What can I say...terrible sushi. The tuna roll had shredded tuna in it. It really wasn't on par with the Chinese buffet sushi at my local place in Florida. $14 a roll...what a rip! We ordered a royal red shrimp appetizer and lobster dumplimgs...no flavor! The shrimp were NOT royal reds. Believe me I know the difference! Basic, crappy IQF Gulf shrimp. One was even rotten. You could smell it when the waiter brought the plate. The dumplings were straight out of a box from the freezer.This place has a cool atmosphere, the service was good, maybe better hibachi? As others have said, it is expensive for what it is. And what it is, is, basically a bunch of so-so Amerasian restaurants crammed into a single restaurant and at a low-rent casino. There is nothing really memorable about this place, but if it is being comp'ed, at a steep discount via a coupon, etc., then it'll do. 1. If you want Vietnamese, there is MUCH better nearby at local Vietnamese restaurants (think either of the Kim Longs, the noodle shop/"po bahn boy" place on Gorenflo, also in D'Iberville, etc.) for normal prices. 2. If you want sushi, you're screwed, but if you want the limited hot saki, salmon, escolar/"white tuna," maguro/ahi/tuna, and California rolls that pass for "a really great sushi bar" on the MS Gulf Coast, there are numerous places on the coast that do it as well or, normally, better, cheaper (but as to the fish itself, see below). 3. If you want Thai, see 1., above. 4. If you want (real) Chinese...um, well...unless you know your way around western and Asian markets and know how to make it at home, you're outta luck around here. If you want "Chinese food," there are numerous local standalone restaurants that do the same stuff as well or better for a LOT less money. The bottom line is that there is no reason whatsoever to make Tien a "destination" restaurant. Unless there are some extenuating circumstances, skip this place. And finally, as to the quality of the ingredients - namely the sushi - what you get here is the exact same "quality" of fish that you get anywhere else on the coast. In fact, one might even say it is like it all comes from the same supplier...hint, hint...trust me on this or don't - no skin off my salmon either way. read more

Bearing in mind that most Asian fare in the Biloxi area is pretty mediocre at best, my wife and I enjoyed our first visit to Tien. For appetizers I had the Triple Tuna Roll sushi, which was delicious and very well-presented; my wife had the Shu Mai (dumplings) which were average, and skimpy on the portion size. For entrees, I chose the Shanghai clay pot meatballs over rice, and my wife chose the Pad Thai - we both enjoyed our entrees although we do agree with other previous reviewers that perhaps they were both a bit under-seasoned. Presentation and service was solid, and we found the prices reasonable. Again bearing in mind the low bar set by Asian offerings throughout the Biloxi area (both in casinos as well as around town), we would visit again. However, if this were a bigger market I don't think Tien would stand up to the competition. read more

If this isn't my favorite restaurant then it's tied for first with whatever my favorite was. The fried rice is the best I've had. The Pad Thai will make you do the happy dance from first bite to last. Besides the food being off the chain in this very relaxed but upscale atmosphere, the waiters and assistant waiters were very knowledgeable and quick to make recommendations which were spot on. My husband and I LOVE Tien. We discovered Tien one night after gambling in the casino. The service is just amazing. The staff goes above and beyond to make your dinner feel very relaxing, and to make you feel special. Our favorite server is Stephanie, she always goes out of her way to take care of us, even if we are not dining at her table. We have eaten here at least 8 times and most times your our comps from the casino. Price was not a problem for us because we paid very little if any with our casino comps. We love the Shanghi Chicken. We have eaten at all the different tables and have never gotten anything we disliked. I absolutely love the Pear Saki. The portion sizes are alway very large and we end up taking a box away with us. read more

