Average food, but seemed clean. I was a fan of this spot and came fairly often, but recently the food has been less than enjoyable. The seasonings seem to have been lost, other than the salt shaker and soy sauce. The hot dishes today seemed well under the "safe" temperature of 140°. The sushi and cold shrimp were cooled properly. Not sure when I'll be returning, but I think I'll bring my instant read thermometer. Maybe I'll be lucky enough that the Teppanachi grill will be cooking fresh stuff. Excellent Sushi and choices. I went for dinner and had Sashimi, Tuna, Salmon, and about 20 different sushi roll choices. Service was good with my drink never becoming empty, while everyone worked together to keep the tables clean of empty plates. Exceptional Teamwork Ambiance was good, families, friends having conversations, while music played in the background. As a returning customer we found changes that surprised us. First in the Sashimi section Escolar was gone. Only Salmon and Tuna. Disappointing! The soups were delicious! Thank you! Some of the Chinese food were ice cold! Obviously we couldn't eat. I do recognize the change in the economy and business competitiveness makes business difficult. With a $20.99 price point for Saturday Dinner, our expectations were modest. Sakura is in an older strip mall anchored by Publix. The inside is clean and warm with lots of wood accents throughout. The buffet was kept clean and well stocked. The family that runs this restaurant works very hard to keep customers happy, constantly clearing plates, cleaning, and filling drinks. We found tuna and salmon sashimi, about 6 different sushi selections including tuna, salmon, eel, tilapia, octopus and one unmarked. There were probably 25 rolls which include the items listed above and shrimp. The sashimi was excellent and we wish they had an expanded selection. The sushi was good but rice to fish ratio was too much rice. The rolls in general were "ok". They lacked flavor and all kind of tasted similar. We tried almost all of them. The salad selection included multiple salads including seaweed, shrimp, cuttlefish, kimchi and a few others. The seaweed salad was our favorite. There were also peel and eat shrimp and shellfish that we didn't try. The hot selections were a mixed bag. Most fried items were not very good. The mushrooms and string beans were great. My other half liked the fried chicken and dumplings. We did not do the hibachi but it looked kind of sad with fewer offerings than most. Tried the hot & sour soup and found it way sour and way spicy - couldn't even eat it. There are fresh and canned fruits for dessert, 6 ice cream flavors, and a small assortment of cakes. Also jello and puddings. Theres enough here that everyone (well maybe not vegans) should be able to find enough to be satisfied. I'd call this a "value" restaurant choice based on food quality. I'd be more inclined to go to one of the better sushi establishments in Stuart/Jensen Beach and order one or two excellent rolls. But if you want choice, this may be your ticket. read more

There was plenty and it was all cooked to perfection. The ambiance was also so good. It really makes me feel like I am in a buffet in Japan. I never eat sushi but this place is very friendly, clean and busy so the food is always fresh. The sushi was being made constantly and was delicious! We went to the restaurant on a Sunday around 7:45 pm. We were seated by a man who asked us what we wanted to drink. My boyfriend told him a brand of Japanese beer and he said he didn't have that one. He told us what he did have and his accent was strong so neither one of us could understand what he was saying. He seemed to get annoyed that we didn't understand a just kept saying it louder. Finally we figured it out. The sushi bar only had one Vegan vegetable roll. This is all I was interested in since I don't eat animal flesh. I took the entire roll some seaweed salad and edamame pods. The rice on the rolls was extremely rubbery and kind of crunchy like it had been sitting out all day. Knowing how little options they offer for people who don't eat animals I ate it. I went back up for round two and by this time it was a little after 8pm. The vegetable roll was gone and they refused to make another one because after 8 pm they don't put anything new out. I can understand not putting out a whole tray of food but I don't think a single roll of sushi of which I was going to take the entire roll would hurt anyone. The restaurant didn't close until 9pm. So the rest of my meal was sliced oranges. It was actually the best tasting part of the meal. They were cleaning the restaurant which is understandable because they would be closing in an hour. The same man who seated us in the beginning was washing the glass around the buffet tables. He was spraying windex next to the food and actually reaching over and around customers to clean if they were in his