We were seated outside for dinner, when we noticed mice running around outside on the patio right under our feet. Of course we jumped up and moved, our waitress noticed them also. We told the manager/owner , he didn't care. He stated it was our fault because we chose to sit outside! We could not believe it! He refused to comp our meals. We notified the health department and they did an inspection and fined them. Apparently this was the third complaint. Inspector is scheduled to go back in 7 days. Your average diner. My mom and dad invited us for breakfast at Time Square Diner. Decorated with images of New York during the 50's give this place that wow factor. Unfortunately that's about it, I ordered the breakfast burrito which it was probably the best of the rest of the dishes, nice quantity of bacon, fresh veggies and the portion was more than generous. My wife ordered the French toast with a side of ham, mom ordered pancakes and my dad ordered the original Benedict. We had our nephews with so all she wanted was a slice of Strawberry Cake which by the way was 7.99(a little bit pricey for a slice of cake) The service was good, food just average I don't think I would go out of my way to go back. 3 stars are basically for their good service and because the food wasn't bad, but wasn't great either. read more

I came here for breakfast with my brother and sister and was very... underwhelmed. I'd come to this restaurant before, when it was named something else (...this was like 4 years ago and I can't remember what...,) so I can certainly say the place looks much better, both inside and outside. The decor is really lovely (which is hard to find in Melbourne, to be honest.) Our waitress was incredibly nice when taking our orders--she answered all of our questions enthusiastically, even though it was quite early in the morning. However, when my brother noticed and asked about the $3 sharing charge after we had ordered, the waitstaff kept an eerily close eye on our table. I personally ordered the Potato Pancakes, which came with Sour Cream and Applesauce. They were very... mediocre--bland, dry, and crumbly. There wasn't much flavor, and I had to borrow a lot of my brother's brown sugar from his oatmeal (only when the waitstaff wasn't WATCHING US LIKE HAWKS for sharing something as insignificant as sugar!) to make the applesauce / latkes taste decent. My sister ordered a bagel with cream cheese, only to get a burnt bagel with a very scant amount of cream cheese as well... the decent prices we paid for the food would have been well worth the portion size, if only the food was palatable. Overall, Time Square Diner has the chance to really be a gem in Melbourne due to its ambiance, especially with the lack of good breakfast/brunch places in the town. They just need to substantially increase the quality of their food, and not make their customers uncomfortable. With a rival like D.I.G. right across the street, hopefully competition will make this happen. read more

We went back to this great place for the first time since Covid hit mainly because of the outdoor seating. I was so impressed I would encourage other vulnerable diners to follow my lead. Not only was protocol followed to protect us but the food was fantastic. They have dish called the Athena that is amazing. Jumbo shrimp lightly floured in a sauce with hints of lemon and cheese served with garlic bread with cheese that is broiled. You can have it as an appetizer or a meal but for most appetites the appetizer is plenty for $13.50. My husband went with one of the plentiful deli sandwiches. If you want to get out of the house for dinner try to come at a time when getting one of the 4 outside tables won't be too difficult. All staff were wearing masks at all times! read more

I think this is the worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant in my life. We were a party of about 10 and it started with a waiter and waitress disagreeing on how they were going to split the table up, and they never came out at the same time to discuss it so it was confusing for our party. Then when we ordered 3 our our groups meals NEVER CAME! Some people food came out 2 seconds after ordering and everyone finished eating by the time the waiters even acknowledged there was food missing (because we told them) and to that they responded it will be right out. After waiting 10 more minutes, 2 people got their food as to go,because everyone was done eating already and they didn't want to eat there anymore. One plate still never came! They never put it in correctly and then made excuses, never once apologizing. Then we asked to speak to the owner multiple times and it took another 10 minutes for him to even acknowledge us, to which he made excuses and asked us to just give them another chance. This is not the first time they provide subpar service and our group won't be going back to this establishment! Side note, when getting mimosas you used to get a small bottle of champagne with your orange juice and half our table did and the other half they said they "poured it inside" however it's clear that you ended up getting less this way. I just think they should be consistent and not ripping some people off. read more

However, because I grew up with so many transplanted New Yorkers, people seem to think I am from there. I have only been to New York City one time in my life. It was in 1986. My father took me to the Carnegie Deli. I was floored by the monster sandwich I received. So, when I noticed on the menu of Times Square Diner, "Carnegie" style, my eyes rolled back in my head. It turns out the cacography of this statement was false and the plaintive reason this is 4.5 stars instead of 5. The meal I was served was amazing and I highly recommend it to my followers. I will say this, my server Caitlin, was unfocused and not dedicated to her work the morning I dined here. If I was the type of reviewer who penalized a restaurant for service they would have lost a star solely for her uninspired and quite frankly poor service. As everyone knows the Big Boy is all about the meal. I ordered the beef brisket sandwich. The brisket was so tender, juicy and flavorful my mouth is actually watering as I write this. It was served with a potato latke that while slightly overcooked was delicious. What separates the men from the boys on the restaurant business are the side dishes. It takes time and energy to hand make side dishes. It's easier to call Sysco and say hey let me have that five gallon drum of disgusting cole slaw for $4.99 that serves 100 than buy the ingredients and make it. Well, Times Square makes their own slaw and their own pasta salad. The slaw had a tang to it that was a joy. The pasta salad was made with green tomatoes rolled in. It was truly divine. I took a tuna melt sandwich with me to go. I ate it for lunch. It stood up. It has fresh large chunks of tuna properly mixed and seasoned. The Big Boy says try it. read more

