The Timucua Arts Foundation is a true gem in Central Florida! I have visited Timucua twice! I saw a spoken-word performance by Lydia Lunch and Chaz Underriner's concert during the Timucua Arts' International Guitar Festival. The nonprofit organization is celebrating its 25-year anniversary! The cozy, concert hall is located in a home and nestled next to Boone High in the Lancaster Park neighborhood in south Orlando. The staff is friendly and provides a warm and inviting atmosphere to its guests!

Excellent venue for showcasing Orlando's upcoming talent. Perfect setting to accommodate a crowd but not intimidate the performers.

We went last night for a Live! Recording of The Greenjays and Friends. It was great! The atmosphere is nice and cozy and the acoustics are wonderful! They have a state of the art sound setup and are utilizing a unique technology from Holland. When you come in, they do offer wine and water for free. Patrons donate wine bottles and that's what the volunteers provide to the guests. All and all a great experience and we will be back. The Greenjays are a great local jazz band and I recommend checking them out.

This place was great!! Very intimate with the most amazing audio/video setup. I was fortunate enough to go with the management from a local news radio station and got the complete backstory of the building and how it came to be. The owner/designer of the venue walked us through the entire building process and got the inside scoop. It was an amazing experience to say the least. They started with a local artists film from the independent film festival and then went on to play through the lead jazz artists inspirational artists compositions. We entered the building/home and were immediately greeted with our choice of wine ( bring a bottle leave a bottle) it was very community oriented and the wine was from a guest prior to us. I had no idea what to expect but was very impressed. I definitely underestimated how amazing the venue/home would be. (It's a home turned venue) If you get a chance to go here do yourself the favor and do so.

How is it that I have never gone here before? What an exquisite gem of a venue! We arrived about ten minutes early, gave our wine and food to a staff member, and sat outside with charming lights and plants on the covered patio. On the way in we gratefully made our contribution in a jar by the door. Once inside we were immediately impressed with the beauty of the welcoming area. Jim Spence was an amazing guitarist and I could have listened to him all night. Lauren Heinz made me feel like a was sitting on a back porch on an Alabama summers day, drinking a Big Dipper of cool well water. Loved the intimate setting of this and will definitely go back again and again

5 Stars for an intimate arts venue, inside someone's house, that hosts incredible local and international musicians and actors. Most of the shows at The Timucua White House are free with a donation plus bring your own snacks/wine. You rarely need to buy your spot ahead of time, but the show I attended was with Grammy Award winning jazz flutist, Nestor Torres, so reservations were required and there was a long line of people waiting outside in case there were unclaimed seats. As you enter, you'll pass a dining room of sorts, where snacks and wine that guests bring is set up for the picking. Along side is the kitchen and through a set of doors you'll walk into a tall theater. Three narrow floors look down upon the stage and are accessible by a winding staircase. Each floor has a bathroom and the two top floors have space for a couple of small couches and some stools. All together I think they have room for 100 guests. The intimate setting, located inside a family's home, makes this space feel unique, special, and like something you feel compelled to support and protect. And one way to do that is to become a member. They were saying it costs $100/year and you get priority seating to their shows. Plus, it's a nonprofit arts organization so you can feel charitable while scoring great seats! So, go online. Check out the calendar. And pick up some snacks to share with your fellow local art/music loving Orlandoans!

I don't know how I have lived in the Orlando area for so long and never knew about this place - what a gem! First of all, I have to say it wasn't easy to find. And that's because I didn't realize it is a house that has been renovated to be an intimate venue for various arts events like concerts and artist presentations. It was night time so it was very dark. I drove past it the first time and noticed the beautiful lights around the house thinking "that's so pretty - they have their Christmas light up early". (It was beginning of November.) I'm not sure if they have the lights up year-round so just be aware that it's in a residential and is an actual house - it doesn't look like a business building. My GPS app navigated me to the back of the house, but the front of the house faces Boone High School. Thankfully, there were several people walking up to the venue so I just followed the people! There is limited parking along the street, but there is a city park near the house and we were instructed in an email that we could park there, which is what my friend and I did. Once you get to the house, you walk into beautiful and intimate surroundings. The concert I went to was not one that was put on by the Timucua Arts Foundation, but apparently they have intimate concerts and other events every week. They took our tickets at the front "lobby" which looked like a museum with beautiful displays. We were directed where to go and proceeded to the location where the concert was being held. The venue is literally the home owner's living room, albeit a very large and beautiful one! A small stage is up front with a large video monitor that I assumed used for some of the events. The venue room has balcony seating on the second floor and even a small amount of seating on a third level. But if you're afraid of heights, I suggest staying on ground level! The acoustics is professional and top notch and once the band started, it filled the room without being overpowering or deafening. The home owner, Benoit, welcomed us before the show started. He told us a little bit about the foundation and some of the upcoming events. They ask for a donation for admission and usually ask $10-20 depending on the venue. Its a non-profit and they do this to share their love of the arts. The types of performances vary and they range from jazz to Latino music, classical ensembles as well as live art performances where an artist paints to music. They don't have a liquor license, but guests are welcome to bring their own. There is beautiful art work on display throughout the entire home. Make sure to check out their website to see their calendar of events and learn more about them. I was pleasantly pleased with the whole venue and am so glad I finally discovered it! If you like music and the arts, you definitely need to check this place out!

