I honestly thought it was permanently closed, perhaps it was the tinted windows that sort of threw me off but I'm glad it was opened. I had an iced mocha and even though I asked for it to be very little sweet, it turned out to be super sweet. A cute cafe with a wonderful and friendly staff! Plenty of parking and a fun arrangement of mismatched chairs and tables for seating. The detail to the theme of the cafe did not go unnoticed. Bravo! We came in just to grab a quick coffee to go and they were very accommodating. We each ordered an iced salted caramel latte with almond milk. The almond milk was so good it out shone the coffee. We could honestly just drink the milk itself. Once mixed together the coffee was a little bitter and the salted caramel didn't change the flavor but the almond milk made all the difference. My 2nd time coming for the weekend brunch menu, although Nutmegs offers a fabulous daily menu -my apologies I was unable to post- but I promise you almost everything on the menu is delicious and freshly made down to the coffee and many varieties of tea as well. The young lady who worked behind the counter was very pleasant and offered great customer service. Cafe smells yummy and the deco inside is very cute. Everything on the menu looks and sounds amazing. Lots of healthy options in a town where that is quite rare. I've only tried two sandwiches here so far, but they were both amazing. I've tried my boyfriend's tuna panini which, as someone who doesn't usually like tuna, I loved! However, my go-to panini is the Ham and Pear. Sounds simple, but my goodness they have this recipe down SO good! It has the perfect mix of salty & sweet, served hot with beautifully melty cheese and bread with just the right amount of crunch. My wife and i try to visit at least once a month. It's her absolute favorite place in Okeechobee. We make it a point to support our local establishments as much as possible. This place is world class in my opinion. This last Sunday, my wife had the chicken salad on a croissaint with a potato salad side. She raved about it the entire way home, almost 3 hours. Great combination of sweet and savory. You must ry it. I had the 5 cheese panini with ham and salami. I forget what's called. it was swesome. The cheese spread was terrific. On a side note, i love the mix matched decor. A couple of the chairs were similar to what we had in my families patio back in the 70's. Give Nutmegs a chance next time you're in Okeechobee read more

I came in for an early lunch on my way to Orlando today. The reviews seemed great and everything was awesome! My partner and I don't always love coffee and smoothies from new places but this place got both our drinks right and they were really good! Our sandwiches were really good, too and great portions. My only complaint is how expensive everything is. The small smoothie I got was $9!!! and the sandwiches were delicious were pretty pricey, too. But overall, really good! read more

Great little sandwich shop in okeechobee. This is a much better option than any of the fast food restaurants. They are small and specials are the way to go. They close at 3:00 so it's just lunch but worth the visit. The staff is friendly and the facility is clean. We enjoy the salads and definitely cupcakes for dessert. read more

A little neighborhood cafe in downtown Okeechobee. We arrived about 2.5hrs before closing on a Sunday. After putting in our order for 6 people and sitting down, we were told that they were out of two of the items we ordered. The entire meal, we could hear the two young worker ladies chatting about their dating lives. There was no service at the table, anything we wanted, we had to ask for at the counter. The food however, was delicious. Everyone enjoyed their meal. Two people got the chicken salad, 3 got the turkey BLT and one got the ham and pear crisp. I also ordered hot tea which came out with honey and sugar cubes. They also offer a variety of desserts and I hear their cupcakes are good. I've been a fan of Nutmeg's ever since they opened! From the food to the atmosphere, there isn't another place like it in Okeechobee which makes it pretty special. I'm a HUGE fan of sandwiches and a big fan of Nutmeg's sandwiches. They have a very wide variety of options--anything from the normal turkey club, to the classic cuban, to a more unique Thanksgiving trimmings sandwich. I myself have enjoyed the cuban the most. It was a great take on the classic--the pork was juicy and flavorful, the ham was fresh, and the Swiss was bite-y but not overpowering. They pressed it to perfection as well with a crunchy yet fluffy bread that made the meal soar. I honestly forget what the side I got was because the sandwich was so good. They also have great baked goods (i'd recommend the cake pops), and the atmosphere again is very unique, with pleeeeenty of seating. They don't offer much tableside service, but that's not a huge deal to me as the food they serve is good enough to have to pick up from the counter, deli-style.
