Food is crazy expensive, people wont let you pass but go slow as crap, each fairway is too close together people will try to argue with you or fight over whos ball is whos, every sand trap is like a 10ft wall of dirt so you almost take your head off half the time, seems like a bunch or rich snobs so i stopped wasting my money. read more

It would be great except for annually increasing the pricing. If you want to play it on the weekend the advertised rate is $80 which is about $20 too high. Nice course but it has some very unfair holes, 2, 9 and 16 come to mind. Most of my friends shy away from playing there so we quit booking times there do to cost and playability. This course is gorgeous and challenging the course itself is 5 star but the price is egregious 92 dollars priced all day even during twilight periods is madness. This course is not worth the price when you have carts that lock you out leaving you to reverse for 5 minutes constantly telling you you are in a restricted area even though you are in the middle of the fairway. I wish this place cared more for the customer and priced it reasonably. For the money definitely go elsewhere. read more

I loved this golf course. But management clearly doesn't understand business. Stopped in on a Wednesday afternoon didn't think much about. Was told go ahead and grab lunch and we'll get you out in 20 minutes. Perfect. What they failed to mention it was going to be a 5-5 1/2 hour round of golf. Had they mentioned that I would have played 9, so after 2 hour and 40 minute 9 I asked for a rain check. To which the rudest manager I've ever seen in golf said absolutely not. You have time to finish. I'm sorry but not everyone wants to blindly commit 6-7 hours to being at the golf course. I have played all over the country and have been issued 9 hole rain checks at every course i have asked. Because a smart business manager knows that the money is made after the people are there. I bought lunch and multiple drinks there but I will gladly take my money elsewhere. read more

Got up early and got to the course early to get warmed up. I knew it was a tough course so I wanted to be ready. Got my range balls and went to range. I hit one ball and then J came up and said I cant hit any more of my range balls because they have to mow range. So much for customer service. Mow the range before sun up like most decent courses. So now Im irritated and the first 4 holes are my warmups. It didnt go well. Carts are annoying. Not a good experience Initial impression. IMO great course, badly managed. I wont be back. read more

worst pace of play ever. other golfers don't know how to golf and hold you up for a 3 hour round to get in 9

2 plus years after not renewing our membership because of the egregious price increase. We decided to play the course again because it's challenging and 500 yards from our house. What we expected was exactly what we got!! A starter who had no idea about the flow of golf that was happening and didn't care to influence the quality of play. There is no ranger attempting to keep up the pace for their guests. We started behind a twosome who was behind a foursome. And a foursome in front of that foursome. So we knew it was going to be somewhat slow. By the 4th hole the first foursome ahead of us was already a hole behind drinking and scouring for balls. Keep in mind it was before 10am. It got worse from there. By the time we made the turn this 4some was 2 holes plus holes behind and the starter would not let us jump ahead because he had no clue that the problem group was delaying the pace of play. As a result I gave up after we reached the 5 hour mark. This was not a weekend and it's wasn't a big crowd. Just BAD management and the reason the they continue to get poor reviews read more

Been on this course twice now . Once during Covid and the other 2 days ago. The course is absolutely amazing the layout and views even better . But the carts that's a whole different story. Both times the carts were the worst , GPS carts that tell you to get on cart path when your already on the path. More then 10 plus times I had to drive backwards to my ball. I told pro shop about the issue and they knew everything that was going on and didn't really care about the issue . Unfortunately I will never be back even if I had a free round to play here. Then to top it off make the turn at 10ish and ask for a hotdog and they looked at me like I was out of line . Who doesn't have hotdogs ready to go on the golf course. read more

All I can really say is this course is great. I played it on a Friday late morning and there were all of six people on it, so really got to enjoy it at my pace, which was all of 3 hours for 18 holes. For a spring rate of $40, you can't beat it. However Summer jacks up to $68! By then, I'll only play if GolfNow has a discounted rate. It's s very up north feeling course in Lyon Township; a very rustic, hunting cabin feel, which is great. Decent patio overlooking a few holes and ok pricing on beer. The course itself does have some placement shots required and plays long or so it seems but it's fun and the gps in the carts is a great addition. I hope to return and play it again soon, before the price goes boom! read more

