For those of you who follow my reviews, as a chef, you know that eating at a buffet, especially a Chinese food buffet is not something I look forward to. However, Chinese buffets is my wife's sweet spot and so here we are at Mikata. Atmosphere: if you have ever been to a Chinese buffet, you know the look... functionally efficient cafeteria. Definitely not a mood environment. As with all buffets, it had tons of people moving through the lines to gather as much food as they could. Service: As with the atmosphere, it was functionally efficient. Although I must admit, our server did talk with us and had a great smile. Food: Ah the food. I never like buffets because the food is usually underdone when it first comes out and becomes overdone as it sits and waits to be picked on. However, even though I don't like Chinese buffets, because I visit them often (for my lovely bride) I've become quite experienced of the genre. And if you compare the Mikata buffet with other buffet' s, I must say, this one is as good as it gets. The crab Rangoon was small but amply filled with cheese. The ribs were juicy, and the peel and eat shrimp were top notch. As a bonus, they even offered asparagus instead of the usual broccoli or green beans. My favorite offering was the roasted duck. It was juicy without being fatty, absolutely the best I've had in a Chinese buffet. Even the ice cream tasted better than most. Price: Here is the best thing about Mikata. Where else can you get an all you can eat dinner for $17.00 per person! Even McDonalds will cost you more than that! The Bottom Line: As always my "customer so what" is would I come back? Knowing my wife's proclivity towards Chinese buffets, you can bet on it. However, because of the price and quality, she won't hear my usual complaints. read more

Save yourself the time and money and go somewhere else. This place is absolutely not worth it, and the prices are way too high for what they offer. The food is mediocre, the sushi lacks variety, and to be honest, it's not even that fresh. The staff isn't remarkable either. I went there with my family for my birthday, hoping to enjoy a nice sushi dinner, but it turned out to be a complete disappointment. The place is messy and not very clean, and the staff isn't friendly at all. Do yourself a favor--don't go! read more

They have a large variety of different types of food. I've been there for both lunch and dinner. It's absolutely delicious.

There was ample parking since the restaurant is situated on the corner of a plaza . The selection was vast and the food was good/average. There were booth and table/chairs seating. We did not wait long to be seated. Also private dining areas if needed. The place was clean and the workers were attentive. read more

After a visit to the nearby Elliot museum we came over here for an early dinner. Reviews were a mixed bag but that is kind of par for the course with this type of dining establishment. Some people love an inexpensive all you can eat buffet while for other people it is a hard pass. Located in the Marketplace Square shopping plaza, the parking lot was already full by the time we arrived. This place is huge so we had no problem getting a table. The restaurant looks older with tile floors and a lot of dark wood but it was clean except for the restroom which was a disaster. Seating is in rooms off to the side from the main buffet room. As soon as we arrived our server promptly took our drink order and they were very good about coming by often to clean the table take dirty dishes away. In the buffet room there is a large cold bar with seafood, salads, and desserts. They also offer hibachi and sushi. In the center of the room was four hot stations with the type of dishes you normally find in this kind of restaurant, sweet and sour chicken, beef and broccoli, Crab Rangoon, noodles, fried rice, ribs both pork and beef, fish, green beans, dumplings, sea food boil, salt and pepper shrimp, coconut shrimp, roasted potatoes, etc. I really enjoyed the peel and shrimp which were jumbo sized. The fresh fruit was also a great ending to the meal. They also had a coffee mousse cake and cheesecake that were nice along with ice cream and a few other pastries. I appreciate that the buffet was refilled promptly and the food was fresh. It was $16.99 for a dinner buffet which I think it is a great value if just for the seafood alone. I drive again 40 minutes 1 way to eat here. If the bad reviews were true, why is this place so busy? The negative reviews have to be competitors like the one down the road they has terrible good. I love coming here. I've been coming here for about 18 years. It's not updated and pretty but the food is good and price is right. Sushi is not the best but the shrimp & oysters are delicious. Always a line to get in because this place is loved!! You get seated pretty quickly and worth the wait. Lots of places charge extra for crab legs so it's normal so those who don't eat this expense seafood can save money. I am picky and if I make that far drive it's worth it. if the bad reviews were true, why is this place always so busy. The food is hot and fresh. read more

