Little touches like having your lobster cracked table side makes this a very pleasurable experience.

The management replied promptly and offered to bring us back for Mother's day. Four of us visited again for Mother's Day. (Not the whole brood) if you read my previous review, the following may make more sense. Smaller tables (including us) are sat in the dining room that features a beautiful large bar in the center. The bar seats many and is elevated from the dining room. The dining room has high windows that overlook the golf course, with a fireplace and is so much quieter. When passing through the buffet/large party room, to our table, it was a madhouse. Large tables, large families and lines of people at the food stations. The brunch at Polo Fields is popular. The food is excellent. The service was a marked improvement this visit. We saw the same waitress throughout our visit. Water and coffee was filled by an assistant that was on top of the refills in the room. We also enjoyed the drink specials available. Crepes, smoke salmon, salads, prime rib and ham, but don't forget the wall of desserts! This visit, there were always plates to be had and hot coffee in our cups. It was excellent food and a wonderful brunch experience. Our meal was comp but we paid for the drinks and my husband tipped her generously (~$40) as we would have if charged. When the mercury dips below 40 degrees in Michigan and I can no longer comfortably hit the links…read moreoutside, X-Golf in Saline is my 'go-to' golf simulator in the area. Located in the Emagine Theater strip mall on Michigan Ave. a couple of miles East of downtown Saline, it sports 4 of the latest simulators. I love that these simulators tee up your ball automatically...the only simulator that I've found in the area that does so. X-Golf also has a full bar and some bar snacks available although we usually walk right next door and snag some outstanding sushi from Biwako Sushi. We have always found the staff here to be extremely helpful in setting up the simulators to your choice from around 25 of the most storied courses in North America along with selected courses in Japan and Korea. I also noticed that X-Golf pipes in some great tunes on their house sound system as background music...Nothing like a solid 7-iron to the rhythm of a little 1989's Free Fallin' by Tom Petty. 4-stars.

My husband took me, as someone who has never played golf before in my life, to hit balls. We didn't need to prebook anything, just showed up, walked over to the driving range, used the self-serve machine to get a couple buckets of balls, walked over to an open spot, and that was that! It was a pretty crowded day (based on how many cars were in the parking lot), but the driving range wasn't crowded at all, so I'm guessing it usually isn't full. Easy to park in a large lot, there's food and drink on site in the clubhouse if you want it, and conveniently located just outside of town on the SW side of Ann Arbor. I'll be back!

Lakelands is a unique club. It has a lot of families who are second generation coupled with a lot…read moreof new-to-the-area people. It's very welcoming and because of the number of golf and social events it's easy to meet other members. But what makes Lakelands special is the staff. They work hard at keeping the club professional but relaxed and offering up good food, drink, golf and an environment that feels like an oasis from the daily grind. The golf course is almost always in wonderful shape despite a good amount of play and while it's short it is an excellent track for match play or to work on shots you don't find at other courses. Almost every hole has multiple options for how to play it to accommodate any caliber of play.
