It's very welcoming and because of the number of golf and social events it's easy to meet other members. But what makes Lakelands special is the staff. They work hard at keeping the club professional but relaxed and offering up good food, drink, golf and an environment that feels like an oasis from the daily grind. The golf course is almost always in wonderful shape despite a good amount of play and while it's short it is an excellent track for match play or to work on shots you don't find at other courses. Almost every hole has multiple options for how to play it to accommodate any caliber of play.

Their offer of compensation to 'show how important our business is'.... one (1) round for a 4-some with a cart and lunch for scheduling a bigger outing instead of honoring their original commitment. Instead of shifting when the larger outing started, we're only seven (7) tee times, they simply cancelled ours. I work at another course and I know that a 144 person outing doesn't just pop up three (3) days before the outing. They knew for quite some time. That really sucks. We decided on going to a different course instead of taking their offer to push it back 2 weeks because many could not make the rescheduled offer, and quite honestly, don't want to give Moose Ridge our money for treating us so poorly. I understand that they are a business, but treating (potential) customers like that is not good business in the long run. They have lost repeat customers, some already repeat customers, for life.

Banquet food has the potential to be bland and boring, but Fox Hills delivered resturant quality food that I would happily order again. Everything was set up at the desired time and the staff made it seamless, so as not to disturb our meeting. You can tell that they do a lot of banquets and have the details dialed in. Value: I priced out options from a few area venues before choosing Fox Hills. The menu of options and food are straightforward and good value. It's not cheap, but the quality for money made it a good fit for me. Not having for worry about separate vendors and invoices made it simple. I've planned a fair number of large events, and this is a bigger deal than most newbies think. Atmosphere: The venue is classy enough to host a formal reception and comfortable enough for business casual. I felt comfortable having my group of business owners use all of the facilities. The view from the rooms is beautiful. Golf: With multiple courses to choose from, this really makes Fox Hills stand out compared to the local completion. There is a scenic course for every skill level. Overall: I've hosted events at multiple venues, including Top Golf. While I've had good experiences elsewhere, Fox Hills checks a lot of boxes and I would recommend them to a friend. (The food is way better than Top Golf and I know a lot of people think Top Golf is pretty good) One local competitor, Saint John's, is undergoing a massive overhaul and rebranding. Signage was very accurate and it was simple to find the elevator that leads down to iron golf inside the Cambria. At the front desk we met Bob, the manager. He was delightful to meet! Very genuine and naturally down to earth. I thought we had arrived during happy hour since that's what it said online, but apparently that's not for all locations. The website is not Detroit location specific. So that was a little disappointing but that didn't ruin our time. Cameron was very helpful with getting us set up, especially since it was our first time trying this type of golfing experience. Chris was absolutely fantastic in assisting with golf club selection, tips on how to swing, where to stand, and just full of useful knowledge to really make the competition real. Loved his fun personality as well. We really liked having him around. If it was up to me I would've had him stay in our section the whole time and play with us. We even ended up ordering a drink and an apple ice-cream treat to snack on. With all that combined, it truly was a really fun and enjoyable time.

Extremely Disappointing Experience! Poor management and inconsistent standards. This was hands down…read morethe worst golf course experience I've ever had. From start to finish, we were essentially shadowed by the course ranger (picture attached), who approached us four separate times accusing us of slow play, despite us doing everything we could to keep pace. We immediately allowed a single player behind us to play through. When asked, we also let a scramble group behind us pass... even though scramble formats typically understand there will be occasional waiting. Yes, we had 5 players (we paid for all 5) but to avoid slowing anyone down, only 3/4 of us played each hole. Two of our newer players only played two holes each total, again, to keep up the pace of play. We explained this to the ranger multiple times. He didn't care. Instead, on the 8th hole, he told us that management wanted us to split up for the 9th hole. Of course we agreed but that made no sense and actually slowed us down more than our original system. The part that really highlighted the inconsistency: while we were being micromanaged for simply playing respectfully, we also witnessed a grown man screaming obscenities at the top of his lungs and throwing his club repeatedly. There were kids on the course, yet the ranger seemed completely unbothered by that behavior. In short, we did everything right, let others play through, limited how many of us were hitting, and prioritized pace of play. But we were still treated like a problem, while actual disruptive behavior went unchecked. We won't be returning, and I wouldn't recommend this course to anyone who values respectful play and fair treatment.
