but I must say they have some amazing decor! We walked in late after their posted hours and asked if they were still seating, the guy (owner?) looked at the clock and said Sure, so we stayed and were seated. I ordered the gator, catfish, and frog legs dinner, my husband ordered the 6 piece fish and chips. The chips were waffle fries and were very tasty, and we both loved our dinners. The frog legs were my favorite and I'll definitely get them again. It was a lot of food and we had trouble finishing it. The coleslaw was very different but we loved it. It was not a mayo based coleslaw - I think it was vinegar based and tasted sweet/sour. We split a piece of raspberry (?) cheesecake which was just so-so, but maybe it was because we were so full. The food was great, the gator bites were plentiful and perfectly fried and if you've never tried gator this is as good as I've had it.
