We stopped in this Irish pub last Saturday afternoon just for a couple of beers and a serving of fries. The place was almost empty at that time, but it is a very typical Irish pub. It's very spacious with a corner dedicated to live music; and they also have a big outdoor patio. I just wish we would live closer: they have a variety of events all week, from live music to Texas hold them tournaments and other fun stuff! As it happens in many places, the music in the background wasn't matching the environment, but I was lucky that when we were there, there was a small group of people at a table playing Irish music! So disappointing! We are visiting Delray Beach and we're happy to see Tim Finnegans Irish Pub that serves "authentic Irish cuisine". While the inside is very dark, the atmosphere was somewhat authentic but unfortunately the food and service were not. We arrived at 4:45 pm were asked if we had a reservation. We said no and were given not so friendly look and were told they were expecting a big party at 7:30 (two and half hours away)! This happened to everyone that came in after us! We ordered Fish & Chips with cole slaw - the cole slaw was rancid. Our server agreed it was bad and replaced it with more from the same batch. She said it was made yesterday and the chef was making a "fresh batch tonight (I hope the "big 7:30 party" gets the new batch (Gordon Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares)! To end the evening, we were charged $2 more for using a credit card! Overall, not a good experience! read more

The location has ample parking that's the only thing I can say that is positive for this establishment. For the negatives of this establishment the size of the bar-restaurant there is one waitress who gets to you after a while waiting and on top of that when you place your order with her she brings not your full order. Asked for ice on the side for my drink and to have a spoon come with it. I waited 20 minutes more for the spoon to get the ice out of the glass besides she didn't bring the garnishment for my meal had to wait again like 10 minutes more for it. Next up the food is too damn salty that I could not enjoy it nor finish it and I had to leave it. I'm still with swollen feet and ankles from two days ago. The interior is basically a large room so the acoustics are very poor. You literally have to speak louder than you normally do just to speak with who is sitting across from you at the tables to make matters worse the price of a salad and a wine was close to $40.00 with a tip. It's located on Federal Highway so I'm going to say that this place is highway robbery for the service, the quality of the food is quite poor and it does not match to the expense of the meal. Hey, if you just want the bar to drink at well go for it otherwise I now understand why I hardly ever see anyone going in or out of here because it's awful. read more

When I walked in my first visit, a row of people at the bar all turned their heads as if to ask who are you? They're friendly faces welcome visitors to this quaint place filled with holiday decor. Parking is great and their fish and chips and lemon beef stew were outstanding be prepared for a tangy Keylime pie as well. I came in for the prime rib. We were there right around 5:00 p.m. because once before we had been told the prime rib had "run out" by around 7:00. I ordered my prime rib medium rare and asked for it on the rare side. What came out was medium well, not a bit of pink on it. My companion ordered medium well and his was so well done that it looked like shoe leather. I sent mine back, but because he was hungry, he ate his. Server reported that the cook determined that the prime rib that night contained no rare portion at all. I will never try again. I will say the staff was very nice, but I will not be back. We tried this place for lunch because of all the fuss people make over the fish and chips. It's a large restaurant but they only had a barmaid as the server to work the bar and entire restaurant by herself. Accordingly, even though she was working hard the service suffered. The fish and chips were good, and I love that it appeared the fries were hand cut, they were hot and crisp, and they had malt vinegar available. The menu is Irish fare, and they have all the favorites from Shepards Pie to Corned Beef and Cabbage. They also have some interesting sounding sandwiches including one that features sliced rib eye steak. All in all, a pleasant experience though I felt sorry for the server who seemed rushed and overworked. We would return, but this is not the sort of place I would want to eat at every day, and I think the menu is so specific that you need to be in the mood for that type of food. While the food was very good, there was nothing that was standout. Next time we will go in the evening when there is more help and hopefully better service. read more

My husband and I have passed by Tim Finnegan's almost daily since moving to Delray over six years ago. One day about 2 months ago we decided to go for happy hour. Boy, am I glad that we did. The atmosphere is welcoming and the bartenders Karen and Ashlyn are both efficient and friendly. Last night I decided to take my husband for our date night dinner. The service we received from Eimear was amazing. She was personable, attentive and friendly. The food was delicious from start to finish. We started with Scottish Eggs and Mushroom Barley soup both of which were delicious. We had Shepherds Pie and Corned Beef for dinner, both were AMAZING. The owners Lisa and Noel are always there making sure that everything is perfect. They are super hosts and appreciative of our patronage. Really sorry we stayed and dined here. There were red flags everywhere up to the second we ordered. Its located on a strip mall type place off a main highway. You walk in and you dont get this warm, cozy feeling as most Irish bars do. As soon as my husband and i walked in, there was a line of old golf guys lined up on the bar (despite it being covid times and a 55+ crowd, no social distancing enforced). They all stared at us note: we are in our late 20s (youngest people here). A 'service dog' sat in front of the entrance/exit door so we walked around and no one was there to greet or seat us so we awkwardly sat ourselves. The waitress/bartender came up without drink menus or menus and asked what we wanted. We just got our go-tos but i would have liked the opportunity to see what they had. When she came back she recommended my husband curry chicken and drunken chicken. I pointed to a picture from yelp that looked scrumptious. She said its no longer on the menu and I asked if they could replicate and she said with a loud "NOPE BC IT WAS A SPECIAL & WE NO LONGER HAVE IT ON THE MENU" with a sarcastic tone. There was no service at ALL. So I just ordered the corned beef hash sandwich and mashed potatoes as an extra side. Food: HORRIFIC. I only ate my fries. The sandwich was just bread and corned beef. Nothing else. It was the most disgusting sandwich ive ever ordered a restaurant and paid 12bucks for it. The meat was alright but it was as plain as plain gets. In fact, I had to seriously consider writing a review because I'd rather Tim Finnegans not get *too* popular. They deserve all the praise they can get however. Every time my wife and I go there, we are able to get the same corner table and enjoy both the music, ambiance, and people-watching. Regulars here are definitely family, but new customers are made to feel welcome too. It is a low-key, welcoming establishment where you feel right at home as soon as you step in the door. The attentive wait staff plays no small part in that. My wife and I enjoy visiting to listen to the live music, but the food is exceptional as well.
