After a half day of canoeing down the Bow River, I was craving my late afternoon caffeine. This Tim Horton's location was within walking distance of Banff Canoe Club. It is located in the Town of Banff inside of a building that houses some touring agencies. Tim Hortons is Canada's biggest coffeehouse chain. They serve coffee drinks, donuts, sandwiches, breakfast items and other fast-food items. Today there are Tim Horton locations all over the world. They are known for their Timbits donut holes. Even though this Tim Horton's location is spacious, it had a line out the door. Summer time is peak season for tourism in Banff and of course everyone wants their coffee drink. After being out in the sun all day, I just wanted something cold and got me a Cold Brew coffee. Tim Hortons offers many of your basic espresso drinks that you would find on any coffee house menu. Good ol' Tim Hortons had been on my list to try out for quite some time as I have a number of Canadian friends who always talk about how it is a staple coffee spot. During my last trip to Banff, Canada I decided to stop by a Tim Hortons and give it a try and order the iced brown sugar oat milk coffee. This was a decent coffee but definitely did not taste the brown sugar just a hint of sweetness and the coffee was quite watered down which was a let down. Can't come to Canada and not try Tim Hortons, so that's what we did on a chilly and rainy morning in Banff. This is probably the Canadian equivalent of Dunkin' Donuts, with a slightly more extensive menu when it comes to sandwich, soups and sides. The shop was busy, but the line was moving pretty fast. My target was clear -- the Timbits! I got a black coffee to balance the sweetness as well. Overall very solid donut holes and some of them even have fillings. Not the healthiest choice with all the sugar, but definitely enjoyable! read more

What trip to Canada is complete without a trip to TIm Horton's, eh? While we were dismayed to learn they did not offer poutine, they did have many other tasty options that were pleasantly different than all the fast food you find in the United States. We enjoyed the Blackberry Yuzu Quencher, which was like blackberry soda, and the amazing fresh baked cookies, including rocky road which were so tasty. They also had a number of different chicken wraps, which seem to be ubiquitous in Canada. We also tried a few other sandwiches which were like miniature subs. The potato wedges were also good. (I made the mistake of calling them fries and the employee advised me that they didn't have fries, only potato wedges.) Service was quick even though this location was really busy. The restaurant was pretty dirty, but that is understandable given the hordes of people coming through Banff at the height of the tourist season. The prices were relatively affordable based on what we got. By the end of the trip the kids were arguing about whether Tim Horton's was the best fast food restaurant they had ever been to. "You don't know what you got until it's gone." I grew up in Buffalo, New York but moved to Los Angeles, California about six and a half years ago. Now that I can't get Tim Hortons regularly, I am suddenly obsessed with it. I dream about medium and large double double coffees. I drool at the thought of a plain bagel toasted with cream cheese. Luckily for me, I am able to have these needs met every time I go to Banff (and whenever I go back to Buffalo for visits). I have been to this particular Tim Hortons more times than I can count. Pretty much every time we passed this Tim Hortons, whether it was on the way to an adventure, before the Banff Marathon, or on our way back from an adventure, we made a stop at Tim Hortons. Of course I ordered a double double and a bagel. When I was feeling extra, I ordered a donut. I will say the timeliness of receiving your order - and the customer service - will vary depending on the time of day/how crowded it is. There is a parking lot here but again, it can be pretty busy. No matter, I hope to visit this Tim Hortons - and Tim Hortons everywhere - several more times to come. read more

People always say you have to try Tim Hortons when you come to Canada so that's what I did. The service at the Banff location was a bit unwelcoming and aggressive. The staff here was not friendly at all. I ordered a green tea and I didn't realize that they gave me a peppermint tea until I was already well on the road. The timbits were basically just donut holes. Cool that there were other flavors but nothing amazing. I did enjoy the maple pecan dream donut. It was filled with a creamy custard and topped with candied pecans and a drizzle. read more

The best Tim Hortons I've been to... or maybe I have not gone to enough. This is seriously the best bang for your buck for a solid breakfast meal. They have plethora of breakfast options and when lunch comes around, a great lunch menu (even has soup!). The donuts looked good and not too sweet, and you can't go wrong with their coffee. I got chicken noodle soup, donut, and coffee (came with bread as well) for 7CAD, that's around 5.5$ USD! The chicken noodle soup was very hot but hits the spot after a long week of hiking. The other day I had the sausage egg with English muffin. It's much larger than a McDonalds' mcmuffin and the egg actually tastes like a real egg. Also the hashbrowns are much bigger than McDonalds. Lastly, the service is super FAST and attentive. They did not mess up our orders and seemed to be on top of serving the dozens of hungry customers in line. Very efficient process they got down. My friend thought the vegan sausage wrap was very flavorful and big, I would love to try this one day. We were all happy with this and would recommend this for a quick and cheap breakfast! read more

