Today I was downtown shopping in -20C weather and left my cellphone at home by accident, I did not take my vehicle and really needed to make an immediate phone call. I asked the barista to use the phone and she stated that the shop did not have a phone. I then ordered a latte and politely asked how the coffee shop receives phone calls from customers. She stated that the phone belonged to the owner. I then asked her to ask him to borrow his phone. A full rack of ribs, fries and a blooming onion costed $55. The ribs were flavorful and tender but I thought fries and onion were just very average and overpriced. I would skip those next time. Since I was watching my sugar intake, I skipped out on the more popular items and opted for a few scones and muffins for the drive back home. The scones were so rich, buttery and very crumbly on the outside with a dense interior. It was so savory and delicious. The muffins were very good as well and to my surprise wasn't too sweet. This was such a charming little town. I would definitely come back again next time I drive eastward. I think their bakery items are really good and were very reasonable in price. Are they ever! We arrived around lunchtime and were served almost immediately. We decided to share a couple of subs, The Sunny-Lea ("turkey, stuffing, cranberries, cheese") and The 1830 ("AAA wood-fired beef, caramelized onions, and caremelized onion cheese"). They were ready a few minutes later, so we took our food out to an available bench and began eating. These are some seriously terrific subs. I started with the 1830 and it pretty much blew me away right from the first bite. The super tender (and plentiful) meat is enhanced by the other components, and honestly I'd be happy eating that sandwich every day for the rest of my life. The Sunny-Lea fares just as well and really does taste like Thanksgiving in sandwich form. Really, really phenomenal. I wish that Farmer's Daughter Sub Shoppe weren't so far away, but at least now I have a reliable stop to make any time I head out in that direction.
