Friendly and fast pace, very welcoming when you walk In, party melt was good always a good breakfast spot to pass by once your in the area

2025 the location was sold to a couple. Very nice change to the location since past owner. The burger was a special, extra large and handmade! So good and priced under $10 on a special day. DEFINETLY the best place to eat in Okeechobee, 2025. Prices very affordable! Breakfast was next to try, pancakes were extra large, tadte was amazing and you got 2 to 3! It was unreal to see! The breakfast was plentifal for sure! 2026, couldnt wait to stop in while going through the small town for breakfast. New menu, higher prices was first the shock. Then seeing the pancake was a complete shock, just normal size and the taste was nothing like before to the point it had no taste. Unfortunatly we will not make the stop through town at least for breakfast. Maybe stop to see if the burger is still as AMAZING as it was last year. I can deal with paying dollars more, but to also make portions smaller, especially a pancake.......not a good business decision. Sorry read more

Love this lil gem! Its not much to look at but the food is good, reasonably priced, its clean including the bathrooms, and the wait staff is terrific! There are several $4.49 breakfast specials and they cant be beat. For example I usually get 2 eggs, 2 sausage patties (or bacon), and hash browns (or homefries) with a drink for $4.49! They've got pancakes, biscuits & gravy and so much more, its a full breakfast & lunch menu. Found this place in Jan 24 and have been back a couple times a wk since then, We usually have a table of 6 and all the food comes out hot at the same time. We drove to Okeechobee for the day and had breakfast at Gladys' Restaurant. The atmosphere was very modern with artistic touches and comfortable seating. The service was very attentive and friendly, the menu had great options, the food was delicious, and the price was wonderful. This restaurant really surprised me of how wonderful it is, and I look forward to a return visit soon. read more

I guess I should have checked yelp first. Gladys sucks. I'm just supposed to know that I seat myself, and which tables have been cleaned. PURPOSELY ignored. The waitress was straight up mean when I asked if a table was clean. "As far as I know." She said. An absolute joke of an experience. Look up hospitality in the dictionary Gladys, or at least hire kind humans, or at least put a sign up. Just moved to town and will certainly never be back, except maybe to warn others away. read more

Eat a great breakfast at Gladys every Wednesday with some of my buds with the Vietnam veteran's of America but today we tried it for lunch. I ordered fish and chips and wife hah a grilled-cheese and fries with a soda. The fish were great and should have been called tasty fish as the breading and preparation made the decent size portion the best I have had in a while. My wife had their grilled cheese which she said had much delicious melted cheddar, offered other choices, with a good portion of fries . Once again very satisfied with a bill of about $16.00 and change so for for $20.00 we had a great lunch, we will be back! Service was also great, reason for the $20. read more

No pics for this one. Been riding past this place for a very long time always commenting we need to stop. Well today was that day. What a letdown. The hashbrowns are not fresh, food sevice boxed, two ? Strips of bacon was a joke they are paper thin. Service was pleasant but slow, and kitchen was slower. Let me start by saying that I love this little spot! Both waitresses I have been attended by are very friendly and attentive. One of them is sassy and funny but not in any disrespectful way and the other is really friendly too. Different personalities are one thing that make places memorable. You will get the bill before your meal ends-- that is normal here, so don't freak out or get offended! The breakfast & lunch specials here are very good good deals and all other prices are fair as well. Quality-wise, I really think this is beyond your "greasy spoon" places, it's more like a local and small scale Denny's or IHOP. Their buttermilk pancakes are fluffy and delicious. The default for bacon is crispy, but I'm sure if I ask for chewy they'd make it that way. I love their bacon, eggs, and pancake breakfast special which is $3.99 as long as you buy a drink. At lunch one time I had the lunch special, Chicken Philly sandwich; loved every bite, gourmet quality! This is definitely a great place to bring the family for breakfast or lunch; keep in mind that the last order is accepted at 1:45pm because they close at 2pm. I'm not sure why they are rated at 3 stars because they are much, much better than that. Lowest stars should be at least 4 stars, but I've had 5 star experiences. read more

I can't even review the food because my wife an I stood at the front waiting to be acknowledged. Several servers past by us with not so much as a "hi, be with you in a minute." Dismal service is the gap between me and ever even trying their food. read more

