It has occurred to me that the meals I've enjoyed here are really a throwback to my formative years when food was handmade according to traditional recipes, full of fresh ingredients, and popular items from the 50s 60s and 70s. The menu is chock full of sandwich melts, hand-sliced roasted meats, full salad bar, thick slices of hearty bakery bread, a soup of the day, hearty omelettes, a large traditional breakfast menu. These are tried and true items to satisfy people who remember when good food was served up in diners all across America. You created a monster. We started off with beverages. Mine was an unsweetened iced tea with lemon and my husband had a decaf coffee. Then we placed our orders. My husband ordered one of his favorites, a Turkey Melt on thick slices of toasted sourdough. A generous portion of roasted turkey breast meat was stacked up along with provolone cheese and roasted green peppers, and crispy pickles as a garnish. He selected German potato salad for his side dish. Very delicious, and just too much to eat, so 1/2 of the sandwich came home with him. I ordered the Western outlet, complete with three eggs, a pile of delicious diced ham, green peppers and onions. Topped with delicious. melted cheddar cheese. My breakfast came with a platter full of hash browns and I selected sourdough toast to go with my breakfast. Some of the dinners come with salad bar, which was freshly filled with all kinds of lettuces, toppings and dressings. Nellie's also hand scoops hard ice cream cones and Sundaes. As always, we were extremely satisfied with our meals, and promised ourselves we would be back again in the future.

I got back out on Route 16 and opened it up. It was egg and cheese on a biscuit, no sausage. Turned around and went back. Went inside. I said, "this is exactly the opposite of what it was supposed to be. I wanted just sausage, no egg and cheese." The person went over near the drive thru window, and for a moment it seemed it had been a simple matter of handing me the wrong sandwich. I was handed a different sandwich, and I went back to my car. I opened this one before pulling away. I was sausage and cheese. SERIOUSLY?? I went back inside, less friendly this time, and asked how hard it was to get a biscuit with only. sausage. I'm one of those people who can actually walk past the beautiful looking donuts which are slightly on the left eye side after entering the store. Less tempted by donuts, I'll always stop to consider a slice of their pizza, or rather two slices. Two bucks for two slices is always a big lure. The place at Yorkshire always has good looking pies and sometimes they catch me like I catch fish using their pretty worms. Generally the service is great, fast and professional. Entering and driving around the parking area could be tricky sometimes, but besides that everything is good. This chain of convenient stores is not on the top of my ratings, but like I said, almost everyone should find what they are looking for here.