We had wanted to try this place for years and finally had the opportunity last night. The meal wasn't bad by any means, but our expectations were not met. The service was top notch; Ashley and Britney were polished servers. Our drink order took, literally, fifteen minutes to get to the table. Not acceptable. Appetizers were prompt; calamari and lobster dumplings. Both hot and good, but for the price, not special. Ordered a spider roll to try the sushi. A bit heavy on the rice, but good. Again, nothing special. Entrees were Saigon chicken, Singapore noodles, and Singapore rice. The Saigon chicken used all dark meat that was cut big and seemed a bit old. There was a "slimy" element that was a bit off-putting. Saigon noodles were good once they sat for a few minutes allowing the flavors to merge. Shrimp were undercooked; finished with the heat in the dish after a minute or two. Didn't bother me; better than being overcooked. Again, nothing special. Singapore rice was the best of the three dishes. Flavorful with perfectly fried rice. Veg was frozen though, at least the peas and carrots, which surprised me considering the pretense of this restaurant. Overall the dining experience was enjoyable. Service was excellent, drinks were good, and the food was serviceable. But it was nothing special, especially with the price. You can eat much better Asian food locally at a third of the price. read more

I was thoroughly disappointed with Tien's service. I've visited Tien twice, culminating both times in poor eating experiences. The first time I went, I had made reservations for 7:45 p.m., only to be told that my table was "being cleaned," resulting in a fifteen-minute wait. The second time I went it was even worse; after arriving on time for my 7:30 reservation, my family and I were lied to and told that our table had been saved but was being set, when in reality they were clearing another table, which took a total of twenty-two minutes. To make things worse, the manager couldn't care less about this dishonesty and had a "to-hell-with-you" attitude. The food was fine, but their management and timing really ruined the night for us. read more

This place used to be my favorite restaurant on the Coast. In the past several months, things have gone way downhill. The quality of the food just isn't there anymore but the prices are! They also shrunk their menu significantly. The sushi/nigiri is pretty good, though expensive, but the rolls are nothing special and as others have said, there are other sushi places that are just as good. My wife and I ordered a couple of appetizers and each got an entree. Our appetizers came out and before we had taken two bites, they brought out our entrees too! And no apology, they just set it down on the table! Even if not for how much the bill was, still would probably go elsewhere on our next date night. read more

My boyfriend was going to take me here for my birthday ( I turned 19 and he was about to be 21). To actually walk in this restaraunt you have to make your way through the casino which we were not able to do since we were under 21. I completely understand this BUT when a lady who was going to the same restaraunt as us told the security she would walk us in there he told her that not only would she have to walk us in there she would have to eat with us as well...complete BULL. We walked out of there and once we got home from eating at Manhattan Grill in Ocean Springs (which I HIGHLY suggest) we wrote Tien telling them about our bad experience. it's been a couple of weeks and we have yet to hear anything from them. Only eaten here one time as a birthday dinner for my best friends 30th. I never plan to eat here again. Despite the fact that we had a reservation, we had to wait over 10 minutes before we could be seated. Despite having a waitress and a waitress assistant, it took another 30 minutes to get our drinks. Ordering took even longer because there were things on the menu that required a special type of table, but we were not informed of this ahead of time. When the food did finally come, almost an hour later, half of it was wrong, even orders that had not been modified in anyway came out with missing ingredients. One member of our party was allergic to eggs, so he made sure to order his meal without it, what happened? His order came out with egg in it. I ordered a beef and mushroom dish, but when it got to the table there were no mushroom in it. The manager brought me a plate of the mushrooms after I mentioned it to the waitress, but I couldn't eat them. Anyone who knows me, knows how much I love mushrooms and this was the first time that I couldn't eat one. To put it nicely, they tasted very "earthy", but I'll just come out and say that they tasted like dirt to me. The manager ended up coming to or table 4 times during our time there, once was to correct an error made on one of the tickets. I will say the plus to the whole ordeal, was that because of all the errors a few of us (including me) got our food for free. The Shabu-shabu and hibachi tables may have better service, but I would not recommend this place and have no intentions of going back.
