This is the perfect little lunch cafe. As a local, I have tried almost everything on the menu and love all their sandwiches. For a fun change up try the pear and bacon or the mousetrap, which is a next level grilled cheese. The English pea salad and beet salad are delightful sides. So we found this quaint place on YELP. What a great restaurant! Everything is homemade and was it delicious!! I also had the black bean and pumpkin soup it was fantastic! The charm of this place can't be beat. The sweet tea was great too! I ate so much I didn't have room for the fresh cupcakes. Nutmegs is one of the most consistently good cafe's to eat at. I haven't had any food problems yet. The customer service is good, all of the employees there I've interacted with are friendly. Nutmeg's serves a variety of unique paninis. I tried the Ham & Pear Crisp Sandwich based on a recommendation from one of the servers. The sandwich was ok. The texture of the sandwich was similar to that of eating an apple pie but the pear slices did not have much flavor or the sweetness that I was expecting. The ham was of ok quality and the bread was toasty. Overall, this sandwich shop seems to have a lot of good ideas but has room for improvement. read more

I really like this place, it's my go to in Okeechobee :-) it is independently owned. The owners and staff are super sweet and it has a super homey vibe to it. It is very ecelectic decor. stopped here on our way out to the east coast for a weekend based on reviews here on Yelp. They have a ton of choices as far as salads and sandwiches go - but alot of the sandwiches were made on your basic white bread. Kind of uneventful. I will say the salad we got was extremely fresh and quite tasty. Maybe next time we are in the area we need to get a cupcake. Nice place and friendly staff. One recommendation is to have someone look at the receipt for the order and make sure the order is complete and accurate before handing to a customer. Also for the peanut butter bacon sandwich I would have been glad to pay a bit more for more bacon yet never thought that there would be only one slice of bacon on a bacon sandwich. That seems odd. Places like this are why I Yelp . We were driving through the area, and needed a place for lunch. I would never have found or picked this place out by myself, but so glad we found it. My sundried tomato and chicken quiche was delicious, and the avocado Greek dressing was so good I ate the side salad (which is saying a lot for me!). Kids grilled cheese and ham and cheese were eaten quickly, and hubby's ham and pear panini was really tasty. Every once in a while Yelp and I combine to form a perfect union. It doesn't always work this well. While driving across state highway 70 between Florida's gulf and Atlantic coasts i needed to stop for gas and lunch with the family. After I got gas I checked yelp for a local lunch stop. Selected Nutmeg's and so glad I did. A charming little, locally-owned, sandwich shop and bakery with some interesting soups, salads, paninis and sandwiches. My kids are finicky eaters and they even enjoyed their selections. My SO and I were thoroughly satisfied as well. A really nice and casual lunch in an eclectically decorated little joint right off the main highway. A truly enjoyable lunch. Just what we were looking for. You order at a counter and they bring the food to your table. Friendly service in a very clean environment. Thank you Meg for a very enjoyable experience. Open late morning through early evening, about 7:00 pm. Not really a dinner stop but an absolutely perfect lunch stop. We will be back to explore the other menu options. read more

This place is a good place to swing by to get a taste of any one of their great salads, soups, sandwiches as well as any of their terrific desserts. While the the food maybe great for most palates, one thing that this cafe lacks is the speed of service. I get this is Okeechobee, and we're a pretty laid back town, but when I'm hungry and i order a meal, I have a certain expectation that my order will be ready within a reasonable time. There have been several times where i have ordered a sandwich onsite and have sat their waiting for nearly 20-25 minutes before i was handed my bag. These were times where the store was not busy and they were not understaffed. I was also disappointed when a small lunch order was placed for my office; the order was put in when the store opened and we gave them a very generous amount of time (about and hour and a half) to prepare 3 sandwiches and 2 salads. We got there, the items weren't ready so we had to wait until the items were bagged. Unfortunately we realized a few items were missing when we returned to the office, so another trip had to be made. The food was great, however, for as long as they have been open, i wouldn't expect such "rookie mistakes" to happen so often. Maybe it's just me, but when I walk into a cafe/restaurant that has been established for a while, they should have an efficient workflow/process in place to make the customer experience better. If you have the time, i would suggest you stop by this Cafe to enjoy the items they have. read more

As someone who lives in NYC my food standards are pretty high. Nutmegs is far from mediocre. We had Erica's panini and the special onion bloom panini with the beet salad and pasta salad. Neat little hole in the wall when in for a cuppa coffee and they suggested need to go to serenity coffee right down the block they also told me that they only do food no coffee so I picked up my food and went down the block to serenity coffee asked him if it was OK if I could bring my food in and have a cuppa coffee Jenny and Curtis said there was no problem we don't serve that much food you can bring it in we sat down had something from Nut Meg and enjoyed our coffee may sell these two shops work together should see more of this but you don't thank you everybody read more

This is my absolute favorite restaurant! I have tried many of the items and all of them are amazing. My favorite is the chicken salad on croissant and the mousetrap. All of the sides are really great too but the pea salad is my favorite. They also have the best cupcakes and cake balls I have ever had!
