Garlic Black Bean Spicy Miso Spicy Cucumber Shiitake Mushroom, Soy Tare Ribeye (Black Angus)
Duyen T.

Heard good reviews here so decided to stop by for dinner. My partner and I were quickly seated as it wasn't packed on a Thursday night. There was lots of seating even tables for large groups, booth, and single. The staff were super nice and friendly. For starters we order the lamb and mushroom Yakitori along with the spicy cucumber. The spicy cucumber were nice and refreshing yet had a nice kick to them so I definitely recommend. As for the Yakitori, I say pass on those as the lamb were too chewy and salty and mushroom were too charred to where that's all you could taste. For main, I ordered the Spicy Miso and my partner got the Garlic Black Bean. The Spicy Miso was flavorful, creamy, had a little kick to it, and the ramen noodles were chewy and perfectly cooked. As for the Garlic Black Bean though it was nice, it tasted kind bland and wished it had a little for of the garlic flavor. Overall, good place though some menu items were a miss but I definitely recommend the spicy cucumber and spicy miso ramen.

I think I went in with very high expectations because of how hyped this place was, and that affected my judgment. The restaurant was a bit cramped, but we were served pretty fast. The ramen is supposed to be the star of the show, but left me disappointed. The broth was on the bland side, and the toppings were a bit lacking. I had to add extra chili flakes and salt to mine. Not the worst bowl of ramen I've had, but the flavor of the broth is close to last place for me. The karaage was a redeeming factor though, among the best in texture that I've had.

Tiger Den has always been one of the most hyped ramen places in Houston for a very long time. It used to be one of the most popular ramen spots with long waiting lines, but it hasn't been as busy these days due to competition around town. I finally had the chance to try it recently for a Friday dinner for two, and the restaurant was not busy. The restaurant's ambiance was dark and moody. We were seated pretty quickly, and our server was nice. Our foods didn't take long to come out after we ordered either. I got the Tonkotsu Ramen, Takoyaki, and Chicken Kaarage. I think the best dish of the night was definitely the Chicken Karaage. It was tender, light, crispy. The Takoyaki was good with a great amount of octopus pieces in the filling. The Tonkotsu Ramen, however, was underwhelming. The broth was bland and not very rich, and the toppings were pretty lacking. Overall, this was about a 3.2 out of 5 for me. I would not mind eating at Tiger Den again, but I would definitely not go out of my way to come back, especially when there are so many other ramen options around town that I like so much better.

Gone here countless of times. Always 5/5 service, food, price. Just go, what are you waiting for?? Food They are all good if you like spicy: tsukemen (dipping noodle) burn your booty hole spicy but SOOO worth it! If you like unami flavorful: tonkatsu or any other noodles tbh. Even the most basic shoyu is stellar. If you can squeeze desert get the PANDAN DONUTS. Trust the cream and airy donut is A NICE MOUTH FEEL. Crispy airy, creamy and subtly sweet with hint of coconut. AMAZING. Parking I went on a week night and we did not have to wait outside, infact an employee came to get me but I was waiting for a friend. On the weekends you may have to place your name outside and they will call y'all in as it gets packed.

My daughter suggested this place because we both love ramen...her and her friends went and they really enjoyed it so I said why not give it a try....I did and I loved it went by myself for a lil solo date...its small and intimate and can get very pack on a Saturday evening...my only issue is that it's very dim so it was very hard to read the menu...but overall i loved the food...the pho was good and hot the calamari was fresh and the beef satay was very flavorful and the tender...I also had the green tea which was good as well....I will definitely go back with my daughter the next time

Don't eat the refrigerated food here, covered in mold and they asked me what was wrong with it.

Horrible, don't eat the refrigerated food here, he asked me what was wrong with it and told me to just get a new one, if you think im gonna eat anything else after seeing this you're crazy, I demanded my money back.

Tiger Den delivers some of the best ramen in Houston, with rich, flavorful broths and perfectly chewy noodles. The Dipping Ramen and Spicy Miso Ramen are standout options. Don't skip out on their charcoal-grilled yakitori skewers, especially the beef tongue and pork belly. Pandan custard doughnuts for dessert. Do I need to say more? Trust me when I say they are a must. The cozy, lively atmosphere feels like a true Japanese izakaya. Expect a wait, but it's well worth it for the bold flavors and authentic experience!

Tiger Den used to be theeeeeee OG spot but the competition is fierce these days. I remember just loving the noodles and broth and this time around it all felt a bit pedestrian. The noodles were still good but the broth for the black bean and Tonkotsu were kinda plain and forgettable. Service was stellar, they made sure to check up on us and our daughter. Our waiter even helped us pack our ramen as we were struggling a bit with our toddler. Don't. Sleep. On. The. Pandan. Donuts. They still hit every time.

Located at the busy Dun Huang Plaza where foot traffic is heavy, there are customers coming in and out of Tiger Den at a frequent basis. Interior of the restaurant is simple and nice. There are many customers' paper drawings on display at the entrance. They are having a limited time Happy Hour promo now - buy a bowl of ramen and get half off an appetizer or dessert. Part of the Happy Hour promo also includes buy one sake and get the second half off. My family and I got the tsukemen ramen, Tonkatsu, and garlic black bean ramen. I enjoyed the tsukemen ramen as it had the right amount of spice and it was flavorful. However, the other two ramen bowls didn't have strong flavor soups. I am also not a big fan of cabbage in the ramen. The ika geso was crispy, while the Brussels sprouts were just ok. I also had the lamb, and ribeye yakitori. They were good but the lamb skewer could be better if the wasabi mayo was actually on the meat, not on the side. I received great service today. The servers were friendly and attentive.

