Came across this restaurant on social media. We tried the hibachi scallops and shrimp with noodles. Both had good flavor. The only thing I would change is for for the noodles and veggies to have more char and less sauce. The broth served with the udom was not very tasty. It really had no flavor or body. The noodles, veggies and shrimp were okay. Won't order again. The squid and seaweed salad were both fresh and had good flavor. The tempura didn't really seem like tempura, but rather just breaded. We tried the octopus and squid sashimi. The octopus was tasty but the squid was odd. We did try the Godzilla roll. Was a pleasant surprise. This was quite tasty. The last thing was tried was the fried Oreo. That was delicious!

I decided to try this spot for the first time as I'm a big fan of sashimi and it can quickly become very expensive to order it à la carte at other restaurants. That being said, I have tried the majority if not all of what they offer on their menu in the past elsewhere. I wasn't sure how fast service would be and I can typically put away quite a bit of sashimi, so I went ahead and ordered a bit under what I could normally comfortably eat. The order came extremely quickly and I was surprised. The miso soup was fantastic, and the quality of the sashimi was overall decent but I would say only 75-80% as good of a quality as what I find elsewhere when ordering à la carte. The tuna was a lot lighter of a color and overall most seemed less flavorful other than the salmon and the yellowtail. Be aware though that for many of the sashimi pieces they are larger than regular sashimi. When I order à la carte sashimi at other restaurants, it's a small, thin slice. Maybe 1/2 a bite. Many of these especially the salmon were thick and chunky pieces. Like they took me 2 or so full bites each, and I had ordered expecting small thin sized pieces. Also, as soon as my order arrived, I noticed that there was egg, and egg makes me sick to eat. It was in the sashimi menu and I didn't intend to order egg. I thought it was a type of roe and it wasn't labeled as egg. So I did order four. Also, when I tried the octopus (the small white pieces of tentacle) the texture was slimy like chicken or fish that's sat too long in the refrigerator and it did not taste fresh. My immediate thought was if I continue eating this I may get sick. So a few moments later when my server came by to check on me I discussed the issue with the egg and octopus with him, and expressed concerns about being charged if I didn't eat it and he said not to worry it would be fine and I wouldn't be charged. So I work hard to finish my meal even though some of the sushi is not the best quality and the portions are bigger than normal because I did not want to waste. It took 45 min to an hour from the time I was served, but I finished all of the food except for the octopus tentacle (small white pieces in upper right corner), egg slices, and a roll that had a "honey wasabi mayo sauce" and was completely drowned in it. It's all I could taste and the horseradish (wasabi is horseradish here) was burning my mouth so I couldn't eat it. I let my server know I was finished and mentioned the issue with the wasabi sauce roll. He got a sheepish look on his face, looked down at the floor, and said he would go get my check. Next thing I know this random lady came up to me and started berating me for not finishing all of the food without introducing herself. I assume she was a manager? She never said. I tried to explain I had discussed with my server and mentioned the issues with each item, but the more I said she continued to cut me off and call irresponsible for ordering 4 each of the egg and octopus if I wasn't going to eat them. Which, I wasn't too full to eat them, the issue was one tasted as if it had gone off and the other was ordered in error due a menu issue. And there couldn't have been more than one egg used in making these.. but anyway she's berating me in front of everyone else in the restaurant and it was really embarrassing. My server decided to hide out during the conversation and wasn't there to verify that he told me I wouldn't get an up charge for the egg and octopus. She's not listening to any of my concerns and becoming more irritated so I said what are you intending to charge me? And she dramatically stalked off and entered information into the till comes back and says $8. I said fine just to be able to leave. Server comes back around with my check acting like nothing had happened and said he hoped I had a good night. I honestly don't think I'll be going back. I would understand the up charge for the egg perhaps, but no one even apologized for the octopus that tasted like it had gone off. And they blindsided me when having a "manager?" Come over who didn't even introduce herself and berated me loudly in front of everyone assuming I was trying to cheat them when I tried very hard to finish all I could. That and at the beginning my server said "you get a drink with the AYCE buffet. What would you like?" And I was charged an extra $3 for a coke and didn't even get one refill. I don't think I can really bring myself to give them another shot unfortunately.

