Had dinner with my niece last night. This is a fairly large restaurant with outdoor seating. Our waitress Emily was awesome. A very happy waitress who made us feel good about eating here just by her smile and demeanor. I had the dolphin fingers and a side of okra and my niece the Parrot burger. Location is cute. Went on a Wed night and 1 table there, nobody at bar. Sat at outside bar, wanted a " bucket drink" from their specialty list. I chose $16 one. Server came out handex me a styrophome cup.Extra disappointed. I asked why and she stated for two years they have not had them.WHAT!!!!! Great outside tiki bar feel but had good tables, benches. Menu had original option's: -sister got the "flipper fingers" meaning fresh fish sticks perfectly breaded, Well made coleslaw, I avoid seeds so appreciated it not having celery seeds. Spouse got blacked shrimp salad.. cut in a pile of bite size pieces- sans tail!! He hates when tails are left on. My choice was coconut chicken fingers, LOTS of coconut! Orange marmalade was nearly drinkable good! We all love fried okra (A Texas holdover). Their fried okra was the freshest, most perfectly fried we all had ever had! We went for a Sunday lunch while visiting the area. The food was excellent, but it was served luke-warm. They were extremely busy so I didn't bring it to our server's (Kathy) attention, but if it had been less busy I would have. We ordered the Mahi Mahi dinner with okra, and waffle fries and the Blackened Catfish with mashed potatoes. Everything was flavorful and the fish was cooked perfectly. The quantity was sufficient to warrant "take home" containers, and reheated the next day, we enjoyed the food more at the right temperature. We met another couple at Parrot Island on a Tuesday for an early dinner & spent a couple of hours. The place had tons of people having a great time! We ordered a blackened shrimp wrap & coleslaw (instead of rice & beans); a pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw; chicken fettuccini w sides & catfish & shrimp platter. The wait for food was 90 minutes. I didn't expect much from a small town restaurant, but waiting 90 minutes for food was not acceptable. The waitress was nice but getting updates on the order would have been a good gesture. The food itself was mediocre. I got honey Dijon salmon with green beans and mashed potatoes. The green beans were TINY and looked like they were dumped from a can. The portions were small for a plate that cost over $22. Oh - and there were flies all over the place. A random stop in turned into a great lunch. We were in town for just a mine to check out the lake Okeechobee dyke, when my car battery died. so after dropping off the car at a shop we stopped into a nearby restaurant, in part because it seemed popular. We had drove by earlier and it was packed. We got a spot outside in a booth and after some waters and a drink order went over the menu. My choice was obvious, the French dip burger. I'm always a sucker for a French dip, but dipping a burger in au jus sounded succulent. Our server was back after our food order quickly with drinks. I had a simple run and coke and the it was perfect. There was a nice one man band playing in the corner outside. It was a bit loud for the moment, but it was good. the food came out and our friends had gotten some hush puppies too. They were legit good. They were pulled out of the fryer at the perfect time. meanwhile my burger was perfect. medium rare, extra pickles and extra au jus. It has become expensive to eat there which is not equal to the quality of the food. Drafts were once two for one but now only during short happy hour. Last visit we each ordered conch fritter appetizers and didn't look at menu. The charge was thirty-two dollars. It's just not worth it. read more

The Ambiance was ok. It was such a beautiful day out that we chose to eat outside. It felt like it should have been nice n the water, but it was on the highway. This was still ok. The service was great! No complaints there! Now to the food. I had a French Dip burger and fries. The burger was just ok, but the fries were so crisp and tender! My friend ordered the Balsamic Rib Eye Steak. It came with mashed potatoes and asparagus. He really enjoyed it, well that is until the bill came!! It was marked "market price", but it was a lunch size portion, so we both assumed 20-25. When the bill arrived, we were charged 53.00!!! That is just highway robbery! Fun atmosphere at the outdoor bar and the restaurant inside was cute with their island theme. Went during happy hour accidentally so we ended up getting BOGO on well drinks. The drinks were perfect for cranberry vodkas with lime. Couldn't ask for more. We decided on the bruschetta for an app. Delicious! Wish the bread was more toasted but overall good. I had the mahi mahi fish sandwich while my boyfriend had the lobster tail sandwich. I wasn't as much of a fan with the mahi mahi in a sandwich because it was a dry combo. The fish itself wasn't overcooked and had a light seasoning. The lobster tail was disappointing as you couldn't even taste it. Tasted just like tilapia honestly. The seaside Cobb salad was nearly 5 stars. Four lightly grilled jumbo shrimp, very fresh with lovely avocados. They added a touch of slimy lettucr to the detract the five stars. The catfish was excellent, lightly breaded, very flavorful and cooked perfectly. The hush puppies were large nicely done perfectly sweet and tasty. The clam chowder was lukewarm. It had a nice taste it look like it had been stored and then microwave for a little while when I ordered it. The service was rapid, cheerful, and the server even noticed that the salad was served with bacon when it was specifically ordered without bacon. A five star meal was significantly degraded, because the place was full of smoke. The adjacent bar was smoky, the outside area which should've been non-smoking according to Florida state law with smoky. It was a challenge to breathe, and while the food was quite good by the end of the meal we were ready to leave. read more

