Today I was downtown shopping in -20C weather and left my cellphone at home by accident, I did not take my vehicle and really needed to make an immediate phone call. I asked the barista to use the phone and she stated that the shop did not have a phone. I then ordered a latte and politely asked how the coffee shop receives phone calls from customers. She stated that the phone belonged to the owner. I then asked her to ask him to borrow his phone. The bagels are always fresh, the service is lovely and the prices are reasonable. I've noticed that when there is a GCB special on, this location has the most reasonable price, other locations offer the same deals at a higher price. Something else to note is that this location is one of the very few that make pumpernickel bagels in stock. A few times I've called ahead to ask about these bagels and the staff were so nice to set a few aside for me.

The bagel was incredibly soft with a perfectly crisp toasted exterior. It was so good that I bought a dozen bagels and a container of the jalapeño cream cheese to bring home. Unfortunately, the next morning I woke up with what appeared to be food poisoning and was sick for my entire flight home. I had frozen the cream cheese overnight so it would stay cold during my trip and refrigerated it again as soon as I got home. On July 17, my partner had an everything bagel with the same cream cheese, and they became sick the following day as well. Meanwhile, my mother-in-law ate one of the plain bagels and did not experience any illness. Because of that, I suspect the cream cheese may have been the source, although I can't say for certain. I'm giving 3 stars because of the apparent foodborne illness. The customer service, cleanliness, and the taste of the food were all excellent, and I genuinely loved the bagels. I hope this was just an isolated incident, but I wanted to share my experience so the business can investigate if needed.

Great people and the sandwich, on homemade Jewish seeded rye bread, was awesome! Very generous with the meat and unique in that they are kosher and won't put cheese on the meat... but they will give you cheese and you can put in on yourself if you're a gentile. Definitely try one of the fantastic oatmeal raisin cookies too... And the bagels... OMG! They are my favorite deli... Like a NYC deli but cleaner. Forget about the big chains and support the little guy... You will be glad you did!
