It was a very inventive donut with glazed donuts as the burger buns, half a chocolate glazed as the burger patty, and different creams making up the cheese and condiments. The box says they are "made with love" and while I certainly hope the bakers and makers are not oozing affection for the creations as they do their job (because that would get weird right?), the recipes and standards of ultra high quality that this unique WNY establishment has sure shows a respect and appreciation for their customers. The dough is light and never greasy tasting. The cream fillings are also fluffy and airy and melt in your mouth. Peanut butter offerings (several to choose from) are stellar. My friend picked me up and brought me home after the hospital and slyly produced a bag of donuts for me, which I sat down and ate the minute I walked in the door. The unexpected gesture of something I've been enjoying a lot lately certainly took my mind off any discomfort. Nice friend, right? Part of recovery is having supportive friends and family and I'm glad I've got that. And I'm glad I also got a bag of donuts to make a "rough day" a lot better. They only make them on Sundays, but if it is a different day, stop by and enjoy their other selection of donuts, baked goods and candy. For those of us who need to eat gluten-free due to various health issues, having an option like this is greatly appreciated. That said, my experience today was extremely frustrating. For a booth that should be well-seasoned in handling fair crowds, the organization and order fulfillment were disappointing. I was Order #76 and waited approximately 20 minutes for my food. I was repeatedly told they were waiting on items for my order, yet the items appeared to be sitting right in front of the booth. Meanwhile, orders in the late 80s and 90s were being called before mine. I ultimately received Order #79's corn dog, which I was told was the item they were waiting for--yet several orders called after mine were also for corn dogs. Unfortunately, the wait significantly affected the quality of the food. My funnel cake sat for roughly 15 minutes before being handed to me, so it was cold and soggy. The corn dog had apparently been called about 8 minutes earlier, so it was also cold by the time I received it. The onion was cold and soggy as well. I completely understand that it was the first day of the fair, and I'm sure opening day can be hectic. However, when you're operating a fair-food booth and presumably have experience handling large crowds, I would expect a much more organized system for keeping orders in sequence and ensuring food is served while it's still hot. I truly appreciate having a gluten-free option available, but unfortunately, today's experience left a lot to be desired. I hope the process improves as the fair continues.
