It's my 3rd visit here and they were still welcoming. It's pretty quiet on Tuesdays, so if you need some less crowded night, this is the the day you should stop by. First time was through a friend asking me to join their karaoke event, which they do on Wednesdays and Fridays. Next one was a comedy mic night on a Thursday. Terri took care of me both those nights. This time, I was greeted by Jen, who was equally nice. This place also has a couple of billiard pools to play with your friends. As for the food, I enjoyed my deep fried cheese filled ravioli bites (9-10 pieces) dipped in marinara/pizza sauce with my drinks. The last time I was here, the spinach artichoke dip was amazing and the tenders were plentiful. You won't leave this place hungry. I recommend this place. Very chill. read more

Ambiance was ok but the service was terrible never had a bartender who come to find out is the owner treat patrons so terrible extremely rude and disrespectful if you read comments she argues with any of her bad reviews because she really must not see it and after asking around town she has a terrible reputation of being a miserable person not a good quality for a bartender or owner and not to mention the food was not great either and kitchen looks like the health inspector needs to pay a visit so I highly recommend not going to this establishment apparently unless your a well know regular her name was terri I believe def an elderly lady with a bad personality and not hospitable read more

We had such an amazing experience at Shanks Town Tavern! We came in to celebrate, and from the moment we walked through the door, the energy was welcoming, fun, and exactly what we were looking for. Our bartender was truly outstanding--attentive, friendly, and clearly passionate about what they do. Every drink was made perfectly, and they kept the vibe going the entire night. You can tell they really care about their guests and go above and beyond to make sure everyone is having a great time. The atmosphere was lively but still comfortable, the music was on point, and the whole place just had a great vibe for celebrating. I've only been to Shanks 3 times and only had 1 bad experience with a waitress named Terry. So if u go just don't order water cause she hates that apparently, "Im not here to serve water all night" and all I asked if refills on my water I also ordered 2 shots and food....so im genuinely confused. The bartenders are very friendly and I never have to wait for a drink..there is usually entertainment such as karaoke, comic night, and recently added bike night...the layout is awesome...you can have a private night with someone special and also a section for a group. I have been talking about visiting this place several times but my husband was discouraged by the name, silly Canadian! The bar we usually frequent has many patrons that visit Shank's as well and I have only heard positive things. Our usual watering hole closed and we wanted to still hang out and not have blasting music so I suggested Shank's. We park and the lot was empty but it was 2am and we had no idea what time they closed and gambled. We walk to the doors and it says they are open until 4am. Sweet! There were about 5 other patrons besides us sitting at the bar. The place is actually pretty big and the bar can sit about 20 people. We were greeted right away by the bartender. She informed us the taps were not working so we could not order draft beers. We ordered 2 bottles of Heineken to be simple. We chose this bar because they also allow smoking inside. They had a pool table (or maybe 2, I can't remember) and several dart boards. We were invited by 2 other patrons to join them and play darts. Hubby and I are no professionals at darts so we let people know that when they ask. It is fun to ply without any pressure. It was fun and we had a good time mingling with the other people. It was a very welcoming place and everyone was friendly. We definitely plan to come back and hopefully the taps will work again. The reason for one less star is the price. It was $35 for 7 beers. We pay $2-$4 where we usually drink. Also, the food prices seemed overpriced as well. read more

Came to Shanks to meet with a group of friends for their Karaoke night. I knew this was a dive bar, but truthfully is pretty nice and tidy to be classified as such. They have a pool table area, of course the bar and the rest are pretty much high tops. The Karaoke was set up at the end and it was in full swing. There were some great singers, and others not to much. It was very loud of course, which made it hard to talk to people. I opened a tab with one of the waitress that were going around taking orders, but I only ended up just having one drink before leaving. I was hungry, and the menu didn't really have anything that appealed to me. Is normal bar food, I just wasn't in the mood for it. My one drink (a Moscow mule) only ended up being a little over $6 bucks which was awesome. Service was good, and surprisingly fast. If you know me you know I love local spots and I love dive bars and this hits the bulls eye. A no frills, laid back full bar and small bite spot on Griffin Road with ample plaza parking. They have a pool table, 4 dart boards, and a jukebox. I love how the music is loud enough for the setting but you can still hold a conversation. My friend and I tried this unexpectedly after Irma and this seemed to be our only saving grace. Not only is there lots of seats encircling the bar but good amount of tables as well. We had a server that was great and a bartender with positive energy and attentive. Two generous pours of Merlot were 9 bucks and change which you can't go wrong with that. The menu is a simple one, in which we had onion rings and loaded fries. Don't expect much there of course but it did the trick. The customers are of more older persuasion but I like how everyone kept to themselves, no one rowdy or obnoxious or passing judgment. Tried this place today with a friend and NEVER again. We literally walked up to the bar and sat there for maybe 15-20 mins and the bartender totally ignored us and went around asking the other customers if they needed anything etc. And there were only 2 other people at the bar. She literally ignored us and I had to ask if we could get service. I think the people that go there are regulars . So if you aren't a regular there you apprently get treated like a ghost. We left at that point and will definitely not return. It's a shame because it's in a cute location. read more

Live close by and decided to try the place out but unfortunately this will be my first and only time at this bar. When we walked in we saw there was some Kareoke going on but the bartender told us that the TouchTones jukebox was available. So when there was a pause on the kareoke we paid for a song on the jukebox and as soon as it started it was paused and then turned off and the jukebox was turned off. I should of known it was not going to be a pleasant night when the bartenders take for ever and you have to wave them down for a drink. After all this I then asked for my money back and they said they couldn't. Then when I asked, then why did you tell me it was available and okay, the bartender told me two times to my fave "I NEVER SAID THAT" so this will be our first and ONLY TIME HERE! read more

WOW. Do Yourself a favor and Never step foot in this Rathole. I stopped in after work for a nice cold bottle of Yeungling. As per my usual routine, I greeted the bartender, {if you call the meanest, most surly woman I have ever encountered}, then I asked if there were any happy hour specials {it was 6:30} since food is a requirement to be served here. She replied "We're in a pandemic, don't be cheap". I then asked what it would cost for 2 bottles of Yeungling and Nachos. I always have fun when I go to Shanks. It's is a neighborhood bar but you never know who will show up as there is a college nearby. There is pool, darts, several TVs and poker. The food is excellent and The beer is always ice cold. The bartenders are always friendly and cool, and the owner is a great person all the way around. Even if you show up alone you will make a friend before you leave. They have a happy hour til 7, a pool league and a dart team. There is always music and usually something going on. Been living right around the corner from this place for years and never noticed it. I decided to check it out after seeing an advertisement for their st Patrick's day celebration on a Friday night. We got there around 11pm and there was a dj playing a little bit of everything...some oldies and some newer songs..great mix! The crowd was a bit older..I'd say ppl in their 30's/40's but they definitely know how to have fun. My boyfriend and I were at the bar people watching. EVERYONE seemed to be having fun. They also do karaoke on fri nights which was fun to watch. Ricky, the entertainment manager, was awesome! He made sure everyone was having fun in some way. He introduced himself to everyone, even us, and bought us a round of shots. Bartenders made us feel welcomed and told us to stay as long as we liked even after the doors closed and everyone left.