Course in tremendous condition. Fastest greens around. But... The carts GPS only allows you to enter the fairway at the 150 yard market. But there are several very long holes there and if you don't hit your drive past the 150 marker you must walk back to ball thus adding unnecessary time to the pace of play. Even on a few holes that the cart said leave cart path once you arrive to fairway, the cart shuts down! Whoever set the carts up this way needs to be fired! read more

We went today but neither the desk or starter did not inform us that cars weren't allowed on couse ! Needless to say my wife could golf but I couldn't play but a couple of holes !I have arthritis in both knees so I cant walk alot unless I take cart to my ball ! There was no reason for having no cars on couse-rhey were not soggy ! My wife complained tomanagwr after but all he said was "Sorry"! Great layout that's a challenge to navigate, fairways in good shape but the amount of ball marks left un-repaired on the greens is ridiculous, we tee'd off at 7:44 am and I repaired at least 3- 5 per green just to get a read on my put. Course maintenance on the tees could be better too. This place is overrated and overpriced for what it is; better courses to be played in surrounding areas.. read more

Just echo some of the other. Played here three times this year. Paid anywhere from 37 to 73(today). It's a beautiful course. The scenes are great. Course is in very good condition. Greens tend to be both fast and sloping. Some of te holes are very hard. The slope of 125 from blue tees. Is a good challenge. And like they say it plays hard. If you are. It great move up a tee. The staff has ranged from nice to really unpleasant. Restaurant staff is great. But yeah it's no fun to lay 73 dollars and and not feels even a little appreciated but such is life Beautiful fun course. read more

Bought a round of much-needed golf for my husband Saturday so he'd take a break from work. It's his busy season. I know he loves this course so I was going to buy the rounds online but he just said he'd take care of it himself. Here was his report: "So I played golf last Saturday at Moose Ridge. Checked in at pro shop and the guy says that will be $45 (owner's son). I said 'I played here 2 weeks ago and it was $37, did you give me the senior discount?' "We don't have discounts on weekends, you must have booked on Golfer.com" "No, we called and made tee time, and you made us give a credit card to hold the tee time, and it was a Saturday." "Well, it's still $45" he said. I paid the $45. I go outside and my golf partner arrives and goes in and pays. He comes out and I complain about the $45, and he says he paid $47!! He's 5 years younger than I am and not a senior. I'm so done with these guys." read more

What an absolutely beautiful golf course. What an absolutely difficult course. Bring plenty of balls. I didn't score well as very few holes were straight. If you don't know the course layout make sure you have someone with you that does. I liked the carts with GPS. I was here for the first time for a golf outing. I like the clubhouse atmosphere. Kind of feels like a log cabin. The staff was great for the outing. We had the beef in a wine sauce with red skin potatoes, salad, and bread. I enjoyed this after golf meal. read more

