My mother retired a baker, my sister, a chef, married a meat cutter, my brother is an organic farmer and all the progeny go to great lengths preparing beautiful and delicious meals. I don't possess the eloquence of a pro critic but this is the best casual seafood restaurant I've been to. We went twice our first two nights in town. Appetizers;The lobster bisque was a wonderful creamy consistency, clam chowder was great. and fried mushrooms with horseradish sauce makes all others pale by comparison. They were sliced and dusted with a light breading then fried to perfection. Entries; We had blackened mahi on Romaine salad with balsamic vinaigrette, grilled shrimp on Romaine salad and fried oyster/shrimp with slaw. This place was recommended to us so we thought we would give it a try! The waitress was over the top nice!! She went above and beyond. We tried the fish, the lobster and the chicken tacos. They were ok, definitely not something I would go back for. They were loaded with the pico that was too much to even be able to taste the meat. My son got chicken tenders and we all wished we would of got that. The gator appetizer was good. When the bill came it was $70! With the fries being frozen crinkle fries and just tossing seasoning on them. Honestly in all the places we have ate on vacation, this was the worst for what we paid. Definitely would not go back. Not worth the $$. I also would move the money on the rating to a three or four money sign. Definitely not a quick cheap bite. I'm only giving it 3 stars because of the waitress. read more

First time here and very disappointing. My husband and I had the surf and turf special. The filet was super tiny, about 4 bites. The potatoes were undercooked. The lobster tail was good as was the broccoli. We got one dessert with the two meals (?) and it was a lava cake. It just didn't taste fresh at all like the cake was stale or something. We also ordered a cup of the lobster bisque and it was the worst lobster bisque I have had. It tasted like ketchup. I hear the fish tacos are good but I am not sure that I want to go back. read more

Very well done restaurant. The atmosphere was upscale casual. The food was diverse and most was locally sourced. Full bar with a wine list by the bottle or glass. Beer was draft by the glass or pitcher and bottles, some unique selections as well. Staff was friendly and service was prompt. We will definitely be back. read more

The Po'Boy was supposed to come with tomato and lettuce mayo tartar and hot sauce They forgot the tomato and barely enough shrimp to go from one end to the other. More of a jam sandwich. I was here on business and as usual Yelp where to go. Tin fish had a great menu and good reviews so off I went. I have never been anywhere with such a diverse choice of tacos down to lobster and gator tacos. I went with lobster. I normally don't do fried but they were delicious. The vinegar based Cole slaw is delicious and the fries with a hint of Cajun spice. Prices are very reasonable. Great place! read more

We found ourselves staying in Okeechobee and decided to explore... we found Tin Fish and decided to have our Valentine's Day lunch here. The service was superb and the food was great, we had a minor issue with my husbands plate but the server was quick to fix it. At the end of our lunch the manager came by and we complemented her place, not only for the food and service, but also for the great music that was playing on that Sunday. Funny thing is that we have a Tin Fish in our neighborhood (we didn't realized it was the same 'chain') and the one closest to us doesn't even compare to what they have in Okeechobee. This place was fantastic. You could hear the fish frying in the kitchen and it came out quickly and piping hot. Their drinks were delicious and perfect for a hot day. Gillian was our server and was very attentive and helpful (and patient with all of our questions!). I had the fried fish, shrimp and a crab cake combo, which comes with coleslaw and French fries. My wife and I went out and celebrated our 10 year anniversary tonight and I'm so glad this was the restaurant I picked. It's a quiet place with amazing food! My wife ordered a platter of that came with mahi salmon talapia and shrimp. Just so happen to be out of the talapia so she got an extra portion of salmon (extra win!) I ordered grilled grouper which was so amazing I half of it before I even remembered to take a picture! I wife's salmon, Mahi, and shrimp were so delicious I can't help but help her finish after I scarfed down mine. The fried pickles were delicious as well. We finished off the evening with dessert she had salted caramel cheesecake and I had blueberry cheesecake both of which were stupendous!! Overall I would say you've got to try this place out next time you're in Okeechobee! This service as well as the speed of the kitchen or excellent as well! I had a Dr. appointment in Okeechobee, FL. I asked the folks at the Dr. Office where to eat since I wasn't familiar with the area. They both said "Tin Fish". The restaurant decor was really nice, including the gator that meets you at the entrance. It has an open concept so you can see the chef cooking. For lunch, I got the blackened Mahi sandwich with fries and slaw. The Mahi was perfectly cooked and seasoned. Flavor without being spicy hot. Now, I don't like slaw. BUT, their no-mayo slaw was the best I've had. It was almost like pickled. Great flavor. The service was great. I could tell the chef was VERY careful about everything that happens at the restaurant, to be sure things would be perfect for the customers. She had great pride in the restaurant and its success. If/when I go back to Okeechobee, I will return and I HIGHLY recommend going there. read more