Perfect place to watch live performances. Great date spot or night out with friends and best of all walking distance in Wadeview park/Delaney's neighborhood.

I seriously love how Orlando seems to have morphed into this amazing, interesting city with experiences you'd expect in major metros like NY or LA, but instead are happening in suburban Orlando! I had heard of the Timucua Arts Foundation thru an event the Orlando Sentinel newspaper had listed and had been wanting to go check them out for a while. So was stocked as a newsletter subscriber to get x2 gratis tickets to check out the pianist Jenny Lin whose repertoire includes stints working with Philip Glass, a modern composer whose haunting compositions I was introduced to with the movie, "The Hours." Parking was easy to find, just down the street at Wadeview Park, and then my mum and I made our way to this event space/ house. And it really is the founder, Benoit Glazer and his family's house! They built a purpose built concert space in their living room and so the feel is intimate and immediate to the artist and of course, the acoustics are simply fantastic! They ask that you bring food to share, and so I got a cheese platter with crackers which was put on the table in the lobby - I saw plenty of dips, a couple of salads and a lovely veg lasagne plus Punch too! The Glazer family supply the utensils, plates, glasses, etc. The seating is a mix of chairs, benches and bar tables on the main floor, and there is a smallish spiral staircase which leads up to the balcony, where you get a great view if playing technique is what you are after. I got chatting to the folks sitting next to me and discovered they were music theory and instruments majors at UCF, so it was interested mix of crowd including some young'uns to their grand-parents! Re: the concert itself, I found some pieces more interesting than others, but what really stood out for me, was when Jenny Lin explained more about the pieces she was playing. Overall, just a fantastic evening out, listening to beautiful classical music compositions. Yelp 155/ 2018

This performing arts venue is a treasure. Featuring world class musicians in an intimate setting. The room has the best acoustics due to the walls, floor, and ceiling made of wood, except for the brick behind the stage. Love the philosophy of the owners, especially sharing their home to bring in great artists. Check out their website for future events and do yourself a favor by attending one of the diverse concerts.

I mean, what can I say about this place that hasn't already been said. It's amazing, it's a great cause, you get to see musicians you may never otherwise have a chance to see, very intimate performances, it's perfect. My mom said it reminds her very much of growing up in Peru where some of her extended family (who were musicians) would open their house Sunday evenings to musicians, artists, poets, political activists, etc. of the time (60's) and there strangers became friends and people would create music and art and it created a special energy. Definitely take a bottle of wine and ideally something to munch on to contribute to the potluck. Members get in early and have special pricing and other perks, so it's worth it if you think you'll go somewhat regularly and you want to support the arts. Arrive early, because although you'll be waiting in line for a bit, it'll be a lot easier to find a space for you and your date. Tip: drop off your wine and go grab a seat and leave your stuff in it first and then go get wine and food and mingle. Although, if you see me there, go ahead and take your time before getting a seat....

I've been wanting to check out Judson's for a while, but mistakenly walked in after a show at the Dr Philips Center and thought I could just grab a drink and pop in for some jazz. This spot requires reservations and tickets to watch their rotating shows of local and international performances. This time we were armed with tickets we got on their website, and we even got to choose our seats ahead of time. There's a beautiful bar at one end, a stage, and round tables ranging from 2-4 seats. They have a food and beverage menu, but expect smaller dishes rather than a full meal. We got the cheese and charcuterie board and enjoyed it thoroughly throughout the show. The prices are stiff, but the venue warrants it. And feeling like you're supporting an incredible venue while having a great night out is a real treat. We're lucky to have this intimate, state of the art venue for jazz music in downtown Orlando.