So I just played this course with 3 other buddies of mine on Monday morning (4-18-16) and it was amazing. Before I posted this I read all of the reviewers who've posted on their past experiences and was appalled at their reviews, so let me give you a slice of realistic reasoning... THIS COURSE GIVES YOU A DAMN WARNING AT THE FIRST TEE!!!! This course is very difficult and the slope is deceiving!! If you are a +15 handicap with NO range finder your a fool to play here and expect to shoot well and play fast!! So many weekend golfers have these tour quality egos that think they can play any course and shoot in the 80's at will, and that's moronic! We played about 20 minutes behind scheduled time but had NO problem letting smaller groups go forward (which added to our time) and not a Damn thing was said to us at the turn other than "enjoy yourselves fellas!" We played our asses off and shot very well scores. I myself shot an 81 my first time here and could've done better if I had a little course knowledge. The pin positions were tough on some holes where you HAD TO PLAY SMART!! If there's a slope that takes your ball if you miss short, then play long!! It's laughable to see people complain about the pin positions and the blind shots while ignoring ALL of the difficulty warning signs. Bottom line: This course is for golfers who can CONTROL THEIR GOLF BALL and/or those looking for a real challenge. Don't go on yelp crying about how tough and slow it is when you can't hit a fairway or a green. People know this course is very tough but don't understand and have no experience on how to play such courses. I myself knew what I was getting into and prepared myself for it resulting in a very solid round of golf at a very challenging course. I will be back here if I can get another deal like I received Monday for sure!! As for the rude staff?? The head pro gave us all yardage books and tips at the turn and was very cool. Played this course this past weekend for the first time , a week after the governor reopened the courses under certain criteria. First of all, the course is a difficult one to play, need a cart as it's difficult to walk and it's not for your average player. I'm a 18 handicap and found it to be over challenging which takes away from the enjoyment of the game. If you have a low handicap you may enjoy it more. More concerning is the ownership and management of the course. Being local I've heard of it's bad reputation and they certainly lived up to it. The Michigan Golf Assoc, published reopening guidelines consistent with the state's orders and I witnessed a blatant disregard of the social distancing guidelines and rules for reopening. I suspect they will be cited soon and maybe even shutdown if they continue as is. Unfortunately, this ruins it for other courses who abide by the rules and the concern for the safety of its customers. This is more of an owner oriented operation not a customer oriented one. If your looking for customer service go to one of the other great courses in the tri-county area. Although the terrain and layout of the course requires a cart they have very strict cart rules which have been commented on in previous negative reviews. I was a given an unprofessional "dressing down" by either the owner or manager (didn't identify themselves) for not following the instructions on the cart gps. I take some responsibility for it but when I told the gentleman that I was given a cart that didn't have a working gps he wouldn't let up. I've been playing golf for a long time and know customary cart rules and I really didn't do anything that terrible that would require such harsh and unprofessional behavior. A polite reprimand and offer to replace the cart with an operational gps,since they are so sensitive about, it would have suffice. I realized they really don't care if you play there or not. So, if your looking for an enjoyable experience at a fair price I would go to one of the other great courses in the area, almost too many to choose from. I certainly will never return to this course and will share my experience with as many of my fellow golfers as possible, not that owners of Moose Ridge care. Pass on this course and enjoy your day on one of the other local courses that appreciate your business. read more

if you spent more time keeping up your greens than worrying about having geo fencing on your golf carts, it would be a much better course. i ve never seen a golf course ruined by someone driving a golf cart where it should t be but I have seen a golf course in bad shape from lack of maintenance and this is just what's going on here. never be back. read more

The golf course average rating should easily be 4+ stars, not 3. The reasons behind the low star average (and areas that should be fixed) are the carts and pace of play. The carts are equipped with GPS and can be super sensitive - often warning you or even stopping the cart when you drive close to certain areas of the fairway and within certain distances from the greens, but often are unreasonable in these warnings. I had to drive in reverse a couple of times, but found it kind of amusing. Finding a solution to this would be in their best interest and could help the other common complaint, pace of play. The pace of play can be frustrating (but can happen anywhere), and this could make anyone want to leave a bad review, but this is certainly NOT a 3 star course by any stretch. Solving these two issues could easily boost their reviews to reflect the beautiful golf course. read more

This is a course you must play if you live in the metro Detroit area! Challenges on every hole. My next local comparison is Shepherds Hollow. My only complaint is no recognition for a "Hole in One". Every other course I have played has something...I'm just saying, a plaque with the basic details would be nice. For the record my first one came on # 9, 6/10/2018, from the blues with a 3 iron. Don't have your wedding here. The caterer told me that 140 people could be seated inside, but after my Dad went to see the place in-person, he estimated that only 60-70 people could fit comfortably. I live out of state, but my hometown is in this area. I was not able to get my deposit refunded, and I feel that I should have been refunded due to false advertising. read more

The 1 star is for the views. Sat there 10 mins and not even a glance from the waitstaff. There were empty tables so it wasn't over packed and plenty of staff for coverage. After 10 mins of waiting the power went out, we waited another 5 mins one waitress walked by we made eye contacted and smile and myself and my husband said hello.. and she didnt slow and blew right past us. I guess you have to be a regular there to get a glass because I saw waitresses giving hugs and laughing with people but new clientele does not seem to matter much to them. read more

