I found this place for my daughter because she wanted to go to a place with a dinner look/feel. We were coming from a really fun vacation in Sarasota, so we swung in for lunch on our way back. Let me tell you this was the highlight of her entire trip. She had her first corn dog and loved it, she was also obsessed with the decor. Our waitress was so sweet, we chatted with her and learned about when she opened the restaurant and how long she had been in the industry. The food was pretty good, however the service was not. The waitress was rude and was upset that we came in at 1:30 cause they were closing at 2pm that day. We did not know this as there were no signs on the door and they had made a post on Facebook at 12pm saying "Hey we are open!". It really bothered us. Big Tasty's is the real deal!! Just had some freshly made potato salad, that rivals my own dad's famous potato salad, and that's saying something! Burger so juicy I had the juices running between my fingers. So tasty. It's a true 'Classic 50's diner' from the juke box rockin Elvis tunes, to the red glitter and vinyl covered bar stools and vintage car posters on the turquoise walls. Absolutely put it on your favorite spot to stop as you're cruising through Okeechobee. I'll be back for the fried green tomatoes on my next trip. We'll see how close they come to grandma's, but I'm betting they'll be spectacular.. read more

We waited a while to try this new restaurant in Okeechobee, to let them get their "sea legs". Stopped in for breakfast this morning around 9AM. There was one other table when we arrived. We ordered: 2 black coffees 2 egg mushroom, tomato and cheddar omelette, hash browns, rye toast 3 egg spinach, tomato and cheddar omelette, home fries, rye toast extra order of home fries Service was a little slow, considering they were not busy...about 20 minutes to receive our food. A couple more parties came in after we received our food. The Food: Omelettes looked the same size, even though one was to be a 2 egg, the other a 3 egg. Either we each got a 3 egg (bonus) or each got a 2 egg (shorted). The mushroom, tomato and cheddar omelette was incorrectly served as a mushroom, spinach and cheddar omelette. We pointed this out the the server, telling her that it was OK, but that she should know. She said the cook made the mistake, the order submitted was correct. Both omelettes were a little greasy, and quite salty... The hash browns were OK, the home fries over-salted as served. $30.00 including an 18% tip... The Verdict: It was just OK...there are better and less expensive options in Okeechobee for breakfast...not likely to return... read more

They were fast and the food was delicious. Just had chicken Philly and regular Philly cheesesteak sandwich that was really good. My daughter who likes her hot dog just so ate every bite. Would definitely recommend this spot. read more

We were out riding the motorcycle and were hungry for a place to eat breakfast. I spotted this little diner in a strip center and we had a parking spot waiting for us out front. It was truly the decor of a 50's diner, Black & white checkered and red. It was also very clean. We sat at the counter and watched the short order cook in front of us flipping burgers. They looked really great.. it was a huge patty 80/20 according to the cook... We wanted breakfast but they only had one grill and they said breakfast is done at 11 am so our choices were a tuna melt and 4 cheese grilled cheese sandwich and fries. The owner served us and said the tuna salad was made fresh that morning. It was grilled with my choice Swiss cheese and rye bread. They put tomato slices and red onion. I also had a chocolate malted because it looked amazing and tasted great I thought the prices were a little high for the area but the place was packed. I would eat here regularly if I lived nearby. read more

I want to once again state what wonderful people serve you at Big Tasty's. I had been feeling bad and put in a take out order with them and they walked it out to my car for delivery! So very accommodating! I love their chili cheese dog and the onion rings are fabulous! Definitely one of my top go to places! read more

Super great atmosphere, cute burger and shake place but I overheard regulars talking about their typical meals which weren't burgers (I forget, something classic and dinery). Incredibly disappointing. Our table had ants all over it when we sat down and felt disgustingly unsanitary. The waitress was rude and the menu is very limited. Breakfast is only served until 11 am with no exceptions. read more

Service was quick and ok. Place was clean. Waitress did not come back after we got food to check if everything was ok. Cheese on burger was over-melted. The burger was cooked how I ordered it, but had no "flavor" to the meat. Wasn't bad mind you, just nothing special. Fries; not impressed. Could have been Or-Ida crinkle cut fries from the grocery. Mostly over cooked or old oil. My friend's milkshake was good she said. For $16.75 plus tip for burger, fries, drink and shake I thought it was a bit overpriced.
