I can see why this place is a hit with UCR students. Perfect space to study, especially in groups since they have longer tables and lots of white boards. Free Wi-Fi here too. Great place to hang out since they have sofas and board games. Lighting is a bit sterile, kinda like school too, so perfect for the studying vibes lmao. FYI, the incentive for paying with cash is that they'll give you free boba. They also have a stamp card! Just know that there are time limits to how long you can stay, I believe 3 hours if you're studying at the tables and 1 hour if you are chilling at the sofas. Pretty cool that they let you sub out the milk options at no extra cost, with soy and almond milk alternatives. They also have some pretty interesting menu items that I haven't seen at other boba places, like a mango blended black milk tea, among other things. They also have snacks and food too, neat that they have the green pandan waffles you can get at Viet places. We got the: 1) Honeydew Soy Milk: -Never had a honeydew soy milk before. -Definitely a stronger soy milk taste, with slightly thicker consistency than regular milk. -It's sweetened with honeydew syrup, but it wasn't a crazy amount, so it tasted more like a soy milk with a subtle hint of honey dew flavor. -We liked this one. 2) Melonata: -I had no idea what this was, but it looked interesting and different so I had to try it. -It comes with real watermelon chunks in it. -This drink 100% needs a sweetness adjustment. I did not get any and it tastes like concentrated melted down pink Jolly Ranchers. Extremely scathingly sweet. -Had to take this home and dilute it with water, actually humanly impossible to drink it as is. -After diluting it, it was not bad though, gotta be honest. If I'm ever back here, I don't mind trying other drinks and getting some snacks, but I'll definitely have to readjust the sweetness levels of my future orders. read more

This is a pretty awesome boba shop that is opened late at night if you're craving a midnight snack. It's a big study hub that can be a bit noisy, so bring your headphones if you plan on staying. You order through self serve machines, and the drinks are made out to you pretty quickly. I like the variety of drinks and snacks they offer, but only certain drinks hit the spot for me. The strawberry sunrise was good, which is a bit like a strawberry slushie. The Jasmine milk tea was not my favorite, so I'd recommend something else on the menu. This spot is really popular for studying. Everyone meets at Tim Boba to study. I love how they give free fruit when you study there and order a drink. I don't want to be nit picky, but I was expecting more of the drinks to be blended and more like the traditional boba drinks that I'm used to. A random observation is that they have the best boba straws that I've ever seen! They're super long, thick, and sturdy. They're not the typical cheap boba straws that crack and splinter easily when you use them. I'll be back, but next time I'm going to try a smoothie and see how that goes. Best boba in all Riverside! I am currently a student and this is my regular boba place. A 2 minute walk from UV! It has a great selection with THE BEST honey boba. You can tell it's fresh and is very flavorful and chewy. Complete consistency throughout and no flour texture in the middle to the point where you can leave it in the fridge for a couple hours and it still be good. They also have a point system with free drinks after a certain amount of drinks! My favorite is the match latte! The large is also very large and for what you get it almost feels like a steal compared to other local prices. The service is as expected as it is a pretty popular place. Sister in law wanted boba so she decided to pick Tim Boba because she's been here before. We had a to go order and I picked up a Taro Milk Tea ($3.50) with pudding($0.50). It wasn't overly sweet (thank god) and the pudding was a good consistency. My wife's mango fruit tea ($3.95), on the other hand, was overly sweet and the lychee jelly ($0.50) add-on option was sweet as well. Unfortunately there isn't an option to change the sweetness level. Moved near the area recently and decided to try Tim Boba. I figured if a boba shop is near a well known university it'll taste great, at least that's what the reviews showed. Ordered a 32 oz matcha berry at 50% sweet. What a waste of money. There was a small hint of matcha. The whole thing tasted like milk and they just added a hint of matcha. The boba was almost none existent. I guess they add the same amount of boba to their smaller size, so it wasn't even proportional to the drink. I had to transfer the drink to a jar to add some agave to at least elevate whatever matcha taste my taste buds could find. Won't be coming back here again. I'll try another spot next time. Evermilk (their version of the brown sugar milk) was overall good. A little too sweet if you don't adjust sugar levels but the flavor was great. Boba was chewy and soft. For just a dollar, you can upgrade to a large size and their large is huge! I also got to try the strawberry banana smoothie. It was very refreshing but from what I remember, it was a little heavy on banana. The place seems to cater a lot to UCR students. Although the parking lot isn't that big, there's still a good flow of customers. A lot of them stay to study and there's even a white board on the back wall for students to use. I ordered the Hokkaido milk tea, which they let me have a sample of and I fell in LOVE! One of the best Hokkaido milk teas around - not watered down and very strong in flavor. We also bought a Oreo Chocolate, which was a little thick and had dark chocolate notes. Yummmm. They had some classics like taro, brown sugar milk tea, matcha, Thai milk tea, and more. They also have some new experimental flavors like Oreo Thai milk tea - looked delicious but I'll definitely have to come back and try it. The boba itself is soft and chewy, very quality. Tim Boba is pretty cool. I have had both positive and negative experiences here, but ultimately their wacky hours make it a great late-night spot to satisfy your boba cravings! I really like their rose milk tea and classic milk tea, too. Their grass jelly and boba is also pretty on point! Their fried tofu is pretty good too :) Last time I came though, my milk tea had...literally no tea in it lol. I had to ask for them to remake my drink, which they just added some sugar to it after I asked them. Obviously the sugar didn't do much, so I requested that they just remake it entirely. Even after I got my new drink, the milk tea just wasn't that good? I don't know, maybe that drink specifically was a flop. Lady working at front was nice, greeted me and answered my question about the dairy options. They have little tablets you can place orders from inside too. It was quite spacious, plenty of seating. Drink was alright, bummer that I can't adjust sweetness level to most of their milk teas. Boba was soft however didn't have any flavor or sweetness to it. The milk tea was sugary enough to give the pearls some sweetness though. Price is good for the portions, considering inflation these days.
