After a major disappointment finding out that Gabose Pocha was closed for renovations, we ended up at this Irish pub I used to visit years ago. When we first pulled up, the parking lot was nearly empty, and inside there were only a few people scattered around. My companion went straight to the restroom, so I found a seat at the bar. The first thing we were told was that the kitchen was already closed even though it was only 9 PM which was a bit disappointing since I was hungry. Since it's an Irish pub, they mainly serve beer and wine, so I ordered a Guinness followed by a light beer. Despite the slow start, the night turned out to be unexpectedly enjoyable. We ended up meeting some wonderful people from Italy, Poland, and Turkey. It was especially nice connecting with the gentleman from Turkey, as I had traveled there last year, and we had a great conversation about that experience. The same went for the gentleman from Italy. It was refreshing and easy to talk to everyone. Even after closing, we stayed outside for a while continuing our conversations. The atmosphere inside the pub had a classic Irish feel, very reminiscent of my time in Ireland years ago, with signed celebrity photos decorating the walls adding to its charm. Also money from various countries. The lady behind the bar was extremely friendly and attentive throughout the night, constantly checking in and making sure we were taken care of. It's been years since I last visited, but after this experience, I'll definitely be going back soon. read more

Stopped in for fish and chips and a fish sandwich. The fish was hand breaded and fresh and came out piping hot. We ate in the back dart room which was a little quieter and had a bunch of groups also grabbing fish. The back room has a lot of history and is a cool area. Love the "Kings Head British Pub", the food is great here and the beer is perfectly poured and at the right temperature. I had the Angus beef sandwich I like toasted roll. But I didn't get it with the Guinness gravy because of my allergies and honestly it didn't need it. The beef was that good! Beef was cooked perfect was so juicy also had sautéed mushrooms and onions on it. Very good. I enjoyed it so much. I also got the British beans really good it's cooked in the tomato sauce.. wash it down with a nice creamy Guinness. My husband got the Sherry chicken pot pie he said it was amazing and he would get it again. Plus he got the chips which are frys. Also got the prezal with there unique mustard that has horseradish in it. The service is great bartender /server was so attentive so on the ball she got us everything we needed and help me find something that was dairy free. I'm upset with myself for two reasons. One, I didn't pause long enough to get a photo of my food before I dug in and Two, I didn't visit this place sooner. It's right up the road from my hotel and I've been meaning to stop in. Now I'm sitting here picking up every single crumb from the container and trying to savor it. I have one more regret and that's that I shared it with my husband. He was only supposed to "taste" it but after he took the first bite, he kept coming back for more. I have had Fish & Chips from so many places and never once did I feel like I needed to go right back and get more. I guess I could go back and just blame it on my husband for eating mine. Lol! I ate every morsel of the fish but I let my daughter and hubby eat most of the fries. The fries were VERY YUMMY too but I can't eat fried fish AND fries as I'm trying to keep my carbs down. I'm only scheduled to be in this area for another week so I plan to return as many times as I can before we check out. Might I add, I do not know authentic fish and chips but I've had plenty in my lifetime and this is definitely, HANDS DOWN, the best tasting one I've ever had. When I went inside, I felt like I was no longer in the USA. The decor looks like what you'd imagine a real pub in England looks like. Lots of memorabilia on the walls, dark, with furnishings that fit perfectly with the vibe. The guy at the bar was super super nice! I was nervous because I watch Lewis (the British YouTuber) often. He's the one that has me wanting to try British food but he says they aren't very nice people. Well this guy was very nice! He even ran out to my car because he'd forgotten to give me my slaw. A true British pub in Plantation, FL. A common British interior with steel mugs hanging from the top of the wooden bar. British flags scattered about the walls and front door. Loved the old big red British phone booth next to the bar. The bartender, who I think is also the cook, served me a 26 Degrees IPA in a can but perfectly poured it into a glass with a half inch frothy head. For sure a locals bar, with customers walking in and are addressed by the bartender by first name and their beer of choice. Pironi beer out of stick today but plenty of other choices with a traditional British food menu with of course fish & chips. True British Pub! Great British feel with authentic food! Was greeted immediately upon entering. It was filled with old time relics and which kept me entertained just examining them in the dim lighted bar. The room to the side was filled with dartboards and TVs to watch whatever games may be on. The food was outstanding, both the main course - Steak & Guinness Pie, peas, mashed potato and gravy, and the desserts - Sticky Toffee Pudding and Chocolate Bread Pudding, was to die for. This place has been around for a very long time. I remember seeing this place in the late 80s, that's 1980s, when my grandmother's office was a few stores away. Oddly enough I have never eaten there. We started with a couple of appetizers the fried