Surprisingly great place in a strip mall in Stuart! The food here is very good. B/f and I both had the wasabi dumplings for appetizers...so very good. He had a tempura roll and I had one of their special crab rolls and they were both very, good. The rice was really good and the fillings tasted very nice. I've heard the sake selection is here is good, but we both had beer. Service was very friendly and nice. Place was crowded but it's not that big. Everyone seemed to be enjoying their food. Table near us got one of the boats and that looked like it had a lot of good stuff on it. I would go back. Also, at first I thought this was named after the alien on "The Flintstones" but then someone said that was Gazoo, not Kazu. Would have been incrementally more fun if it was named after the little guy with the big head who used to torment Fred and Barney. read more

Stopped by here while on vacation. Ordered the Pork Dumpling appetizers with a small house Sake. They were delicious! Our meal seemed like it took a while to get, but it was worth the wait. Found this place on Yep and can't say I couldn't be happier! The food was incredible. We had edamame and tofu for appetizers. They came out fresh and promptly. On a random raining Sunday night in Stuart, driving around doing errands (bored) we decided to Yelp a random sushi place. We live here but our usual place was farther away in Palm City. After seeing the pictures we decided to try this joint. The one thing I forgot to do was look at their reviews. My wife reminded me of that before we walked in. After scrolling through the reviews briefly we found most of them were good. We were greeted immediately upon sitting at the bar by Corene. We would later discover that she would give us the best service we've ever had in Stuart. Do yourself a favor make this one of your local sushi spots. We have now changed it to ours. For many years I had a close friend who was a highly trained Japanese chef from Japan so it is hard to fool me. Both lunch and dinner menus have a vegetarian special with tasty seaweed salad and a variety of vegetable nigari and maki styles of sushi. These are all Vegan! Be sure to try the lotus root appetizer. It is crunchy and has a subtly addictive sauce. Kazu--who happens to be the owner--imports a variety of teas that are the best cups in town. You can take a box home with you if you like. I love the Genmai Cha. It is a roasted rice and green tea blend known to promote good dreaming. The wasabi and pickled ginger are always fresh and the right level of strong. They even have wheat-free soy sauce. I insist you give this a try because the vegetables are all gorgeous and the service is excellent. For the longest time this was the only restaurant I trusted in the Stuart area. We have been looking for good sushi in the area after a recent move and we couldn't be happier to have found Kazu! Good thing it's about 30 min away, or we'd be here every week. We tried the wild salmon appetizer, Fuji yama and anniversary rolls. They did not disappoint! The fish was fresh and we didn't leave hungry!! Excellent sashimi, sake was awesome!!!! Service wasn't consistent- odd- I came in right before they were closing with 25 minutes to spare - to an empty restaurant. I was reminded that the restaurant was closing soon (after I ordered as to remind me that I should eat quickly)- that didn't bother me because I eat sashimi faster than most Asians... What did bother me was being charged for an item I never got... Next time I'm definitely combing over the bill here. read more

Ignore the strip mall surroundings! Inside is pure Japan. Excellent fresh fish at great prices. Inventive menu. Tasteful decor and Japanese beer and saki! Interesting Japanese plates and proper glassware add to the interest and raise the level of dining. Wide selection of Japanese dishes including Sushi and Sashimi. Definitely a Mom and Pop type place with this much attention to detail. They don't mind special requests or changes. A good place to impress a date, bring a group or teach the kids all about Sushi! The sake selection is large - but I am not discriminating enough to know the difference. It's like having ten different bottles of ketchup in front of you. At the end of the day its just a component part of the meal and if you don't spit it out, then it's good enough to do the job. An otherwise completely average, completely acceptable sushi place. There is not much to complain about but the wait and take out is not recommended. Really fresh fish expertly handled with a huge sake selection. I have also had the best tempura miso soup here and usually that's just an after thought for most places. My take out experience wasn't the best. It took over an hour to get our order. So long so they took our phone number and told us to wander around and they would give us a call when our food was ready. When we picked up our order the colds were stacked with the hots so on the drive home everything got warm. We had to toss the sushi in the freeze for a bit to get it back to a comfortable raw fish eating temperature. So dine in always - take out not again. read more

I'm on a strict 'no rice' health program and we asked our waitress if the Kazu chef who was working this evening would have been kind enough to make our sushi and hand rolls without any rice and she said absolutely since they have regular customers who come in and ask for no seaweed on their sushi so it was doable. So, it looks like we will be coming here more often from now on to soothe our sushi cravings. Although, I must say that the presentation on the sushi does need some work. The seaweed sheet looked old and when I tried to mix my wasabi with soy sauce, it also seemed old and did not blend too well, otherwise the sushi and hand rolls were pretty delicious. Definitely not impressed. Is it better than McDonald's? Sure, but it is at the bottom of my list for sushi places. Was not tasty, the rolls were on the small side, the server was simply being an order taker. I don't know if we were there on an off night but 7 pm on a Saturday should have varsity squad. There are at least 3 other places in Stuart that are better, by a lot. read more

Kazu is wonderful. It is the only exclusive Japanese restaurant in the area. All the other restaurants that serve sushi or other Japanese dishes do so in combination with other cuisines such as Thai. Think Hog Snappers and you'll know what I mean. In my opinion, these restaurants never do either very well. If you're looking for authentic Japanese, served in a quaint space by a pleasant staff, Kazu is for you. The space is small, hushed and very Japanese. This restaurant caters to a better crowd who appreciates subtle perfection. Real Japanese food created by real Japanese Sushi Masters. If you're used to commercial sushi and you think the rolls need to be extra big or ice cold, then Kazu will be wasted on you. This being said, some of the best items are not sushi. Try the Katsu or the spectacular Kimpiro Gobo. Try anyhting, you can't go wrong. read more