The only reason I'm giving them a star is because it's a beautiful course but I am very disappointed at the way we were treated. We played here for a company outing with half experienced golfers half not. They never told us there was a time limit upon booking. Then we get started and the whole day we were rushed along to the point that people couldn't even finish eating their hotdog lunches and others were forced to skip holes because they were quote "behind." So all the sudden the company outing is being held to this very strict timeline. My colleagues were treated in ways that were not only disrespectful but rude. The day was hindered by bad customer service. I am very disappointed and we would never book here again. It may be beautiful but beauty isn't everything. That's for damn sure. Never again. Oh! To The Point: 1) Huge person checking in golfers was more interested in his own swing than checking me in. Another golfer asked him to take of me before continuing the conversation. Check in gorilla acted upset. 2) Pregnant cart girl almost smashes into me going around corner. Did not stop - kept flying by. Called office, no callback. 3) Ranger spent 45 minutes in bushes looking for golf balls. Was more interested in Pro V's than doing his job. 4) Mentioned issues to kid behind counter - he did not take his eyes off Tiger game to acknowledge me. 5) Another employee child responded to my comments and complaints with "that's how we roll here!" The course is beautiful, the staff is the rudest, immature not customer driven slackers I have ever had the misfortune to encounter. ADVICE: FIRE THEM ALL AND START OVER!!! read more

My husband and I were in the middle of eating our lunch when a worker from eradico extermination walked into the dining area at 1:45pm on Sat 6/25/16 and started spraying along the wall where it met the floor only 4 feet from our table. He started by us where we were sitting eating our food and continued spraying down the wall to the corner and then along the windows overlooking the golf course. We complained to the event coordinator and we expressed our concern and ask what they just sprayed and she informed us she would not know what was sprayed until he wrote up the work order. She never returned to our table so we did not finish our food or drink we paid (since we did not want to short our server Jordon because she did a great job) and then we left shocked that the restaurant would let the guy from eradico spray while there was food being eaten in the restaurant. read more

I have played golf for 35 years. This is by far the worst golf experience ever. We played 15 holes in less in 4 hours but were badgered by the staff for playing slow. We just quit and walked off. I would never ever play here again nor recommend this place to my worst enemies. What a waste of time and gas. I have to start by saying I have never been treated worse by any other business than Moose Ridge Golf Course. We had heard how beautiful the course is, so when I was able to make it out an play 18 I was very excited. However, when we arrived we were only greeted by rude employees and an unfair standard of time frame to finish 18 holes. My self being a GM of a well known reputable convenience store, would fire and employee for giving the same customer experience we received. We were so unhappy, we left on hole 16, where 2 different people came out to tell us that we needed to not only pick up the pace, but we were holding everybody up. This was false since the group behind us was 1 hole back. This was the 3rd time someone had come out to hurry us along with no explanation frr why. To make things worse, I went into the proshop to express my concerns with the experience I had, only to be met by a manager who had no concerns of my experience or anyone else's of that matter. The first question I asked was how long does a typical 4 some take to get through 18 holes. He replied 4.5 hours. So I asked why we were being harassed to finish 18 holes in 4 hours. He had no reply. Being extremely nice I expressed I would not be returning and that I would be leaving a review of my experience. He said, "Good" So here is my review. I would avoid this course. There are many other courses out there that understand that they are in business because customers come and spend there hard earn money on a service they can provide. read more

Great golf course a true hidden gem even tho its not that hidden. It gets pretty busy during peak time but enjoy the longer round with great views and a course in pristine condition. Very difficult i suggest playing forward tees unless unless a scratch player. Greens are fast and roll great. Cups could use the rings to hold the dirt. read more

Finally decided to eat @ Moose Ridge in order to taste their fish dinner. Delicious !! They use Oberon to lightly batter the fish. Enjoyed every forkful. AND it was AYCE on Fridays. They also have Perch & Whitefish in the AYCE specials. Our server, Malory, was attentive but not pushy. All the staff was friendly & helpful. The only down side was the fish pieces were very small & we had to continually ask for more. Didn't matter as it was prepared & served piping hot. The tartar sauce is made on site & packed with flavor. You will enjoy the view while eating as Moose Ridge is nestled on treed acreage. We also noted that they serve Kobe filets & sirloins. Came for their amazing fish fry tonight with a few of our friends. We had two different waitresses stop by to check on us and make sure we were being taken care of. The power ended up going out after we ordered, but we still got our food in a reasonable amount of time with how crazy it was. Cons: Designed for slow play... in the middle of nowhere... only one water stop per nine... too difficult for anyone with a double-digit handicap, which also contributes to slow play.