mushrooms and a pretzel. The mushrooms were cooked perfectly and the horse radish sauce it was served with had good flavor and a good amount of heat. Now the pretzel, it's was just the right size for one person or for a couple to share with other appizers. Unlike the big ass pretzels from other places, this one hot all the way through it. It also had a nice amount of salt. I also ordered the hot mustard and beer cheese. The beer cheese tasted good but was a little bit watery. The mustard, it is not for everyone. It's hot! It's the same hot mustard you get at a Chinese restaurant. I enjoyed it! For dinner my wife and the fish and chip. I tried it. The breading was not heavy and it had nice flavor. The fish was just as good. Personal I'm not a big fan of fish and chips, but cheese were really good. Now me I can resist, they have cottage pie, It's basically the same thing as shepherd pie. This one was really good, it wasn't heavy on the vegetables. It did come with a side of peas but I don't really peas so I got it with a side of baked beans for my wife. I don't like baked beans either, but my wife said they were very good. The service! There was only one person working there restaurants and the bar. She did an excellent job by her self. This is definitely a hidden gem. From the moment you walk in, you feel like you're being transported to a true authentic British pub. From the decorations on the wall to the locals, who are there to the menu items. This is a really intimate place. The service is a friendly. We did go during the day so it was just the bar tender there who was sweet as can be. Several TVs for sporting events and darts in the back for entertainment. If you like the intimate settings and are looking for a taste of home. This is it. The prices on the food were a little higher than expected, the food was good, but not great. What a fun evening! I had called ahead to see if we needed a reservation-and Andrew, assured me it was not necessary. We arrived at the pub on a Saturday night approximately 6:15 PM. Yes I know it was early. However, the bar was hopping, but they have a second room that was much quieter with high top tables, and three dart boards. The four of us sat down, and we all knew ahead of time that we wanted the fish and chips. We were not disappointed! The crunch of the Fish was phenomenal! The chips were great and each couple ordered a large coleslaw which was perfect for two. Having the opportunity to play darts was really fun too; not only did we have fun, We met other people that were playing, and that was great as well, Andrew made our evening very special as did KORY, one of the servers. He was a little shy at first, but then came into his own and he was terrific. I had a glass of Pinot Grigio, which was delicious and extremely well priced and my friend had a beer that she thought was great. While we were there a family came in with two small boys, aged 5 & 8. The boys played darts and they were fabulous! Apparently they have dart boards at home. Regardless, it was a really fun evening with incredible memorabilia from London and the UK all around the restaurant. I highly recommend this establishment and the food. We've seen this place for many, many years but have never been. We were running errands in the area and were hungry for lunch. When I checked Yelp for restaurants in the area, this was one of options. We decided it was now or never and went inside. When you first walk in, it's a little dark inside. There's bar seating that I think seats about 8 ppl and a couple of tables in the room we were in. There's another room to the right when you walk in. There were customers at the end of the bar hanging out which made me think of Cheers. Our server was amazing and handled the bar area and the 11 tables(?) in the room we were in and even bussed the tables! I'm not sure how many people were in the other room. She handled everything effortlessly! When we first got there, it was around noon and it was just us and the 4 ppl at the bar. By 12:30 pm, our side was full! It looks like the most popular dish was fish and chips which we will have to get next time because it looked really good. We ordered from the Authentic Fayre side of the menu and got the Cottage Pie which is like a Shepherd's Pie but the peas are on the side. My husband ordered the Bangers and Mash which are savory sausages on top of pork & beans, side of mashed potatoes & a side of gravy. The Shepherd's Pie was seasoned well and was so delicious that I almost ate it all but wanted to save room for the Sticky Toffee Pudding. I tried the Bangers which was good. It almost tasted (very faintly) like it had rosemary in it. My husband saw someone else who had ordered it and told me that the other person pierced a piece of sausage, then ran it through their mashed potatoes and then scooped up some beans so that he had everything in a one bite. Not sure if that's how it's supposed to be eaten but it sounded interesting, lol. The Sticky Toffee Pudding was good but wasn't the taste that I was craving after having it at Hell's Kitchen. It was very moist and warm and came with 2 scoops of ice cream. They have a British market which is a couple of doors down. We were going to go there but forgot by the time we finished our lunch. What a great pub, We stopped in the other afternoon, We wanted to grab a quick pint before we went to a party in the area. TIP: We parked on the North side of the building, but alas, the entrance is on the South Side, hard to tell. We walked in from a blazing hot Florida day, so the chill of the AC was great. It's a very cheerful place. There are plenty of signs and brick-a-brack from the United Kingdom adorning the walls and other nooks and cranny's. There was some funny "signed" from SIr Elton John and other famous Brits hung up as well. We pulled up some bar stools and ordered some beers. They carry beer and wine, otherwise I woulda tried their gin and tonic. There was a soccer game on to add to the ambiance of the British pub too, and the bars team Liverpool was putting up a good game. Its not a bar with a million types of beer, but they have European beers and some classic beers you would get in Ireland and such as well. We didn't stay long, we had to get moving, but we will be sure to stop back, a solid spot. read more