Kazu is absolutely a family favorite, and my first choice in dining out (or rather, taking out) every time I return to Stuart to visit the fam. I'm extremely picky about my seafood, and Kazu has never disappointed me, or my even pickier father. The fish is always fresh and delicious. We've probably ordered almost every dish on the menu, but our regulars are a couple of spicy tuna rolls, a tuna hand roll, the avocado tuna salad, and the chicken katsudon. We'll usually throw in a couple of new rolls each time to spice things up, but like I said- NEVER disappointed. Living in north Florida now, I'm always hesitant to try sushi places, and I'm very frequently disappointed by them. Dining at Kazu (or munching on Kazu takeout in the comfort of the living room I grew up in) is always one of the things I most look forward to when I come back to Stuart, and I highly recommend you give them a try! read more

We have gone to this restaurant since it opened. We went there right after COVID and we try to support local businesses. Tonight we arrived at 8:22pm. We were "greeted" by the routine server who knows us. We were told that they were down a sushi chef, they had no tables ( they had a table for two attached to a table for four, which in the past they have separated) and they could not serve us and the chef told her to close. We said nothing and we left. We were not happy. No real Im So Sorry. No Nothing. We went to eat and then returned to see if we could talk to the owner. We knocked and went in. In a calm manner, we expressed how we felt as long standing customers. The owner said ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. The waitress however, told us that she couldn't believe we were disrespecting them. I told her we understood it wasn't her decision she was doing what she was told and this is why i wanted to speak to the owner. Her response was "Well, he obviously isn't saying anything to you!" The fact that we expressed our displeasure seemed to irritate the server and the owner never said anything. No apologies, no nothing. So loyalty to this small business doesn't matter and neither does he care if a server yells at his customer. There are other restaurants and other places we can spend our money. We don't need to be treated as if our past patronage is not appreciated. We will never be back and when the snow bird leave and the summer is lean, I hope they survive. But our money will be spent else where. read more

Kazu is the best little sushi restaurant in the area. Boasting an amazing variety of sake, authentic Japanese cuisine, fresh and generously portioned sushi at extremely reasonable prices, this is a place we are happy to frequent on a weekly basis. Owner and sushi chef Kaz takes obvious pride in his establishment. It's a fairly small space, but very tastefully and elegantly decorated, with the end result being a cosy but buzzing ambiance. If you're a regular, you can get in on the frequent special occaions where the restaurant is closed for private sake tasting events, always popular and well worth it. You won't find a better sushi experience on the Treasure Coast. To those saying that the prices are similar to other sushi restaurants, I'd like to ask where else you've been for sushi. I've been to many sushi restaurants in Stuart, Jupiter and PB Gardens, and Kazu is the best value by far. An order of nigiri sushi at Kazu consists of two pieces and typically ranges between $4-6, depending on the kind of fish. Many other restaurants we've been to in the area charge that much for a single piece of sushi, and the piece of fish you get is half the size. read more

This place is tiny, the food is very good, and they get the details right, like the saki cups, which look like fine hand-made pottery. There was a wait for tables (the bar was full too) on a Thursday afternoon in August, which is crazy for off season, even the local Outback doesn't have that problem, so get there early! read more

Sushi is a complex offering. The fish must be fresh, the preparation must be appropriate and complete, and the presentation makes all the difference. With these parameters in mind, I give this Restaurant five stars. The menu is varied and complete and the special rolls are imaginative and delicious. My only issue is the use of cream cheese in so many preparations. I'm not sure where this comes from? Fortunately, I am able to customize my order and eliminate the cream cheese. This is the best place in town for sushi, sake, and service. The sushi is fresh, consistent, and absolutely divine. The sake selection is second to none, and the service is fabulous. The chefs are experts at their craft, and have been here since the restaurant opened its doors. Such great food and service! I have a favorite place in Ny that I go to but thanks to my wonderful boyfriend he found this place. The rolls were fresh and delicious. The Saki was very good. If your undecided as to what type of Saki to get just ask. The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. I will definitely visit this establishment again while in the area. read more

First let me say the sushi is really good. The wait staff on the other hand, leaves something to be desired. Our waitress took forever to get refills on our drinks and left us sitting at our table for 30 minutes without clearing our plates, refilling our drinks or bringing our check. When my friend said something to her about it she was already walking away and gave us a half assed apology over her shoulder. There are plenty of other great sushi restaurants around here so we won't be going back. read more

Came here on a recommendation from my father-in-law when he was down in Florida for vacation. He claims that this is the best sushi place he's ever been to. The sushi itself being one of the best he's ever had. Man, was he ever wrong. Surprising, because he's eaten at the top places in the northeast. The nigiri sushi itself was poorly constructed. The fish, hardly preserved. Platters only had standard sushi fishes - tuna, salmon, fluke. No white tuna, barely any yellowtail. Even the California rolls were made incorrectly. Below average at best. Nothing authentic about it either. What's even crazier is that the udon used Lo-mein noodles. What the heck? A japanese cannot possibly own this place. Beef teriyaki was strange with a really odd watery sauce. Meat seemed to be cut strangely. The only seemingly good thing about this place is the REALLY large sake menu. Which now that I think about it, is probably the reason why my father-in-law loves this place so much. A little lubrication can go a long way. Haha.
