The fact that, because my family is four people, we had to all agree on one of three menus before we sit down, is one of the craziest things I've ever heard of, and I have a bachelor's in culinary management. I was pretty excited to see a AYCE sushi and hotpot open up in Martin County. The prices are decent and it's the typical AYCE option and whatever you don't finish, they charge per lb. The service is nice and they bring the food out relatively quick. Cool modern ambiance. My father did the hotpot and it was okay. Not much options during lunch but I'm sure there's more options during dinner. However, it did take the pot a long time for it to actually boil. The lunch sushi was okay, still had plenty of options. (The Michael Douglas roll is not good) The dinner sushi was fantastic. Obviously more options and my favorite is the yellowtail on fire. Honestly could eat 10 orders of that and be happy. The place was very nicely decorated. The bottom of the table can be a bit close so long legs may need to adjust. Loved the food, waitress was very attentive. The only thing I did not care for was the miso soup. It was heavily loaded with seaweed in a small bowl so it was not much of a soup but still had a good taste. I did just the sushi (no hot pot this time). Really nice for the price. Went on a Friday evening and waited 40 minutes which was 20 minutes faster than the projected wait time. DECEPTIVE. I have been wanting to try Umiya since it opened. I decided to take my 82 year old neighbor there for lunch. When we walked in we were asked if it was our first time and excitedly, we said yes. We were shown two menus: one was for á la cart items and the other was all-you-can-eat. We only wanted a simple lunch: a plate with a protein, a starch, and a vegetable, but we were given the $33 all-you-can-eat menu (which is false because of you order MORE, they charge you an ADDITIONAL $5!!!). Once seated, I said "This place is expensive to come to just for lunch." À la carte is defined as "ordering individual items separately, rather than getting them as part of a package, set meal, or bundle", so we figured that would wind up being even more expensive. We could have left, but we stayed, we ate, and we enjoyed our time together. The food was good and the staff was very attentive--no issues there at all. But when it came time to pay, I asked to see the á la carte menu. Our server brought it over to us and there were many items you could order individually. The other laminated page showed the hibachi meals! I said to her "This is exactly what we wanted... this is not a la carte", to which her response was "We call that á la cart". So my neighbor and I wound up with a $78 bill for lunch before tipping, when it could have been a $44 bill. Very, very deceptive. read more

I was super excited to check out this restaurant! My partner and I both got the AYCE Hot Pot and Sushi combo they offer for dinner, that came out to $38.98/per person. The sushi was great, good portions and very tasty. What I found to be extremely disappointing was the hot pot. At other hot pot places I've frequented, they typically have a buffet with all the meats, veggies and sides. At Umiya, the buffet only has some vegetable options, not many, and a small sauce bar. We were given a tablet to order our meats and sides. Not a problem, something new but willing to give it a try. What was extremely disappointing were the portion sizes. They are small, VERY small. When we sat down, we ordered 2 portions of sliced brisket and 1 portion of sliced lamb. Our server brought a single plate with 7 slices total, for both the brisket and lamb. This wasn't a child's order, this was for two adults. Overall, the service was great, our waiter/server was fantastic and very friendly. But the portion sizes were laughable. Our total ended up being $109.02 total: $38.95 for the AYCE hot pot/sushi combo and $3.50 each for our sodas plus $18.17 for tip. For that price, it's not worth revisiting. read more

This is a new restaurant that opened a few days ago. We arrived around 12:30 and got seated right away. We ordered from the AYCE sushi menu. The appetizer, soup, hibachi, & salad came quickly and was all delicious. We ordered numerous specialty sushi rolls (approx 8 pieces) which took a bit of time. Once the sushi rolls came the presentation was nice and tasted fresh. I really liked the "made to order" concept and you get a good variety that you can order from on the AYCE sushi menu. Our waitress Angel answered all of our questions and provided great service. The manager came by to check in on us which I like. The restaurant was clean and had great ambiance. Make sure you go there hungry. We will be going back possibly next time to try the hot pot. read more

We had the tempura chicken, Goyza, 2 different rolls (Lexington and Lover), the egg rolls, the salad, and some odd appetizers and it was AMAZING! I would like to say that me and my husband went in for a quick date night and the service was exceptional and the food was amazing we did the Hotpot and Sushi Combo, we only ordered one Sushi and Seperate Hotpots. I do not understand why some people cannot comprehend something that is so explainable, everything is a literal do it yourself, you pick your items and your bases overall everything is there to help you cook and you'll have it made the way you want it done, additionally, you really only get prepared sushi and other items that we did not get to try, but alas, we will be back to try other menu items. Its Ahhhhhh. Food was over/undercooked. Sushi was pretty good service lacks. Anything cooked in back is a crap shoot. The table design for hot pot is comical. The designer that signed off on those tables should be hung they have 0 function. 3 or more people you all get the same thing. Grandma doesnt want sushi to bad your paying for it. Overall a 3 is generous. I may go again to see if they can fix the issues but mostly if this place makes it, it will be because there is nothing else worth going to around read more

Came in and checked the menu in the lobby. After figuring it out (the menu is a little complicated) we were sat and waited for over 10 minutes for someone to ask us our drink order. We ask for just water and another 5 minutes goes by and noone comes back. After about 20 minutes of just waiting we just left. Place looked nice though! read more