Cannot go wrong with some fast food on a trip. I personal love time Tim Hortons. The mocha caps and breakfast wraps are to die for. It is a well rounded breakfast. This location is so darn busy but for good reason. Banff is not cheap and people are looking for that quick bite with good prices. This Tim's is very close to the Banff Train Station and the Greyhound pick-up, as you're heading out of town. The building itself is connected to the Brewster Bus Station, and there are additional public washrooms in the station if you're not interested in using theirs. Be prepared for long lines to order, especially on weekends. Timbits seem to have an edge on Dunkin' Donuts holes when they're fresh, but the quality at this location seems to vary, correlating to the time of day that you make your purchase (the later in the day, the drier and less palatable they get). read more

Located across the street from the emergency hospital in Banff. We came twice over the course of our Canadian Rockies guided motor coach tour. Our tour guide provided us a street map of Banff. One of the places listed was Tim Hortons, which is huge in Canada. We've had Tim Hortons before on other Canadian getaways. We usually gravitate toward the Timbits a.k.a. as donut holes. You can go with assorted one - 10 in a box is the way to go. I like the dark chocolate Timbits. Day or night doesn't matter. Timbits will hit the spot. We are from Seattle, WA and loved our Tim Horton's experience in Canmore. So we decided to stop at the one in Banff on our way home. Very sad to say that our croissant sandwiches came out "slightly warm" and still cold and not even flakey and our hashbrowns were also stale tasting and not crisp (like in Canmore). It was like they didn't know how to reheat the food items for the right amount of time. The reason we came back was because it was so good in Canmore! It totally turned us off with this experience. People rave about the doughnuts, but they are okay. The iced capp is really good though! If I ever come here again, I will just get that lol read more

This Tim Hortons is super busy... and pretty standard regarding their quality. The restaurant is fairly large with some good seating areas which is always good. Obviously, it's still a bit cramped feeling because it's in Banff and everywhere you go it's busy and space is limited. Parking... well... let's just say that parking is horrendous... good luck finding a place to park while a bunch of other cars are all waiting and thinking the same thing as you. But I guess this isn't Tim Hortons fault that everyone lives this place so much... it's just the downside of small places. Overall, if your looking to get your Tim Hortons fix... This is a take out location for me only. Lots of the time there are lineups and most of not all the tables are taken. Staff are usually pretty organized but at times can get overwhelmed like a lot of Tim's if they don't have experienced staff. Parking- forget it generally have to wait for a parking spot unless your lucky enough to catch someone pulling out. Still if you are a Timmies fan you will put up with it. read more

An instant hit of nostalgia! It's been 10+ years since I've been in Canada and this was one of the things that I had to come here for. Sure it's your average donut shop, but its special in my heart. The Good: Service at the counter was friendly and efficient. We ordered a variety of lunch items (grilled cheese, turkey melt, potato wedges, crispy chicken sandwiches and Caesar salad) and the food came out fast. The food didn't taste bad, however..... The Bad: My son's grilled cheese sandwich had some melted cheese on top but the cheese inside was completely unmelted. My daughter's turkey melt sandwich was cold on the inside. The potato wedges were not hot and crispy, they tasted reheated, like French fries that have lying around too long. The crispy chicken pieces also didn't taste like they had came out of the fryer recently and seemed reheated. The croutons on my Caesar salad tasted a bit stale though the salad itself was ok. In summary, there were quite a few execution issues with the food though it was edible. They advertise free WiFi but unless you want to visit just Tim Horton websites, it didn't seem to be useful for anything else. The Ugly: There was giant ball excrement and paper floating in the toilet of the men's bathroom which had obviously been stopped up for some time. Waste bins in the main dining room were pretty full of trash. Our table was not clean when we sat down at it. We didn't learn till afterwards that the Tim Horton's chain is primarily known for their coffee, donuts and other baked goods. Perhaps we should have stuck with those items but at least we didn't get any food poisoning. I would have to be pretty darn hungry before I would consider coming back again. read more

I've never heard of this place until now. It seems like our duncin donuts in the US plus they serve sandwiches. Honestly... I asked for a biscuit and sausage incredible (vegetarian)--- awesome they carry them... and got an English muffin and egg with cheese. Not very happy I had to take all that off and it was good food wasted. But yum.... the donut was very very good. I think if you want donuts... and want something open super early?
