When I walked in I told the cashier I was on a diet, told her I was going to have to do the container instead of all you could eat . After I went to the register paid for my selection then she tells me I could not eat with our dinner party. She then went to the manager and confirmed the manager said NO ! this is poor management and customer service. They should have said something when I asked. Restaurant is extremely clean. The food is always hot, fresh and replenished in a timely manner. Great selection and delicious. Can't beat the price, which includes a fantastic array of desserts. The staff are professional and courteous. This establishment is truly a hidden gem. read more

Today while waiting for the restaurant to open, the female manager came to open the doors. She passed my door and proceeded to open the doors that were furthest away first. May I add, there were two men standing in front of the doors that were farther away. Then she came and opened my door last. I have seen so many women proceed to serve a man first, even if a woman has been waiting equally long. So many other factors I won't share at this time. I was definitely offended. We go here for lunch quite often. One of the few places that I can get fresh gizzards and livers. I like the fact I can get fish and grits any day at lunch. Servers are always friendly, and most have been here for years , and are on the ball. read more

It seems like I always make an appearance here when I'm out in Okeechobee. Buffet style is a win if you are a fan of a lot of food for a good price. Salad, baked potato, and soup bar was on my first plate. Ham, meatloaf, bourbon chicken, a bunch of starches, and some vegetables to indulge on for the second plate. And yes, get the famous bread rolls they have there. They bring them out to the table for you when they are freshly baked. The third plate consisted of chocolate dipped strawberries and marshmallows, banana, and bread pudding. I could live on the bread pudding alone. There's something about that pudding they make their own way and I rather just go to the restaurant to have it instead of making it myself. We're fans of GC and we're excited to find one open in Okeechobee. While the sign at the door said that masks were required, and GC would provide disposable gloves, the clientele generally ignored following the rules, and cruised around the restaurant and serving line, glove & mask free. One family let their young kids generally run around, going up to the serving line at will, again - no masks or gloves. After visiting two restaurants here, their seems to be no sense of gravity about the potential of contracting the deadly virus. And while I understand that masks aren't a particularly great preventer of airborne diseases, I'm convinced that they're, " better than nothing!!" read more

Not the best or largest Golden Corral I have been to, but the food was tasty and the service was excellent. I swear the servers seem to know all the other guests by name. They bring the dinner rolls which I love to the table. The baked potato was particularly good though I had to hunt around for fixings in the taco and salad bars. Golden Corral, I'm going to admit: I didn't have any expectations for you. Buffet's scare me. Maybe it's the mediocre luke-warm food, or the diner-like atmosphere with strange upholstery, or the often over-weight people that are found eating at buffets. BUT, I was pleasantly surprised here. The food was actually good, like, so good that i ate probably three times my weight in food. First plate: salad bar and baked potato bar and soup bar, which had every vegetable, topping, and dressing you could ever desire. Second plate: turkey, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, stuffing, gravy, broccoli and other veggies,and mac n cheese. Then I went and got a third plate of all these same things. It was like Thanksgiving dinner, twice. Fourth Plate: bread pudding, banana cream pie, ice cream sundae, jello and whipped cream. WOAH. We eat at Golden Corral often. We travel half the year and pretty much know what we are going to find. Today, however, we stopped at this site and were delighted to find the largest selection of food that we have ever seen. The restaurant was very busy when we were there, but all food was fresh and filled. Our server, Robert, was attentive to all his tables. He refilled our waters and offered to bring rolls to the table. Our dirty plates were picked up immediately. We are only going to be here for a week, but would definitely consider eating there again before we leave. read more

It's the best deal in town. Food is good. Always ready, plenty to choose from. Clam Chowder is really good as are the chicken livers and most every thing else. Dollar for dollar it's no contest. One of the best Golden Corral's we've ever eaten in & I am not a huge fan of this chain restaurant. We were forced to eat here just because there are not a lot of options in the fishing town of Okeechobee. The service was great & entire staff very friendly & seemed very appreciative of us eating there. The steak was mouth watering! We requested boiled shrimp & within minutes it was on the bar. The bathroom sinks full of vomit, the toilet didn't flush. I usually love coming to Golden Corral in my hometown. I tried calling ahead then after I left my wallet there after eating, called again numerous times and no one picks up. My wife and i went here because we were starving after a long day of driving and figured we could get food fast. well we were right we were able to get food fast... The service was not really good, i waited a long time for a water refill even after asking for one. so many people there were coughing, I'm just hoping we aren't going to get sick. The food was nothing special. The best thing there was the salad bar which wasn't anything special. What was annoying was the people that worked there were not quick or easy to get a hold of when i needed service, but if I took a spoon or fork or anything from the "wrong" side they were quick to tell me I had to get it from the other side... What difference does it matter? a spoon is a spoon. Then when we tried leaving we had to leave a certain way, we started walking one way and they stopped us and told us we had to walk around a different way. going to the same door. There was no one either way... was one way going to block or impede the traffic that didn't exist? I only reason I'm giving this 2 stars instead of one, come to think of it I'm changing my decision to one. I can't think of a good reason to even give them 2 stars. The food isn't as bad as other places in town. It's a buffet, and it's slightly depressing the atmosphere was fat people stuffing themselves, I had one plate and left. I kept it simple, fried chicken, mashed potatoes, corn, and bread. Snooze fest afterwards, the flavor was also a snooze fest. This was typical senior citizen fare, you season to taste with salt & pepper, or get super bland food. I am writing this review on behalf of my aunt, an frequent visitor of Goldman Corral ever since I can remember. Since she is not computer savvy enough to find where to post her experience, she asked me to post a comment she shared with the family on Facebook. Here's a copy/paste: "We went to golden coral in okeechobee,still a buffet, no mask no gloves is your choice.when I called I asked questions how safe it was they lie to me.we turned around and left.sad watch out.play it safe." Her concern was that she was not made aware of lax social distancing requirements aside from being told differently when she called ahead of the 1 hour drive to the location. Ultimately she didn't eat there, which a person with increased health risks posed by COVID-19 such as her should not be exposed to. Ultimately her experience may have been a one off experience that wasn't repeated upon other customers. But her experience was no less tainted by the experience. Overall she loves GC and will no doubt continue to go, if not to that location, then to another one. In these times of extra caution and concern, though, please be mindful of the population you are serving, and keep their trust by showing you care for their life, if not safety. Thank you for taking the time to read this and hopefully make changes to rectify this oversight. read more