Waiter seemed anxious for us to choose our orders, before any meals came out I was served my $5.10 side plate of fries and they were burnt crispy to say the least, cooked dry inside. My wife's side salad came out with wilted decaying cucumber. My daughter's French toast had a piece of parchment paper or a butter wrapper in it, halfway through she found it. I had the Italian sausage sandwich and it was good. I did not get a refill nor asked for a refill entire meal as no one came to ask how is everything. After eating the waiter came out I notified him about the paper in the French toast and they took that plate off of the check to make it right . Overall the portions were good, but whoever is plating the food doesn't have a clue or a care for what they are serving to the table. I decided to take my family to lunch today, 12-28-2022, at Times Square Diner. First, the good part of the review. Our waitress Victoria was extremely pleasant and professional. My mother, my wife and I, three senior citizens, put our order in and were awaiting our food, which we know to be excellent after having dined at this establishment numerous times in the past. Next, the not so good part of the review. Another waitress whose name I was told is Autumn, began sweeping the floor right next to a table where other people were dining. As she approached a long strip rug covering part of the tile floor, she began sweeping much harder and much more aggressively to sweep the dirt out of the carpet. This created a lot of airborne dust. I politely asked our waitress, Victoria, if she could make sure that the sweeping stopped before it got too close to our table. Not only is it disgusting when food is present but, for me, the dust is a health hazard, as I have breathing issues due to a serious lung condition. I motioned to the sweeping waitress to please temporarily stop sweeping the floor, by gently waving my hand and shaking my head, trying to be as subtle as possible. After she questioned my non verbal communication, I was forced to verbally ask her if she could please stop sweeping while we were sitting there. She angrily responded that "her shift was ending soon and her manager told her to sweep the floor." I further clarified my request and informed her that the dust is bothering us and could she please resume sweeping the floor after we finish eating. Again, she firmly stated that she would not stop sweeping because she had to complete this before her shift ended. After a short exchange of words, this waitress spent the rest of the time, while we were in the restaurant, talking about us to the other employees. She spoke loudly enough for us to hear her and she even spoke with an employee whom I believe to be the manager, who took no action at all. By the way, the rude waitresses shift didn't "end soon" as she told us. To top it all off, after we left and were seated in our car, this obnoxious waitress came over to the window, next to the table where we were seated, and began sarcastically waving to us with both arms extended over her head and childishly blowing us kisses. I have never experienced this total lack of respect from a waitress, or anyone for that matter, in the restaurant industry! Even my mother stated that "she sure is a smart a**." We have close family friends that are restaurant owners in a neighboring town who would not only be aghast at this behavior, but never allow it in their place of business! Needless to say, we will not be returning to this establishment. At least, not while this totally disrespectful, rude and obnoxious server, is still employed there. read more

Stopped in for a bite to eat before shooting pool with a friend. Thought the menu was a bit expensive to start and not much in vegetarian options- not sure why that is in this day and age that everything has to be cooked with meat. Ordered a glass of water and the water made me gag. I mentioned it nicely to the waiter and he seemed annoyed with me- asked if I wanted anything else- he suggested club soda- which when arrived- tasted off from the ice cubes but wasnt going to go any further with this one, as this is a recurring issue with many of the local restaurants. My friend said nothing about this- I thought she'd been sipping her water -but after she started eating and then took a drink, she gagged too. She called the waiter over and he gushed, profusely apologized and went to get the mgr/owner and kind of made a big deal out if it when she asked...weird huh?. The mgt graced her/us with a bottle of mineral water, which was gracious and we polished that off there. Would have purchased bottled water had we known. So a bit pricey, good food-tho not many vegetarian options, good portions, really bad, lousy water- pretty much sounds like the New York diner experience! read more

Always see it and finally crossed it off our bucket list this past weekend. Very small and quaint but the food was really good. There is a wonderful dessert fridge with a lot of amazing cakes and pies. We ordered pesto cream tortellini and a sandwich platter for dinner and shared a large piece of strawberry shortcake that we took home because we were stuffed. Next day leftovers were amazing and that cake we had two hours after we got home was delicious and we were cursing ourselves that we only took one piece and not two like we were thinking and going back and forth on. If you've spent anytime in the NYC Metro area then you're going to feel right at home here. Firstly, service is friendly, fast & efficient. For lunch, I ordered a Rueben sandwich. What came out of the kitchen was a creation of near Katzian proportions! It was delicious, but so big I could only eat a half (the rest went home and was the next day's lunch). We have been here often, both when it was Suntree Diner and in its new form as Time Square Diner. It's a great breakfast place, but we had a terrible dinner experience on February 5th. We had to wait when we got there. We were told 20 to 25 minutes. I understand that; we were a little late getting there and diners had to finish up their meals. When we were finally seated, over a half hour later, it was as if we disappeared! Wait staff bustled about, but no one paid any attention to us. We finally flagged a waitress down and she promised to get our drinks and let our waiter know. It was another fifteen minutes until we got our drinks, and the waiter never made it to our table. We could see him yakking it up with other customers while we sat there idle. After another half hour had passed, we had enough. We left and went to Tuscany Grill where we got great service and a great meal. We'll never go there for dinner again!! read more

I recently recommended this place to a neighbor who was looking for a good option for dinner. They're in their 70's and don't want to dine in due to COVID-19. They called to order dinner for delivery, as noted in the big sign posted along Wickham Rd. The person answering refused their order, stating it has to be over $50 for delivery and rudely hung up. In a world when you can get delivery from McDonald's, Wendy's and just about every other nearby restaurant what's going on? The last time I dined in there were only 3 other customers and the phone wasn't ringing for takeout. I'm wondering why I should bother supporting this place if the owners don't care about their own business or serving customers. Hopefully they'll get a clue and be more accommodating. read more

The beautiful plants surrounding the restaurant are amazing. The rest of the menu is fantastic but call an ask when the Victorian Seaford Basket is available.
