Timmy Chan's is truly a cultural icon for us! We were coming back home after traveling and didn't have a clue what to eat. We knew we wanted chicken and knew we didn't want to spend a fortune. Also wanted quick. Since we were near the original location being at the airport, went in to map the location and remembered there was one near us. We got there and went through the drive through. It was a long line but they were so fast. The inside closes at dark I believe but we didn't want to go inside anyway. We got chicken drumsticks with rice, wings and shrimp fried rice. Also a side of gravy. We got sweet and sour and soy sauce included. Other sauces are extra. I will get full wings next time but the lemon pepper wings were excellent and cooked to perfection. Needless to say everything was piping hot, hit the spot and we had a whole meal the next day for each of us. We spent 44.00 for 2 meals for 3 adults. Where else but Timmy Chan's. The shrimp was the size of pinky toe and the same pink color and nasty taste as the the cheapest grossest hotdog. we ended up spending $25 dollar on 2 plates just to get home and open the food an just staired at each other. My boyfriend was brave enough to try one small bite cause he felt bad wasting all that food an he spent 5 minutes trying to spit the taste out of his mouth and then felt sick within minutes. He said the little bit of the RICE only that he ate had a thick greacy film on it that go stuck to his mouth an he confirmed that it tasted like extremely low quality hot dogs. Timmy Chans is a hood classic. I used to live in this area back when I was a little girl and it always hits the spot. This isn't a trendy or upscale place. This isn't a place you'd take a first date. This is the kind of place you come with your friends to get your weekend to a start. You stop by Timmy's and get your grub on and head to your next stop either a liquor store or the gas station for drinks. Timmy Chans has become a part of a friend outing ritual of ours for years. The amount of people I've put on this place they should have a photo of me framed here. This place isn't in the nicest area so stick to the drive thru so you can just grab and go. I don't typically eat in. The main things you need here are wings (Buffalo specifically with extra sauce), fried biscuits, Eggrolls, and general joes of you are into mall style Chinese food and are craving it. Their wings are huge and they have generous portions here. The employees here have been working since I was a little girl. They are some of the most patient people I've ever met. Seriously some people can be so disrespectful and racist towards these workers and it's heart breaking. Support your local hood favorite. I only wish they'd bring back the Boudin Balls :( read more

I've been to many Timmy Chan's all over Houston and I have to say that although this location is looking kind of sketchy from the outside, the inside was surprisingly better looking than I expected. At least, it's a lot better looking than the Timmy Chan's that I frequent in the SW side of town on Bissonnet. The order counter has a partition glass (that I assume is bullet proof) which is a new for any Timmy Chan's that I've been to, but not surprising considering the area. If you've been to a Timmy Chan's before, then you know that their chicken wings are pretty awesome and this location is no exception. four piece wings + roll + rice will run you a little over $5 after tax which is super reasonable. Will definitely include TC's in my lunch rotation! read more

And we talked about why, can't you get a good cheap chicken meal other days of the week and we both were like we need to visit timmy chans! So when we were hungry today, we drove to the nearest location. I must say this is one of the cleanest locations I have ever visited. It is spotless in the dining area. The inside was actually quite cool. I had the wing and shrimp fried rice special. I added in one of their sweet kool-aids too. Their combo is so much food. I eat a lot and I could not finish it all. I tried this restaurant again to make sure if it was worth the bad reputation that I gave in the last review, and that apparently everyone is giving it. Few things to know: 1) I would highly recommend you to go through the drive thru at this restaurant, if you just want to get the food and get out. The inside of the restaurant does look pretty sketchy. 2) Get a Kool-Aid to go with your meal. They make it properly, with a lot of sugar, like your mammy used to make. 3) If you want good rice, get the rice that has the meat and the bean sprouts in it. It is much better than the rice served with the combos. Not 100% like I've had from other restaurants, but it will fill you up, and that's really what this restaurant does best, is fill hungry bellies. 3) Get a lot of sauce packets. For the fried rice, I really think it needs it, for seasoning and flavor. I still haven't had a lot on their menu, but I'd give Timmy Chan's a 3.5 out of 5. read more

What to do, what to do... thank goodness Timmy Chan's is open, and as a bonus you can buy vast amounts of fried food for almost no money. The prices are low, the building looks sketchy, and you might feel the need to lock your doors while waiting in the drive thru. But if you want to maximum amount of eggrolls and crab puffs you can get anywhere for $11, Timmy Chan's can't be beat. I think I got 8 eggrolls and 16 crab puffs, if I remember correctly. The quality isn't the best, but if greasy fried food is your end-goal, then Timmy Chan's will suffice. I wouldn't bring a date here, but to-go wasn't bad and the food was decent. We evacuated from Lake Charles to Houston for Hurricane Delta. Although I have heard of the infamyTimmy Chan's wings and rice I had never gotten a chance to try it. I ordered 3 chicken and rice dinners through ubereats. The order only took approximately 45 mins to arrive which was great considering the amount of people that evacuated.. But I digress.. the wings arrived hot, fresh and full of flavor. They were fried to a golden perfection. They were not too big and not too small. They did not skimp on the fried rice servings and provided enough shrimp and veggies for each mouthful. It is apparent why this establishment is legendary. You still get a huge amount for cheap and the chicken tenders are the size of raquet ball raquets!! Went in today and ordered pepper steak and got mainly onions and bell peppers. The meat i did get was cooked badly and was uneatable due to all the fat and gristle in it. It was so bad that they didn't even slice thru the steak like normal. On a bright note, the egg rolls were very good. read more

This place was found by accident one day by my dad when I said I wanted Chinese food take out. I got Shrimp Fried Rice for the first time from here, WOW! Huuuuge portions! It was more then enough for me, my mom & dad to share just 1 plate. I recently got the Mongolian Beef and wow! Just like last time, big portions! I highly recommend this specific location. I've been going to this location for about two years now. My original location was on West Bellfort near Fondren. In my opinion this location does not compare to the Fondren and west Bellfort location. However, it is still a good eat. I recommend any version of their rice my favorite being the combination. Timmy Chans regardless of the location always has excellent fried chicken. This location does have a great General Tso's chicken as well as a great sesame chicken. Hey!!!! I am so mad this is not right at all. I ordered a shrimp fried rice with beef and only egg and ask to double the egg!!! Waited for like 10 to 15 mins and my order was ready, before I left I checked my food to make sure it was right and of course it was not. So I politely asked the lady to make it over only egg no veggies. She said that's what I have I showed her the plate and she insisted it was that until I pulled up onions and bean sprouts like what is this. Only egg please only egg. She took it to the back and came out 5 mins later with my plate. I literally looked at it and seen nothing wrong OOHHHH BUT when I got home it was a trick they got over on me. Why did they put fresh rice on top and left the bottom half like it was, I was still pulling out onions and onions and bean sprouts. I am definitely taking this but I want my money back the beef was dry as hell and I paid for extra eggs I expect to see a lot of it.
