This place was cool. It wasn't too bad. I heard about it after trying Chicken Burgers and More when someone told me this was the original location. The chicken pretty much tasted the same. I went about an hour before they closed, and they only had certain pieces of chicken left,the line was really long. It took a while to get the food, but the service wasn't too bad. They were also out of Kool-Aid, and they didn't have any sides, but they were about to close. I'm going to try and make this a loving review. If you LOVE some good down south fried chicken...this is your go to place. It's not dine in and no drive through. So you have to go in and get your order. The lines are usually pretty long and the inside is fairly small, like a hole in the wall...but the chicken is literally being fried up every few minutes. Now...the customer service SUCKS big time. The few times I've went, the kinda heavy set dark complexion chick has always been the rudest. I went on the 24th of Dec 2024 at around ummm...4:30ish pm and I literally was in line behind 4 people. When it was my turn, I got to the counter and she walked smooth off. Didn't say hold on or nothing. Then she began prepping about 9 drinks and bagging other people's food. No acknowledgement or anything. So the other young lady, kind of light skin, she saw how I was just standing there for awhile and was like..."hey babes, what did you wanna order". I told her and she was like "I'll make your order for you but the other girl is gonna ring you up tho". It was so bad the brother behind me walked to the counter and offered her like 30 dollars just to get a 4 piece and fries so he could just bounce. I felt that. But when ol girl FINALLY came to ring me up, she was so bland, monotoned and offered no sorry for waiting or even acknowledgment. I will say the other young lady hooked me up. I ordered a 4 piece with rice n gravy and a pepper. Got to the car and I had 7 pieces of chicken with 2 rolls and like 5 peppers. So I ain't even mad. So if you're expecting great customer service and you know you're a person with a low tolerance for bad attitudes, don't come here. Visited Chicken plus Tuesday @1:15pm. Arrived and let's just say, lock all valuables in the car and hold your purse close. They were two men outside, one selling multiple items that I was not interested in, and looks like maybe a Hispanic older male who had a cell phone but were patronizing customers to give him money for food. Building was small on the inside and extremely old, dusty, no upkeep of cleanliness. I was next to order and ask the cashier about suggestion. She was extremely dry and no very helpful. I mentioned it was my first time and it went in one ear and out the other. I then ordered a 5 wing special with fries and kool aid. Food was decent. You only get ketchup with your fries. Food came out in about 6-7 minutes. Overall, food was okay. It's the risk you take with an establishment in the less monetized area. I waited 30+ minutes for a doordash pickup order and the ticket for the order was an hour old. They never made the food. It was the oldest ticket and they kept making new orders; ignoring my order! When I asked for an ETA again after waiting 25 minutes they told me I "might as well cancel the order" because they "have to make orders for everyone else here before I get to it" that's not how anyone should be running a business. I have known about Chicken Plus for years but when I moved to the southwest side I completely had forgotten about them. On this day last week I really wanted some good fried chicken and I said oh I'm going to Chicken Plus! Now when you walk in don't expect anything fancy because this is a hood spot! It has been here for years. I am giving them 4 starts because they are not very friendly when handling customers and maybe they don't care to because people will continue to patronize this establishment. I didn't want fake chicken like the other places I wanted some real seasoned fried chicken. I ordered the 6 piece wing dinner with fries and a large kook-aid which I call hood-aid. Only cost me $11 dollars. When I tell you this chicken is seasoned so well that you don't need to add any salt at all. I mean seasoned down to the meat as if they brine the chicken and so crispy. Every bite has a crunch. What I really liked was that the chicken was not huge and the size of my hand it was small and seemed to be fresh! I really hope it was fresh because it Aires tasted like it. The fries were seasoned good and it also came with a roll. Whenever you go there, make sure to get the nook-aid. Oh my goodness it was so good! Just thinking about it makes we want to go today. I must say, Hole in the wall spots are always the best ! I was told their chicken was good and it truly was. I had 6 wings, rice, sausage and beans, and a strawberry cake . I was truly satisfied . The customer service was great ... it was like being in your grandmother's kitchen ! The people were very authentic .