I never write reviews... I understand that the food industry is hard and some restaurants have bad days. With that being said, when there is a problem that the customer comes to you with I expect as a manager to you try to improve this. We went here for my sister's sixteen birthday and wanted it to be a very pleasant experience. It was very nice inside the restaurant and I had heard good things online. The waitress was nice but did not really know what she was doing. My mom asked for a regular menu because she did not want all you can eat. The waitress made it very difficult and it took her asking a couple of times before she ever got this menu. She then proceeded to tell us that everyone who was eating all you can eat needed to just fill out one sheet. (We had a party of 10). Never had I heard that at an all you can eat sushi restaurant and I paused at that because it would be hard for everyone to get what they ordered. I obliged assuming maybe they would just bring it out individually and ask who ordered what. This did not happen!!! They brought everything out on one plate, when asked what sushi roll was what they had no idea. So we all just kind of had to guess and it just felt very chaotic. Basically, it was not a nice calm experience, it felt very stressful. So we already were not having a great experience and then something else happened to take the cake. My sister ordered crabmeat tempura and it was very delicious, until I unfortunately bit into a piece that had been deep fried with the plastics still on it (attached is the picture of it)... I was in shock and so thankful I didn't ingest any of it. I brought this to the attention of the manager and she didn't have much to say. Not much of an apology or anything. I just kind of looked at her in shock and she said she would give the table 10% off which sounded amazing for this mistake that had happened. But you know of course when we got the bill there was no discount of any kind. At this point I pretty much knew she was just trying to shut me up and get rid of us. Anyway... thank you for listening to my rant! Hope I can save someone else from not having to experience any of this! I will not be going back which is sad because I really do love sushi... I'll just go to my safe place which is Fiji in Biloxi!

I ordered the hibachi steak and chicken, and the food was delicious. The restaurant is clean and more spacious than it appears from outside. Plus, they offer an 'all-you-can-eat' menu that I would love to try with my family.

    Steak and chicken hibachi

Decided to try this new sushi hibachi place. The inside of the restaurant is very nice with plenty of seating. We were seated right away, but waited forever for someone to come to our table. Just as I was about to get up and leave, a waiter arrived to get our drink order. The menu has plenty of sushi and hibachi options, but like the name of the restaurant, that's pretty much it. We ordered hibachi, but be aware, there are no hibachi tables to sit and watch the food being cooked. Our food arrived pretty quickly and looked good. After trying the food, it all tasted the same. My steak, chicken, rice, and vegetables all tasted the same, with no different flavors. The steak was very tough, and the vegetables were loaded with onions. There are much better options in the area of you're looking for hibachi or sushi.

Service very good. Prices reasonable. I had the roll and it was excellent! They don't have a liquor license yet though.

For sushi, we tried the Kimberly Roll and the Cao Roll, and both were excellent--easily the highlight of the meal. The Kimberly Roll, with its slight jalapeño kick on top, is a must-try for anyone who enjoys a little heat. The chicken and steak fried rice was another winner--flavorful and served in a very generous portion. The chicken katsu, breaded in panko, was good as well, but the sauce on the side was served cold. Our server mentioned that only their teriyaki sauce is served hot, which felt odd given that the dish itself comes out hot. In our humble opinion, heating up the sauces would make a big difference. Service was a B: a bit slow and not particularly warm, though not unfriendly. The ambiance matched what you'd expect from a hibachi-style restaurant--lively with the occasional flash of hibachi flames across the way, which adds some fun energy to the room. Bottom Line: Koi Sushi offers some great sushi and hearty portions, with the Kimberly Roll stealing the show. Service could be sharper and those cold sauces need attention, but if you're in Gulfport and craving sushi, it's worth a visit.

It's just that the whole place seems neglected. For starters, the outside is dark and there was high unkept grass and some trash in the parking lot. The whole entrance needs some kind of makeover because it is not inviting. I found myself carefully looking around while going back to my car because of the dark woods behind the building. Inside isn't much better. It was stuffy and the menus were sticky and falling apart. They also have those kind of cheap booths where you can feel every movement of the person behind you. People tend to flop into them and can literally knock the food off your fork if you're mid-bite. My wife and I shared some crab rangoons, which were quite large and had a nice crunch plus a decent amount of filling. They just came late when they should have been an appetizer. I had the chicken and shrimp hibachi which was great and I brought about 1/3 of it home. You get plenty of meat and veggies with it for twenty bucks. My wife had just the chicken hibachi which was five dollars less. We both got eggdrop soup and it is always good. We also ordered a sushi roll and they have a couple dozen specialties that are very good. They make fat rolls covered with toppings and really know what they are doing. Ours had shrimp, crawfish, and spicy tuna for about fifteen dollars, which is pretty normal pricing. I like the food here but they really could make more of an effort. Our server was overwhelmed and we still tipped well despite some mistakes. It baffles me that they have no social media presence besides some pages that haven't been updated since the Obama administration.

One thing they do here which is a little odd but really helpful is the menu has a photo of every single item. You'll see exactly what you are getting, and that's pretty wild but I guess in South Mississippi it helps save the servers from having to explain everything to customers. You can view the whole menu on their website. The best value they offer is the lunch or dinner roll combos. For dinner you get three full rolls plus a bowl of soup (eggdrop is my favorite) and a small salad for less than twenty bucks. It's a lot of food for the money. The sushi rolls are the more basic kind like spicy tuna or crawfish, but they're still great. We usually get the Crispy Cream Cheese Puffs (crab rangoons) as an appetizer, and their gyoza is also fantastic. If you want the larger specialty rolls, they have lots of signature rolls to choose from. I love the Yum Yum roll with fried crawfish inside, or the Dancing Dragon with spicy tuna and avocado. They are located on the back corner of a large strip and the parking lot has a coffee shop right in the middle, so be careful especially at night because cars move in every which direction.