Very simple right to the point I have 38 years in the culinary industry as a certified executive chef. This review is brutally honest right to the point. If you know, anything at all about food, you will find this place utterly amazing. The price is unbelievable for what they offer. Oysters, crab, shrimp, scallops, salmon, fillet, and more. The food is incredibly well seasoned no MSG the buffet is flawlessly clean. I love this place return The bathrooms three out of four stars the waitresses two stars. Plenty of parking. So. So my only negative comment is if their busing staff were professionally trained and spoke a little more English this place would get five stars for me and a story. What happened? I used to come here all the time a year ago. Today, I showed up for lunch, and the only good thing was the ice cream!. Most of the food was not hot enough, but I doubt that this would have made the quality of the food any better. Tasted like it sat too long or simply they have a different chef than years ago. Anyway, I will not be back By the way, the place as more than 3/4 emply, but nonetheless service was also terrible. No water refills, dirty dishes remained on table too long, tired of waiting for fortune cokie and check , so just got up and paid up front. Never again here. read more

Good variety of food, lots of shrimp, mussels and crawfish; for $13.99 you can have a nice lunch and finish it with delicious fresh fruits, jello, puddings, pastries and ice creams. Our waitress was very nice and friendly, so that's a plus for them too. I would come back in the future! read more

It used to be hit or miss. Now it is always a MISS. The plates you take on the buffet table are usually soaking wet. Dirty flatware. Lots of health inspection violations if you research so between the dirty bathrooms and sushi makers who harass you when you take the fish off the platter, I will pass. The sushi and seafood is all room temperature. Today the body odor was overwhelming. The food is of low quality to keep the prices so low. Too risky getting a food borne illness. ICK !!!! We are from California, visiting Jensen Beach for the first time; We wanted a buffet for lunch, found this 3 stars restaurant on Yelps, decided to try out. We were surprised to see many customers eating here. There were 6-7 food stations, plus, Sushi & Hibachi with lots of choices. Overall, foods were pretty good and fresh, especially, many seafoods for my Pescatarian husband; their shrimps and mussels were big, and grilled Salmon was very tasty; staff was attentive, all though restaurant looked little old and dark. $12.99/pp for lunch buffet, definitely worth it! read more

Well here we go again! This is a fine eating place if you are hungry! They have all the traditional meals along with a Sushi Bar and Mongolia Grill which is a big hit among the locals. Piles of raw oysters, steamed shrimp, crawfish and mussels!! I was so impressed by the amount of food, I over ate and had to take a nap! The service was excellent and the staff made sure all the food plates were full all the time on the buffet. They had really good desserts and my favorite, ice cold cheese cake! The Ambiance is not what I would expect, but the food, service and pricing made up for it. Reasonable prices for both lunch and dinner. We love the shellfish and amazing service and even the pineapples and mangos are to die for. Best value lunch or dinner in all 50 states. We don't know how they do it so well but they do. We have been anxious to try this buffet. We got there early enough to not have to wait on line. It was very different than I had expected. It is more Chinese food oriented than Japanese. Sashimi only 2 choices Sushi had several. Soups had 3 choices and they were tasty. The choices of food were varied and kept full and hot by staff. The waitresses work very hard keeping tables clear of dirty dishes and drinks full. I have to say I admire their work ethic! Customers on the other hand were occasionally rude. Which I don't understand. Yes it's a busy environment but relax folks you'll all get your opportunity to get your choices. People walk in circles not looking to see others which could be a problem if you are carrying a full plate. Otherwise it's not noisy. The ice cream needs to be labeled especially if there is a sugar free offering. The oysters were a great treat as were all the shrimp dishes. Personally like to see less fried food and more sautéed offerings and less breading/coatings on foods. It was an interesting experience one we will repeat!!!! read more
