This used to be our go to for good sushi, and delicious salmon...not any more. Has definitely gone downhill since Kaz left. Waitress took our order, read it back to us correctly and we still had items missing. We hadn't eaten yet and was asked if we were ready for the check. Told them we haven't even gotten our food yet. Food was not very good at all. Brown rice was either old or microwaved. Salmon was overcooked and broccoli was soggy and tasted like it was soaked in a vinegar/sugar sauce. I came here last night with my mom and two young children. When I walked in, there was only one clean table, and one dirty table. There was no hostess, so I sat my car seat with my baby on the larger table that was clean. Finally, someone came out who happened to be the only waitress in the whole restaurant. It's a small restaurant so it's sort of understandable and she had a little bit of help from what seem to be the manager. It took about 15 minutes for her to even come up and ask if we wanted anything to drink. Another 10 minutes to come out and we still didn't have any waters. Eventually, that other table cleaned when someone came in. While the staff was very friendly and accommodating, you could tell that the restaurant was understaffed. When the food came out, it was good and the tea that's not listed on the menu was also very good. The prices here are also very reasonable. read more

Once upon a time this was my favorite sushi restaurant. Coming back years later I was massively disappointed in the food. I gagged at the conch nigiri, the wahoo nigiri was squishy, and the tuna was sliced so thin it was see through. My friend and I immediately felt a little off after we left, and we ended up being up all night vomiting. I don't know if we caught a food borne illness from the fish, but that has never happened to me. I now live in Arizona, and we have better sushi there in a land locked desert state. Awful. read more

I wish their menu was more expensive though with simpler rolls (tuna/salmon avocado or tuna cucumber etc.) a lot of their rolls are involved and expensive and have cream cheese. I got two rolls and both were pretty good. The fish is fresh and tastes good. I think for $20 they were a bit small though. Anniversary roll: 7/10 I honestly didn't like this because the crab was fresh but it tasted weird and it got overpowered by the cooked salmon. I also got a shell. Salmon Deluxe: 9/10 The udon soup was like warm when it came out and those aren't udon noodles. My friend ordered a salmon cucumber roll and they brought out a salmon avocado. She is allergic to avocado and had a reaction because I believe they simply rewrapped the roll when we sent it back. read more

I would like to give Kazu a good review but tonight's meal was sub par. The salmon eggs were not fresh ( we know the difference) and the nori wrap on our rolls was not toasted. It was like eating a large rubber band. These rolls came out minutes after we placed our order. I suspect that they were made before we ordered, perhaps in error for another guest. I am a retired, professional ( Master ) chef and I know "stuff" happens but watching the sushi chef work i felt that he was bored, and didn't want to be there. Just my gut feeling. Having lived in large cities before moving to PSL and having been to Japan a few times, I was looking for a Japanese restaurant owned by Japanese nationals and featuring Japanese cuisine (only). Most of the other local options are Thai-Japanese restaurants and to a one, the Thai food is much better. They are four chefs from Japan. The service was friendly and efficient. It's a small location but they make the most of it; they do take reservations. When I asked what kind of white fish they had, there were 4 including tilefish! They also had conch, sweet shrimp and scallop, all delicious. The nigiri sushi pieces are larger than in most restaurants and for many, that'll be a bonus, BTW, the amount of rice is similar, there is just more fish on each piece. This will now become my recurring sushi lunch place and I will bring friends to try it. My only suggestion would be for them to write on a board the selection of fresh fishes available as I am guessing it varies. read more