Sorry to say, not impressed. When I asked for waffles (I was thinking Belgian) it was legit a "leggo my eggo" situation...on a chipped plate no less. I really wanted to like this place for all its quaint small town glory... but for real I could've pulled up to Walmart and grabbed a box of eggo waffles if that's what I wanted... read more

This is all about expectations. We were on the road traveling from Miami to Tampa and wanted to stop somewhere for breakfast. Fast food and chain restaurants were off the table for options. So we found Gladys' in Okeechobee! It was the perfect breakfast spot for a road trip. I had the standard eggs, sausage, and hash browns. New owner, different taste. I've been here a few times, it's definitely gotten better, but still could use some improvements. First off I've only done breakfast. The food started off not so good but it's gotten much better. I assume there are 2 cooks cause some days it's really good other days I'm curious who sent me the raw bacon with undercooked eggs. The pancakes suck, I think their the mix where you just add water, they need to change to the mix where you add eggs(my own experience at home made me guess this). The rest of the breakfast is much better, and getting better. They need to change a few things, First get rid of those too fancy plates, embrace the diner-esque feel of the place. Be a diner give bigger portions, sure you need to offer the 1-egg special for Okeechobee seniors but be a diner sell big plates. What is up with the 15 homefries, their obviously straight from the freezer, save money make them yourself and put more on the plate while cutting your cost. Finally get some quicker servers, you can almost touch one wall while standing next to another wall here yet it takes forever for your server to make it back around to you. I like the food, but someone please listen to me before this ends up being another closed business. read more

A few months ago I went in for breakfast with some family of mine that frequents there several times a week for breakfast. When asked if I wanted white or wheat for my breakfast sandwich I replied white. When the waitress brought UNtoasted white bread for my sandwich to the table I mentioned that it was not toasted and the waitress started to lecture me for not specifying that I wanted my bread toasted. First of all YOU are the waitress put a smile on and toast my damn bread. Secondly if you do this every day wouldn't you think to clarify? So very rude and still refused to toast it. Stopped by while driving around in the area. It is a small, hometown diner sort of place, but it packs a great punch. The staff was friendly and attentive, the food excellent and the sweet tea was the best in Florida. I had their Cheese Steak sandwich and was impressed. For the price point, it is hard to beat the quality and service. I'll be back. read more

Breakfast is great! Loved the homefries.. Service is a little slow as they have only one waitress this morning. Nice and clean though.

Small town diner feel with quality home cooked breakfast. Hash brown were nothing to write home about (opt for the toast instead in the $3.99 breakfast special). But the biscuits with sausage gravy were delicious! Service was unattentive at best (had 3 empty coffee mugs around the table and finally had to ask a different waitress to find our waitress for refills), but luckily, we were here for a cheap wholesome breakfast and that is what we got! read more

Stopped on way while crossing State of FL - Friendly staff- fluffiest pancakes-awesome scrambled eggs -added onions and cheese- onions were sautéed and so tasty- sausage patties were large and tasted great - great prices ! I have to say the food looked good and the place was crowded. I would hate to think our experience was based on the fact we were not local. We stopped on our way to West Palm Beach on Sunday morning. We waited a few minutes for a table, had to wait for it to be cleaned when we were seated, and then had to ask for coffee. Finally the waitress took our order. All we ordered was eggs, bacon, toast and coffee. Then we waited and waited and waited. Nobody ever asked if we wanted more coffee. We could not flag anyone down. Others that came in after us ate and left. The place had half cleared out. Finally we got the waitress attention asked how much longer. She said she did not know. Our order was next to be cooked. We were very nice about it and I said I am sorry we need to go. We have been here an hour. How much is the coffee? She answered "$1.61". She never offered an apology, to get the manager or owner or anything. We basically wasted an hour. Customer service and satisfaction is obviously not a priority. read more

service was good.... my wife sent her plate back twice.. for the scrambled eggs being under doned and the hash browns being under cooked.. coffe was good, my breakfast the omelete was a little over cooked.. we wont be eating breakfst there no more.. we will be going back to our normal diners for breakfast here in Okeechobee read more