Great pork based ramen and creamy based broth. Great value too for the size of the ramen you get . Would recommend!

Partially eaten! Larger serving size.

Challenging to find in the shopping center full of restaurants. Thanks for choosing the smallest font for the sign people. Inside was clean, not too crowded. Tastefully decorated. Wait time was minimal- there was a sign up outside. Service was good. Food came out quickly. The octopus appetizer was flavored well. The Brussel sprouts I inhaled. Yum! I think I ordered the wrong entree- did not enjoy the bean ramen. But I think that was a me thing. The rest of my party enjoyed their ramen and wings.

Chicken Tonkotsu Soup

Went with a group of 6. 4 of us ordered a Tonkotsu soup and stomachs weren't feeling great later into the day... It was good and I was the only one to get chicken , maybe it was the other place we went to ? Not sure so 50/50

Tsukemen and brussel sprouts

Tiger den never disappoints. I love that they make the noodles in house, as they are far better than any other ramen place in Houston. My go to is the tsukemen, the broth is soooo delicious, creamy and spicy. They are generous with the meat and veggies. By far my favorite ramen spot.

Tiger Den Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Tiger Den

Is tiger den still open from 11 AM- 2 PM? On Saturdays?

12 am on Fridays and Saturdays

Do they have chicken broth options? I don't eat pork, but don't want to compromise on flavor

Unfortunately, no they don't have chicken broth options.

Do you guys take reservation?

No. I asked. And your entire party has to be there to be seated.

How quickly does a wait form on Friday evenings?

It forms pretty quickly. I suggest be there right at 5pm when they open, there will be little to no wait.

Can I order to-go or do they accept call in orders?

I just placed an order for pickup. I placed the order at 6:15 pm on a Saturday, and they said it would be ready in 30 minutes.

The age takoyaki was creamy and good to share amongst a group. The toro carpaccio was amazing as well and melted in your mouth. All had really great flavors but my personal favorite was the tantan noodles which came with poached egg, sauce, and garnishes that you got to mix into the noodles. Super creamy and nutty! I really loved the vibe of the restaurant too, it's small but has a homey vibe that would be great for either a small group hangout or a date. There's a lot of bars to visit nearby too. Our server was also so sweet and brought us a baggie of Japanese candies & sweets after our dinner since it was Valentine's Day. Only complaint was parking. Very small lot and very packed! The decor was nice and was a great place for a date. We got the calamari, salmon ochizuke, bibimbap, and bulgogi roll. It was definitely way too much food. The calamari was super good, nice and crispy and flavorful and came with a slightly spicy sauce. The salmon sushi was a star. Torched with a great smoky flavor, we were told to probably just eat half the rice. Extremely rich but paired well with the light pickled wasabi. The bibimbap and bulgogi roll could not hold up to the first two, so we opted to take them to go. The bulgogi roll was an odd mix and didn't end up tasting as good as it sounded and the bibimbap was great but we were too full to really enjoy it. Overall, awesome restaurant with a really extensive menu. Will need to be back to try their other options!

The Zen Mega Dragon roll, hamachi hamachi roll, and Extra Picante roll were all fresh and excellent. The only two dishes that didn't quite wow us were the hijiki and the Rock N Roll roll. Both were a bit basic compared to everything else on the table. The yakisoba noodles did take a little while to come out, but wow... they were soooo worth the wait. Savory, hot, and incredibly satisfying. Prices are very reasonable for the quality and portion sizes, which makes it even better. There is free parking, but the lot is small. The Chawanmushi was decent but it was a little different than I expected. It had a little bit more liquid at the top of the egg custard. The flavor was fine nothing overpowered and it was soft and had that gelatin mush to it. The carbonara udon pasta was creamy and tasted exactly how I imagined it would which was smooth and creamy with a little crispiness from the pieces of bacon. Just make sure you mix the egg into the pasta to give it that rich creaminess. The only dish I would say that was underwhelming was the crispy rice. I guess my expectation would be a little less rice and a balance of the crispy rice around it. It reminded me more so of a thick fried outer crust. However, I did like the fish and meat they used on top of the crispy rice. They all had their own flavors. The Handroll tasting is probably the most interesting dish I ordered. It seemed to have a good portion of fish and they try to keep the seaweed nice and crispy by leaving the plastic film over the seaweed. The flavors of the Handrolls were subtle. They did make a nice presentation. The salmon flight was pretty good you definitely could tell from the different cuts and fattiness of the salmon. My favorite was the aburi cheese the scorched cream cheese gave the salmon a melted coating of cheese and made it silky and smooth. The nigiri platter was almost like a flight of nigiri. In the order I ate them they got progressively better. My favorite was the scallop and tuna. The only roll I tried was the royal chutoro. The portion was a good ratio of rice to fish and the tobiko gave it a slight crunch. as service and parking. The parking costs $10 and it's only Valet. If you decide to park on the curb somewhere you will get a parking ticket (I saw a guy placing tickets on cars). The atmosphere was upscale and you can tell they try to emulate Japan with the decor(zen inspired). Overall, the fish was tasted fresh and the vibes were there. However, I do think everything was a bit overpriced compared to competitors.