Absolutely HORRIBLE! Under new ownership and management........quickly they have run what was am amazing place for sushi into the ground. I had been a huge fan of the original owner Kazu even before he had owned this restaurant but unfortunately sold the business. The so called manager is clearly and completely in the wrong business. Zero hospitality skills and rude. The energy of restaurant is now depressing. I went in for lunch and the manager greeted me with a "are you picking up?", whatever happened to greeting someone with, hi how are you today??! And this is the manager Then quickly told me they were closing at 2:00....another words.....hurry up. Then he turns off the music, to complete the dining experience as if to say get out. The portions are incredibly small now and cost far more. So for a place I used to frequent, love and recommend I would say stay away. Somewhat disappointed. I read so many positive reviews of this location and I was very excited to try this place out, but unfortunately the sushi just fell through. Although the taste was there, the presentation was lacking. The sushi was not fully formed and attempting to eat it would result in a crumply mess. Also oddly enough the spicy mayo isn't really what is to be expected. The sauce is by no means mayo and Sriracha it's entirely a different sauce which is not spicy at all. I would probably give this place another try in the future to see if maybe when I went it was just a bad day. read more

Since the new owner has taken over, Kazu has gone down the tubes. I was there today for lunch with my friend. We had to ask for the lunch menu as the owner did not provide it for us. I had to send my salad back because the dressing has so much salt in it, I could barely take a bite. Then I was given miso soup instead, which was also overly salty. I received my lunch plate special with the tempura roll that did not have any avocado. Apparently they ran out of avocado for the day at 12 o'clock on a Friday. My friend was forced to change her order as well, they said they didn't have ingredients to make the cowboy roll. The quality of the fish and ingredients has changed and it tastes gross!!! I have been going to Kazu for 15+ years, and sadly I will not be returning. read more

my number one pick for sushi in Stuart is Kazu.I have come to Stuart often and had not yet found a sushi place I liked. The menu at Kazu is inventive and offered some rolls new to me such as conch in addition to my favorites which I enjoyed. I am very cautious when it comes to eating raw fish, but I feel I can trust Kazu. The sushi I had was delicious and very fresh. The restaurant is small, clean, and simply decorated with a sushi bar one can sit at. I have not dined there as I I have only taken out.The location is very good as it is in a strip mall that offers good shopping and services. The staff is friendly and efficient and modifications are not a problem. Dinner is served daily but lunch hours are more limited. The sushi chefs know what they are doing here. I will look no further for my sushi fix when I come to Stuart. read more

This place is located in a small strip mall - we almost missed it. You're greeted by a host that seats you in this cozy restaurant. The ambience is casual, but feels high end and elegant. Very clean and professional super friendly staff. Our waitress made us feel like long lost friends. The food, oh man! Amazing! We started with appetizers of lightly breaded fried soft shell crab that was delightfully crispy with a melt in your mouth soft crab interior. Also had the chicken livers which I adore in any shape, form or fashion and this app was seasoned with soy sauce and other delicious Asian spices. Soft and tender, I could have made this my meal. Finished our appetizers with squid salad that was tender and lightly seasoned in a vinegar sauce. Our main was a Salmon Box which had Salmon Sashimi, Salmon Sushi, Spicy Salmon Hand Roll, Salmon wrapped in cucumber, and a Salmon Roll. This is the freshest Salmon anything I've had in a sushi restaurant - tender and silky. Wow is all I can say and that's such an understatement. Also included a side of a Salmon Skin Roll. Their house salad and miso soup also accompanies the Salmon Box. Even the salad was amazing - the dressing... YUM! Miso soup was perfect! Really nice sushi place. We tried 4 rolls and the soft shell crab appetizer. One good think about going to a place far from home is that the selection is very different than what I am used to. Hamachi roll-I love yellow tail. It is hands down my favourite sushi but I have never had it in a roll before. The scallion was not over powering and the taste was quite good. Tempura roll- standard roll that you can can get everywhere. Was good and I liked it. Tamago - we always get tamago as our sushi desert. Here it had the rice inside and was huge. I loved it, although it was sweeter than I am used to. I would order this in bulk! Kazu roll. melted on your mouth and was delicious, although I would have gone lighter on the sauce Futomaki roll- really yummy and I would recommend this one. It was my boyfriend fav and he ate most of it. This was the first time I tried Kanpyo and it was lovely and quite sweet when I was expecting a savoury taste so was a nice surprise.