way. I was very annoyed by him. I will say the woman that came to our table a few times was very nice. She was funny and calls the women at the tables beautiful in a cheerful way. The only reason I did not give the restaurant 1 star is because of her. She was the only delightful part of the experience. I don't eat that so I ate off of the regular buffet and wasn't impressed with the food at all. 9/10/18 Went back yesterday for my husbands birthday. We asked if you didn't want the buffet if we could order off the menu that is posted on their website. The manager looked at me like I had 3 heads. He said this is a Buffett ok. I literally just wanted vegetable tempura. If it wasn't for my husband I would have left. Luckily the rest of the party liked sushi so they were good. Manager/owner whoever he is needs an attitude adjustment. When our waitress gave us the bill we were able to use the only coupon. Buy 2 buffets get the 3rd half price. I came here today to be a eater after working out, leg days. I came in with a hankering for spare ribs. There were no spare ribs. They had most of the normal stuff I get, ginger chicken, fish, chicken on a stick, crab Rangoon, as well as some new stuff of bacon wrapped shrimp, broccoli and chicken as well as a few other items. The sushi bar had most of the normal stuff I get. It was missing a few of the sushi I did like but had others I never had before. One of the sushi was spicy crab. Oh my was that actually too spicy. It overwhelmed my taste buds that water nor other sushi could fix for like 10 minutes. The desserts were the same as always, jello, ice cream, pastry's and some different types of fruits. My waitress is the same waitress I always have. I forget her name right now but she's about 5'2, black hair, Asian and always smiles when I arrive. I feel the quality is ok, nothing spectacular. Some items are hit and miss. I wish they would have crab legs that were steamed and not charge extra for them. I thought I've learned my lesson by now in "listening to my gut" and sticking with "the initial choice." After a long hard physical work day, I suggested to my boss/friend the buffet place we'd normally go to. He felt adventurous, and I followed him reluctantly. For us, the business's location is convenient, and we were very hungry. Prior to going there, I accessed their website on my cell phone. The main page states "Great food at a great price! Lunch $8.99." Keep that price in mind.... Upon entering, we see a male at the front desk. After a couple of moments passed, he acknowledged us and advised us right away lunch is over, it's dinner time, and dinner is $10.99. I turned to my friend while in a very confused state and looked at the time right after. It was 1:45 P.M. Unless they go by the time in Japan (would've been 1:45 A.M.), it should've still been lunch time when we got there. With my face still showing great confusion, I turned to my friend and asked if he still wanted to dine here. Knowing how hungry we both were, he decided to dine there despite us being deceived. And so I followed his lead. Like our usual buffet place, they were all about the business of getting us seated immediately. Eventually, sometime during our stay, I grabbed the attention of our waitress as she passed by our table to confirm whether lunch was over or not and if the current price for the buffet was $10.99 as quoted by the man at the front desk. She said it's $14.99 now! I was more confused and outraged than before, as you can easily imagine. I asked why. She said it's because of their "special" Valentine's Day dinner promotion. My friend was in the bathroom while this transpired. Once he returned from there, I told him what our waitress told me. Not to my surprise, he was confused and outraged as well. I jokingly said "For every minute we sit here, the price increases!" We left as soon as we had our fill of food which was decent, and hot tea. The interior tries its best to mimic Japanese architecture and bring some Japanese culture to the Stuart area. The interior's decently decorated and is maintained well. The staff ensured the dining area and bathrooms were clean at all times. While Sakura Japanese Buffet is good at the building's upkeep and keeping it consistently clean, as well as ensuring the buffet items were replenished at all times, lack of communication among staff and deceiving customers by charging them for dinner when it's still lunch are enough for at least my friend and I to never return again. That's shady business on their part. If the man at the front desk were to have told us buffet was $14.99, then we would've saved ourselves the trouble and walked out right there and then to go to our usual buffet spot! There's this cliche, and it goes something like this, "You live and you learn," and we certainly have. There's a first for everything, but there's also a last. I give this place a merciful 2/5 Yelp stars. read more