We decided to finally try this place and their famed fish and chips. We went on a Friday evening around 8, and there was a decent amount of parking. We had never been inside the place. And I was not ready for the noisy-bar atmosphere. As my husband, adult daughter, and I stepped in I bet we looked startled and lost. There was a bar counter filled with people and tall tables that also were occupied. There were a few lower tables available across from the bar. But before we could decide where to sit, someone pointed us to the right to another room. It had a few tables and only one table with people. You could still hear all the merriment from the other area but it was much more conducive to dining. After perusing the menu we all decided on the fish and chips. The plates each came with a very large piece of fish and a heap of fries. My daughter had a pear-flavored beer, which she loved, and I had a ginger beer that I adored. Our server was a tall, gray-haired British lady who was very cordial. When I hemmed and hawwed about trying the ginger beer, she told me if I didn't like it she would gladly take it back and not bill me. Deal! (I loved it. The beverage was not too beer-tasting and had the perfect amount of ginger. I can't wait to have it again.) The fish was good, with a light flaky crust. But I can't honestly say it was the best I have ever had. (I am part British, have been to London twice, and am a foodie.) But a squeeze of fresh lemon and some malt vinegar made it more to my liking. The fries were big and somewhat like steak fries. They were crispy on the outside but a bit mushy on the inside. Next time I will ask for mine to be well done. I prefer my fries more crispy throughout. The meals were $16.50 each and the beers were $5.25 each. We got a fish and chips to go for my 83-year-old mother, who was not feeling up to eating out. I am glad she didn't accompany us. She would have complained about the noisy atmosphere and the fact that someone played the same song on the jukebox about 10 times in a row ("I wish I had Jessie's Girl"). I was dying to try the pot pie that featured a Guinness stew but no one would agree to go halfsies with me, and I didn't want to miss out on the fish and chips. I will definitely be back for that and maybe get a companion to get the cottage pie so we can go halfsies! read more

What a great little neighborhood, British pub! Very quaint inside, decorated with all things English. Good size menu with many selections both British and American. Crowd was lively and seems like everybody knew each other and were laughing and having a great time. I can't believe I've been coming here for close to a decade or more and haven't written a review. Ok, let's get things straight; this is THE best British Pub in the tri-county area, hands down. All the food here is homemade from homemade recipes from scratch, it's not fancy but it's super good and super satisfying. They have dishes to suit all tastes, from traditional UK fare to American classics, salads, sandwiches, you can get something to satisfy you here. As for drinks, please name a place that has an old school hand-pull cask for their beer? They rotate what's on hand-pull regularly. From Fullers ESB to London Pride it's ALWAYS and super fresh. Aside from that, they have other UK favorites Tennants, Belhaven, Guinness, and even American ales (Sierra Nevada, Fat Tire, Yuengling) you name it they probably have it. They also have a large bottle selection. Wine too, in case beer isn't your thing and if you're cutting carbs or on a strict diet they even have hard seltzers. No hard liquor, but that doesn't seem to be an issue here as there are a ton of regulars. The ambience is great, Thursday nights are my favorite nights to come. They have the best crowd (a lot of regulars that I've seen time and time again) and Joyce...the bartender, she's been here for about 8 years. She is absolutely amazing! Tentative, fast, accommodating, personable, absolutely best and most fun loving attitude. She'll make sure you have a great experience, if something isn't to your liking simply ask her and she'll make sure you get taken care of. Let's talk about the music too, they have a juke box that can play anything and everything you desire. They cycle between 80s hits, classic rock, ska, punk, old school hip-hop, disco, alternative, anything and everything and if you wish to play something of your own, just feed the jukebox money and you're on your way to creating your playlist for the evening. This place is cozy, enjoyable, a great place to meet new friends, and relax with a pint or two. I absolutely love this place. Whenever I'm craving some Irish food this place is my go to. I live further south Miami but it's absolutely worth the drive when I can make it. I usually go for the fish and salad but I recently started trying other menu items and haven't been disappointed yet. The steak and ale dinner was delicious, the Irish breakfast was also a hit. The beans lack salt but I figure it's the traditional way and wouldn't be authentic other wise. Can't wait to try their wings next.