We attended An Evening with Tymisha Harris: Josephine, A Burlesque Cabaret Dream Play, with special guest Matthew Lynxwiler. Tymisha Harris was absolutely stunning, gorgeous, stylish, incredibly talented, and full of energy. She captivated the audience from the moment she stepped on stage until the final curtain. Matthew Lynxwiler was equally impressive, showcasing exceptional musical talent that complemented the performance beautifully. The venue itself isn't large, but that's part of its charm. It's cozy, elegant, and has a sophisticated atmosphere that's perfect for a grown-up night out. Once seated, we were given menus and ordered a Spicy Margarita and a Lemon Drop, both of which were enjoyable. For appetizers and entrées, we tried the French Onion Meatballs, Classic Beef Sliders, and Caribbean Tostones. The meat dishes were flavorful and well prepared, but the tostones weren't our favorite. Overall, we had a fantastic evening and left thoroughly entertained. Between the outstanding performances by Ms. Harris, the inviting atmosphere, mostly good food and drinks, Judson's Live delivered a wonderful experience. We definitely weren't disappointed and would happily return for another show.

There aren't many places where you can consistently enjoy live jazz, great food, and a cozy atmosphere all in one place. I visited on a Saturday during Magical Dining and tried their three-course menu for $40. I ordered the Crab Bites as my starter, the Chicken Pasta for my entrée, and the Bread Pudding for dessert. Everything was really good, but the Crab Bites were easily my favorite! I was pleasantly surprised by how delicious they were. If you're an Orlando native, you may remember how small Jazz Tastings used to be. They've since doubled in size and updated their menu, moving away from their previous tapas-style offerings to full-size entrées. The space still has that intimate, cozy feel, though, which makes it an amazing date-night spot. Of course, the live music is the highlight. The band was great, and I love that Jazz Tastings keeps a calendar of upcoming performers and events, so you can plan your visit around who you'd like to see. A couple of things to know before going: weekends can get busy, so reservations are highly recommended unless you're able to arrive really early. They also charge automatic gratuity on weekends, along with an additional service fee on Fridays and Saturdays, so just keep that in mind when planning your visit. Overall, Jazz Tastings is a great choice for a date night or a relaxed night out with friends, especially if you want to hear some talented local artists while enjoying good food and drinks. A place to go with friends where we can still hear each other talk, have drinks and of course listen to Jazz. Orlando has so many genres or music and experiences, however, Jazz was a missing piece. We came early and were greeted by the venue manager who was amazing. He explained that each table has a QR Code where you can order a Pizza from the new pizza place downstairs that replaced the Robinson Coffee shop. This really came in handy as we got lost in the vibe, were hungry but didn't want to leave. The pizza was a super thin crust, quality pepperoni, and just overall really hit the spot. For drinks, they have a happy hour Thursday - Sunday from 7pm-10pm with half off all of their cocktails. My choice was the Tequila Mockingbird, a playful play on words for the book "To Kill A Mockingbird". It's Tequila, Aperol, Passionfruit, Lemon and Vanilla. Incredibly tasty and dangerous because it goes down so easy. We had an amazing evening with friends, talking, laughing and celebrating my husband for his birthday. I went on a Saturday night, but the experience was very different from what I expected. The music was more in the style of 1920s/1930s traditional jazz--slower, classic, and more suited as background ambiance rather than something you'd sing or dance along to. It wasn't the modern, upbeat, or R&B-infused jazz vibe I had anticipated, so for me, it fell flat in terms of energy. The aesthetic, though, is stunning. The space feels like a speakeasy, complete with a hidden bookshelf entrance, and the decor is unique and perfect for Instagrammable moments. It's definitely a place where you could get some amazing photos, and I'd honestly consider coming back during the day for a shoot. Service-wise, my experience was mixed. We waited at the bar for a while with no acknowledgment from the male bartender, even as he poured drinks right in front of us. It wasn't until we moved to the other side where the female bartender immediately greeted us and kindly said she'd be right with us. I really appreciated her hospitality, but it did leave a sour taste that we were ignored at first. Overall, if you're looking for a lively night out with interactive music you can vibe with, this may not be the spot. But if you enjoy classic 1920s jazz in a beautifully designed space--or if you're looking for a unique backdrop for photos--then Phoenix Jazz Club might be worth checking out.
