This cafe seems to be a small and cozy ma and pa type of shop. When you go in, there are two different counter areas. I was a bit confused at first as to where I order the sandwiches. I realized the menu for food was to the right and you order at the window. After ordering, you then walk to the left to pay at the register. There you can order drinks, sweets, and icecream. The shop interior is really small and cute. The food was pretty good. It is very homemade tasting. There is parking on the tight street outside, but be careful because people seem to drive fast. As I was walking across the street, one guy flew out of his parking spot and almost hit me. It can be hard to manuever around because of the small street. The employees are friendly though.

This is a great little stop in the heart of Empire for a quick afternoon bite or some homemade ice cream. The service was friendly and the food was tasty. When we walked in, there was just one family ahead of us but the place filled up fast! Apparently a great spot for locals who were out and about.

cute little ice cream shop/cafe in empire, MI near sleeping bear sand dunes. i got the pesto sandwich, delicious! my mom got the chicken salad wrap and was in LOVE! she was so glad she got it and said she needs to make it at home. she loved the cherries in the chicken salad. family also had ice cream which they said was good. recommended deer tracks and "Michigan pot hole" flavors!

We stopped in Tiffany's for an ice cream break and loved the prices, the service, and the charm of this cute little joint. Be warned, it's cash only and there is just a porta-potty out back for facilities, but that should not deter your visit. My hype crew was digging the Superscoop flavor ice cream and you will too.

We were driving around town when we passed this little cafe. We walked in and when I saw the cute blue stools, I was sold! Simple menu with salads and sandwiches, plus there is an espresso and ice cream bar. The essentials. If you're in town it's worth the stop!

    This place is awesome.

Love this place! Friendly peeps, tasty ice cream, and fresh made wafflecones and something called stroopwaffles... which is caramel sandwiches between two fresh waffles .. and is wonderful. Cute atmosphere as well and the music selection was top notch (at least for me). I couldn't stop dancing:) If you're in the area, it's worth it to stop in!

Fantastic sandwich and pizza option if you're headed to or from Sleeping Bear Dunes!…read more We came across Shipwreck Cafe after stopping for gas next door on the way to Sleeping Bear Dunes. We wanted a kid friendly option and came in for the pizza, but ended up being blown away by the massive sandwich menu! Don't be discouraged by the line - it moves FAST!!!! The young people at the register and in the kitchen are efficient and so nice!!! We arrived about half an hour before the sign says pizzas are ready, and the lovely man at the register said "sure!" when we asked if we could order a pizza. The menu has something for everyone - Including plenty of vegetarian options (I think they even had a vegan option). I loved my Griffon, and the meat eaters in our group enjoyed the SS Noronic (a BLT) and the Fitzgerald. Our kids devoured their cheese pizza! They also carry Great Lakes Co Chips, which are some of the best potato chips we've ever had. Our sandwiches were all so inventive with delicious, fresh ingredients, amazing condiments, and the most freshly baked "pretzel rolls" ever. If this place wasn't a vacation stop for us, we'd be back all the time! Our kiddos favorite part, bedsides the pizza, were the tiny plastic swords that came in our sandwiches holding them together. When they each wanted one more sword, we went back inside and the staff inside was so used to kids asking for more tiny swords that their response to "May we have two more swords?" Was "Sure! What colors?!" Very different from what the response would have been where we're from. :) We even came back later in the day for the frozen custard!!! All in all, it was a great experience with great food, great service, plenty of outdoor picnic tables under umbrellas, and something for everyone to eat.

We ordered multiple burgers (olive burgers & bacon cheeseburger) plus sides (tots & rings) to go, the roads were bad and the rest of our family begged for carryout. That's fine - we each had a Bloody Mary while we waited! Delish. Jessica (general manager) who took our order and made our drinks, was great. She was funny and helpful - timed everything well and made sure we had what we needed. The ambiance is warm and woodsy. New discovery: the restaurant is open for breakfast! I look forward to trying their breakfast on a future visit!

This visit was interesting because the place smelled like overcooked onions, and the pancake wasn't very cooked. The food was served greasy, and had little-to-no seasoning. I didn't complain, as the server was clearly not in the mood to be bothered by customers. We had to ask for silverware, butter, and waited for more than 10 minutes for the check. There was only one other small table of 2 besides our table of 2. She and the other waitress were too busy on her phone to pay attention. The host ended up getting her to give us a check. Maybe it is a good place for dinner or beers. I won't go for breakfast again.

At about 14 a2 to $15 apiece this is one of the rare exceptions where it is a good value because you will get two meals out of each sandwich. We ordered a Tripoli (ham, turkey, salami, and provolone, lettuce, and tomato) and a Gaza ( curried chicken, lettuce, tomato, shredded carrot, and peas) both on rye bread. Both sandwiches were made with high-quality ingredients and we would definitely recommend either of them. Again, I cannot stress it enough, the sandwiches are enormous, and you really should share. it feels like a grammar school, kind of a cafeteria, it's modern and clean, but not particularly in inviting or appealing or charming in any way. Service was patient with his first time, kind, and very helpful. Recommend!! I'd like to return in the future and try their bagels. I'm disappointed that I came at lunchtime and all they had left with cinnamon raisin and I'm not a fan of raisins so... Next time!