Keep in mind, I passed the board coming inside that the special was salmon at $24.95. When I saw the bill with the Catch of the day at $46, I about choked! Being an Okeechobee weekend regular, and also bring a FL keys lover, I had been wanting to try Parrot Island Grill for so long. My boyfriend and I finally experienced it on a Saturday night and really enjoyed it! It was around 9pm on a Saturday when I had a sudden craving for wings. A lot of places were closed at this time, so we were happy to hear Parrot Island Grill was open! Finally the perfect opportunity to try this Okeechobee hotspot. We had a friendly greeting when we walked in, and opted to sit outside under the tiki hut. It was a chilly night, but I was immediately transported to the warm feeling of the Keys. It really does feel like you're in the keys, and that's awesome! Loved the vibes! Our server (can't remember his name) was super friendly, quick, attentive, and helpful. He highly recommended the wings blackened. I also wanted to try the mango habanero - so we ordered half and half. The wings were so good! I love spicy and wow, the mango habanero wings were really spicy! I enjoyed them very much. The blackened wings were my favorite, though; our server was on point with that recommendation. The wings had a lot of meat, were very juicy, and were served extremely fresh; they were absolutely perfect. The drinks were 2 for 1 that night; two draft beers cost $3 total -- amazing deal! Major bonus points for the draft beer being really cold! I loved Parrot Island Grill and plan to visit often. Great experience, definitely recommend. read more

Okeechobee doesn't have a great variety for dining out, so you take what's available and hope they surprise you. Not this time, the conch fritters were under done and not prepared well (the conch was like eating BB's). The prime rib taco's were a lunch special that the waitress had the kitchen make for me for dinner ( the service was excellent BTW). The tacos tasted very good, but the prime rib wasn't trimmed and had a lot of gristle and fat. The fish sticks, chicken strips, and quesadilla didn't impress. This is not too bad for Okachobee but anywhere else it's just average. read more

This restaurant was a great find. We happened to be driving by and we saw the colorful sign and the out door patio. We were there for lunch nothing major until we saw some Specifics on the menu that made me smile there was enough fish and meat that will satisfy anybody. This was our first time there and will definitely be back, JR was our server he did a great job. I ordered the burger rare It came out closer to medium but it was very tasty so I was OK about it. We also ordered the Aji tuna flatbread which was amazing so we were quite happy with everything we had. We will definitely be back and we will be bringing friends. The servers / hostess were wearing masks which also made us happy. I only gave it four stars because they allow smokers on the patio. It may be a Florida thing but there shouldn't be any smoking when there's food in the area it takes away from the food. Came here with high hopes as most photos online look nice and the menu seemed to be flavorful and decently priced. I ordered the fish dip as an app, the blackened shrimp tacos as an entree and chicken tenders for my daughter. We'll start with the fish dip, the dip itself wasn't awful, very generic but still good. The presentation was lacking. Needs more color, and a lemon at the very least. The tomatoes served with it were sour and mushy. But not an awful dish all around. The shrimp tacos were very very bland. The black beans and rice had not even a hint of seasoning. And the rice was watery and gross. The tacos didn't come with the sauces they were supposed come with and again, lacked any sort of color and flavor. I even tried hot sauce on it, didn't help. The salsa was inedible and the shrimp, though I ordered blackened, once again didn't have any flavor. I was really looking forward to the sauces on the tacos, but was informed the sauces weren't put on due to the cook being new. I get it we're all human. The tortillas were soggy from all the juice from the beans and watery rice as well. All around not pleased. The chicken fingers and fries though? Those were great. Drinks were good, and service was awesome. I just think there was a lack of effort for the food today. I will give them another shot one of these days. But wasn't impressed this time at all. Best catfish I ever had! Not to mention their ahi tuna plus their happy hour with the 2 for 1 beers made us come back to back! The service was great and friendly, there's always a wait but if there's space in the bar you can get wait there and have an appetizer and/or a drink. I had the shrimp po' boy sandwich. Bun could have been fresher. Slaw was better than most. Husband's mahi mahi was thin. We're used to a thicker slab. It was more like a speck fillet. The twice-baked potato was small and flattened. The second side which was green beans didn't come but hubby didn't remember until the next day. The atmosphere was good. We ate inside.
