I am sorry, but 17 bucks for a cheeseburger combo? I will pay it if it is an amazing combo, but unfortunately, it is not. The burger is 'fine' and the fries...dude, I think they gave us a small handful of fries. Didn't even fill the white paper bag that they came in. C'mon, I was hoping for an overfilled bag, with at least a few fries lingering at the bottom of the brown paper bag (don't you love finding those at the end of a meal). I'm always there buying the teriyaki plate and their Avocado bacon cheeseburger. I went today and the girl in the evening shift over priced me for the combo. I usually pay $13+ change. This girl charged me $2 extra for avocado and $2 extra for bacon when the combo comes with both already. I ended up paying $17+ change for the combo. I know it was not correct. Went here recently for the first time; March 2024. I had the Spanish Omelette (no cheese), sourdough toast with some hot tea and my partner had the #1 Breakfast Special with sausage, wheat toast and a decaf coffee. I loved everything about my plate. Unfortunately he didn't enjoy his coffee or the sausages. The space is roomy with tables in the middle and spacious booths all around. There was a good steady amount of patrons for a Sunday morning but not overwhelming thankfully. Parking was limited. Service was awesome. We had our food walked up to us instead of having to pick it up ourselves at the counter. One of the ladies even came up and asked if everything was ok and helped to clear our table. This little restaurant is my go to whenever I'm in town. I grew up here in Downey and I lived across the street so for the last 25 years I've appreciated the fresh food and economic prices. This place was a surprising find for me. I lived so close to this place, but never gave it a chance because I don't travel to this part of Downey. I think I stopped by here on the way to the Promenade at Downey. The little mom & pop diner is in a very remote little area with one way entrance/exit to their private parking lot. The only thing I would recommend getting is their double cheese burger that is more luxe than a Big Mac. Like the Mickey D's version, it got a sesame bun, but a more fulfilling patties and cheese between the buns. As I pointed out, it's a very remote place situated around residential area and a high school. However, it seemed to draw a tons of locals who love their burgers and fries.