I asked for the salad on romaine instead of iceberg, which they did without hesitation, and it was FABULOUS! There were numerous chunks of blue cheese in addition to the excellent dressing. The clam chowder was thick and creamy and the flavor was wonderful! In addition to an excellent meal, the service was great. A great dinner experience!! read more

There was a nice sauce and other toppings, but nothing over powered the fish, I could've eaten another (they are a nice big size). My friends and family keep telling me to try Tin Fish. In all due fairness, they go to the St. Lucie location. While taking a ride through Okeechobee, we decided to give this location a try. The service and employees were great, the food not so much. Two of us had their "World Famous" fish sandwich. Two long strips of fried fish on a hotdog bun. We stop at Tin Fish every time we drive to Orlando. Not any more! I ordered a salmon sandwich, I received a few tiny pieces of salmon, patched together with no explanation, apology or discount. We had grilled salmon, as an entree with rice pilaf and vegetables, and grilled mahi mahi with the house salad. There is a choice of 4 or 8 ounces. We got the larger portion. Next time, we will order the 4 ounce with the salad, and 8 as the entree. The fish in both cases was moist and tasty. Due to gluten issues, the kitchen was very careful with mine, grilling it away from away breaded fish. They did a good job, and I had no issues. This is our new favorite Okeechobee restaurant. read more

Tin Fish would be a good choice for a winter visitor to Okeechobee. The fish and chips are not bad, the coleslaw is not mayo-based, but interesting and nonetheless tasty. Avoid the regular fries. Select the waffle fries, even though they cost extra. The food comes hot. The serving staff is friendly. Shouldn't take long to get your order. Decor works well for a causal date, a family get-together, or just a nice lunch or dinner. This place used to be the local Five Guys, and we sincerely miss that restaurant. I suppose the patronage was just not high enough to support the place, or perhaps the folks in Okeechobee didn't want to spend five bucks for a really great burger, preferring McDonald's or Wendy's. Tin Fish is not a bad place to go if you crave fish and seafood, but the offerings are limited. read more

This place was great!! We came to Okeechobee to camp at the KOA. We were starving from camp set up and decided to check out the local food. When we arrived it was very empty. We arrived at around 1:30p. Our server was friendly and gave us great recommendations. We had the fish and chips and the fish, shrimp and crab cakes. Both came with coleslaw and fries. The coleslaw is a vinegar base so it may not be everyone's cup of tea. The fries were seasoned with Old Bay seasoning (I think). I was worried because it seemed like too much seasoning but they were very good. The tartar sauce was really good also , however the cocktail sauce could have used more horseradish (don't get me wrong it was good, more personal preference). The fish was breaded with a cornbread coating, it was flaky and moist. The shrimp were cooked well and had a nice snap to them. The crab cake was large and had a lot of crabmeat in it. On my way across the State when I arrived at Okeechobee a little after noon. After checking out Yelp reviews, I chose this place. Being in that area, I ordered catfish, gator and frog legs. They were all fried, not bad but not really good either. I had a salad to start to balance out the fried food - that was actually pretty good. The place is clean, service is friendly, and the atmosphere is like a mid-good chain restaurant with the attempt at a funky decor. Recently visited here. The chicken tenders were cold in some parts, they are definitely frozen. Our waitress, although she wore a mask, took no other sanitary precautions. I actually watched her wipe her nose and the come directly over to our table and bring me a refill, I stopped eating after that. She was going back and forth to tables while taking breaks to mess with her phone. She didn't wash her hands or use hand sanitizer once. I will never come here again. read more
